Nice! Those are some beautiful specimens. Are you planning to dehydrate them or how do you store/prepare them? I can't wait to start seeing them here in Oregon.

Same same I’m seeing some mushies pop up after the rare summer rains so next month I’m exited

Boiled/simmered half, and drying the rest in dehydrator. Planning on using the boiled ones as food (reserved a quart of the broth for later consumption/edification). Going to let the dried ones cure for a few months (still have some from last year that should be very well cured). Going to pick more today (they're ubiquitous here), and plan on pickling them, which I've never tried. What do you do with yours?

Pickling them sounds pretty interesting. I usually just dehydrate mine and store them in large glass jars, using some of the dried caps for tinctures and some are reconstituted/sautéed for use as a topping to various dishes. Does curing after drying just affect the taste or does it help with finalizing the conversion of ibotenic acid to muscimol too?

According to what I've read so far - and bear in mind I've not read everything yet - "These dried Amanita Muscaria mushrooms should be aged for 2 or 3 months before using to allow a good curing of the specimens. Proper drying and curing is essential for both good taste and potency. The bread of Heaven can be simply eaten as is or used in the following preparations.". Which is a bit short on chemical details, LOL. This has some more info - haven't tried reconstituting, rolling into 'pills', or sucking on them without swallowing. So much to learn! Hey where around town do you find them? I live in Anchorage too right next to Kincaid park and was planning on foraging a but later. I did find a few in my backyard today too

LOTS in Kincaid, but frankly anywhere there's trees you're going to find them. All of those came from the tiny wooded space in front of Alaska Club East. Going to check again this evening - there were a bunch of buttons popping up, and they'll be ready today or tomorrow. Was out at Kincaid the other day and could hardly take a step without tripping over one!

Awesome bro thank you
