Freshly baked bread
I used to drive by an industrial bakery on my commute home, and for those 10 seconds on the highway, all was right with the world. It’s such a comforting smell.
One of my earliest memories is sneaking away from my grandma’s house at age 3 following the smell trail of an industrial bakery.
Did your nose extend and your feet lift off the ground? Was the smell of the bread visible and turned into a beckoning hand?
I thought this as i clicked and boom it was on top.. your definently correct.
Came here to say this
Brownies right out of the oven
Brownies at any stage of production: batter to belly.
Batter direct-to Belly is my jam. Fucking love the batter more than the finished product.
Speaking my language. Several times I've made brownie batter with no intention of cranking the oven up and bake anything. Just wanted to put in work on that sweet brownie brew ya feel me. Self proclaimed brown sludge bad boy here.
The woods around a lake
In a crisp spring morning? Mmmmm
After it rains...
Sautéed garlic and onions
Walking into a small local pizza place.
Yeah, I'm out walking/jogging while on a diet and had to alter my route not to go near the local hole-in-the-wall pizza place. It smells sooo good.
the cold winter air.
The calmness waking up to a snowing day, opening up your windows with that combination of the white horizon and its very pure smell
I moved to the south some years ago. That is what I miss the most. Especially when it's those huge fluffy flakes.
While I don’t like winter this smell
Is great. It’s like the smell of all my summer foes have died. I am a great warrior. The ants and flies have fallen.
“See that mountain over there? That’s a good smelling mountain.”
“The kind of pointy one on the left?”
“Gross, no. Are you kidding? No. Fucking disgusting, trust me. The one on the right.”
Nice try, Yankee Candle.
take my upvote peasant
An older/worn book. Or a stack of freshly printed paper and it’s still warm
Freshly opened TCG cards. I don't care who's around, if I open a pack of cards I will always take a giant whiff.
The smell of old books is known as Bibliosmia
Rain hitting the warm pavements
I second this.
Its supposed to be the smell of dust rising, but its still nice
Rain hitting the green grass. Smell of that mud does it for me
Came here to say this. My fav smell
Would add lavender, elderflower, dog rose. Planning a smelly corner of my garden next year!
Lilac is good too.
Honeysuckle after it’s rained and cooled down from being a really hot summer day. It’s like the humidity carries the smell *everywhere*, and I love it!
My mom used to have a lilac bush at the corner of their house by the bedroom window. Mmm…
100% Also flowers on citrus trees - they smell very similar to honeysuckle.
Newly changed bed sheets.
Getting in the right after a shower & shaving your legs… nothing beats that.
Not familiar with the legs, but as a guy that shaves his head I think we might have one-upped it. Think of that sensation all over your head, nuzzling into a fresh pillow.
Bonus points if they have been line-dried and smell like summer sun/fresh air.
Salty sea water in the air
The lumber section at Home Depot
I read this a lumberjack section at first scan. That’s cool!
I mean I would be fine with both
What do you mean you are out of red flannel wearing lumberjacks?
I used to work there in that department and I'd just hang out by the cedar all the time taking in the aroma.
I must have a mutation I can smell campfires from literal miles away before anyone around me can. I don't know if it's stronger too but oh god i literally have to stop what I'm doing and smell.
Also should say a particular type of wood idk which works best.
There is a small chance you might actually be a dog.
Chocolate chip cookies baking in the oven
My maternal grandfather’s pipe tobacco. I haven’t smelled it in at least 35 years, (he quit about 45 years ago, then died, and the last time I smelled it was at a shop in a mall) but I bet I’d still recognize it.
I’m as anti cigarette /cigar smoking as they come. My mother died of emphysema and I have asthma. But the memory of my grandfather and his pipe is a happy one.
My grandfather smoked pretty much all his life. Salem was his brand. That smell was on everything he touched: his workbench, tools, his truck. I inherited all of those and the smell is slowly fading away. But every now and then, it’ll come back like a fresh cigarette was just lit. He’s been gone almost 8 months now, but that smell is comforting. I partake in cigars now and then, so I’m not entirely against smoking. I even kept his last full pack of Salem.
You okay, buddy? Buddy! BUDDY?
Rosemary. It’s impossible for me to pass a rosemary bush without smelling it.
I'm roasting walnuts right now with rosemary 😊
Is she enjoying the aroma as well?

New shoe smell
A book from an old library
pirates of the caribbean water from disneyland
Odd but poignant
Oddly specific, what does that even smell like?
Bromine. Instead of chlorinating the water, they use bromine, and it has a very distinctive smell. I’m working on getting Matt Stone and Trey Parker to convert the fountains at Casa Bonita to this system. So far, they’ve refused.
I just got a candle called Flume that smells exactly like the potc ride!!!

Kinda feel like I should quote Stephen King's Christine: "new car, there isn't a better smell in the whole world, except maybe pussy."
Clicked in to say this. It's been about 30 years since I read that, and the older I get the more true it is.
Coffee brewing on a Saturday morning
Pussy, the anticipation before doing the deed, that foreplay stage. When you nuzzle your nose right up to her vagina while she’s still wearing panties. Can’t describe it but it’s an intoxicating musk.
Sorry for the graphic description but I can’t describe it any other way.
I just asked my husband if this is a thing 🤣
Camp fire on a lake in the mountains
Freshly paid salary
A good orange being cut.
My childhood home when my mother makes cabbage rolls in the oven (gołąbki)

The smell of home made food. Bonus points if its your mothers.
Me mother's? *You* mother's!
Came in looking for that
In the morning.
Smells like... victory.
The ocean on a breezy summer day
The ocean on a foggy morning
Babies. That newborn smell could make me grow a uterus and I'd be okay with it. (Cuz I'm a guy)
Gimme that sweet fresh baby smell. All my friends have cracked jokes about me sniffing their babies. There is no more of a heady smell than your own baby though.
Agreed, it really is a delightful smell!
Napalm in the morning
Your hair last night
Bloomer chocolate factory in Chicago
Snow in a dense forest. Nothing better than that.
The right answer
When your walking through the woods during hunting season and you smell the air, it’s peaceful and quiet there’s wildlife around the cold breeze blowing very gently against your side, and in that moment you forget everything wrong with the world and your at peace
Exiting a plane and arriving in a small airport. You arrive directly on ground and get hit by that tropical air breeze
Those first breaths of outdoor air when you step out of airplane after landing in a new place. It's relief and excitement at the same time.
