Arkansas was really Damn good this game
Yes they were. A couple early mistakes on their part gave us an early lead. A couple mistakes on our part that they took advantage of, kept it close. In the end, an edge in overall athleticism made the difference. Bryce could have thrown for 1000 yards tonight, and the score would have still been close.
There are no moral victories in a loss but I want to say that I am proud of this team.
Moral victories are what you do after them. The Pitt Boss has routinely converted these moral victories into results later
Gotta convert those unrealized gains into realized gains.
I love to see my hawgbros fight hard. Y’all are gonna be great next year
Honestly just seeing them give a shit is rather refreshing in and of itself
I started following them after I saw all the Oklahoma kids he pulled in recruiting.
Arkansas is a good team. You will remain ranked on Tuesday, I predict.
That's a truly magnificent username.
Burninating the Humboldt countryside
Lmao thank you
With your one, beefy, arm.
Sticking out the side of his neck there
Y’all played amazingly! I thought we were fucked for a minute there. Y’all got a coach for sure
I’m still trying to understand why Arkansas wasted so much time on that last drive. They were down by 14 points. Why are you running the ball in the middle of the field? And then letting the clock roll
Just Kendall briles things
Because they gashed us on a lot of plays where we committed to those inside runs
The SEC west has insane parity this year. Ole miss, Alabama, TAMU, Arkansas, Auburn, miss state, LSU have all played super close games with each other outside a couple
Honestly the Auburn game was a combination of good Bo and hangover from the Ole Miss game.
I was in stadium. Even on the sideline, we just weren't ourselves that day.
I’m gonna need James Cook lined up against Harris every play please
Man I hope Burks is ok.
He's one of those special ones that Arkansas fans will still be talking about decades from now.
At the college level he'll be talked about in those "What if he played as a receiver on that good Hog team?". He has played a big part in making these seasons (even the Morris ones) bearable. He's carried a lot of our hopes and dreams and done a damn good job even today.
I'm not quite sure if he'll hold up in the NFL though, he just looks raw and his bruising style makes him look like he'll experience a lot more of these physically exhausting days. He has everything else though, so who knows.
Senior year Tyler Wilson vibes
Man I loved Tyler.
He threw a perfect game against my HS his senior year. I made solid contact once. Nbd. But seriously lol I did too
Yep I would hate for him to have to miss his last 2 games as a hog. He’s been truly special for us, he joined the team when we were a program in disarray, bought in completely when Pittman came on, and has shown himself to be one of the best players in the country
RIP in Peace 6-Way SEC West Tie, you were too beautiful for this world...
I want to believe
The scoreboard may show an L but this was anything but that for Arkansas. Sam Pittman is one hell of a coach
Bro I'm so excited for the future of our program. All 3 major sports are something to look forward to in Arkansas, and I'm so happy.
It really feels good. Hasn't been this promising in a decade or more depending on the sport.
Next season football may regress a bit due to all the super-seniors we have and folks like Burks getting drafted, and our tough schedule, but I trust this staff to keep us competitive.
Yall have come so far in so little time. A regression year shouldn't derail the progress Pittman's made on the culture and locker room. GG, today stressed me out.
Your players have bought in to Coach Pittman's program.
I would imagine that you will benefit more from the transfer portal than you think.
If I'm a good athlete riding somebody else's bench, I wanna go play for that guy.
Y’all got anyone you can spare? Pretty please?
You stay away. Go raid Florida
They don’t have many good athletes left. Dan been nappin on the cruitin trail
make no mistake, that roster is still talented. the coaching is just that bad
Flair gods have blessed us.
So, a true quality loss?
Our last three seasons we have a combined 7 wins. This season has been good to us, regardless of the disappointment of losing this game. 🤷♂️
Keep in mind the loss to Ole Miss that was a choice between 2 and overtime.
Honestly, I stand by going for 2 in that situation. Could the game have ended differently in overtime? Sure. But I was good about trying to close the game out there.
Given our history with Ole Miss, no telling how that would have ended up.
*Laughs nervously in 2015*
If you're the underdog on the road, going for the win instead of playing for overtime is 100% the right call.
I'll argue the playcall all day, but the decision to go for 2 was the right one.
I'm calling my shot now: y'all will murder somebody in your bowl game 59-0.
They beat the team that beat Bama and made it very close against Bama.
First of all gg bama. Second I’m still over the moon with our trajectory. This time 2 years ago we had just been throttled 45-19 at home to Western Kentucky and got kill 56-20 the next week. In 19-20 we had 4 wins and only 2 FBS and none were SEC that was truly the basement. All love and respect to the Pittboss and the kids who saw it through!
In the words of the soccer announcers after Canada beat Mexico in world cup qualifying.
"congrats, the world no longer looks forward to playing you."
He was describing his thoughts on our defense.
Gary saying something funny shocked the shit out of me
His joke about taking two full years to throw for 561 yards was also surprisingly funny
And 2 kids
Gary is an ass man: CONFIRMED
A man of culture and refinement
Lets not get carried away there… this is Gary Danielson we’re talking about here.
I’m hearing this may indeed be the same body part as the butt?
He said ass.
Gary Danielson is ass, my dude
That’s what Bama legend Melvin Ingram said.
"It's the same body part"
I think ya did…
Continues to say it lol
GG Alabama. Congrats on winning the West...again.
Arkansas is going to play some 8-4 team in a bowl game and absolutely salt the earth with them.
😄 I love u
I do not want anything to do with you guys. Go beat up Penn State please
Playing Penn State with a healthy Clifford would be a reverse uno card. Healthy Clifford Penn St was a genuine top 10 team.
Arkansas played their asses off. There I said it.
Winning in Tuscaloosa is difficult.
Bryce Young the difference between a trip to Atlanta and 3 losses already. Golding blows.
Feels win-win how this season ends. Either shit gets wild and we have some iconic program moments and a Georgia meltdown of epic proportions (we're talking a "2nd & 26" or "Dos A Cero" type legend).... or we get humiliated and Pete and BOB are toast and we can move on to 2022 a healthier program on Revenge Tour.
arkansas is fun to watch but my god that last drive was nails-on-a-chalkboard level stuff
Our OC has no concept of a hurry up offense. You could tell in that last drive he'd given up on a win. It's been a pain point for us all season but some of the playcalls this game were downright infuriating.
obviously i’m an outsider but i can’t imagine that clicks very well with pittman, who seems like he’s more than willing to put the game in the hands of his team and go for it.
I'd agree with you, but maybe the situation on the sideline is more complicated than it seems. Honestly, couldn't tell ya. Pittman does believe in his team; that's why we've come so far, but I also imagine he wants to trust that Briles' playcalls will be better/get more yardage than they did in crunch time. Worked against MSST, didn't work against Bama.
So much growth by Arkansas in such a short period of time.
If we drop out of the top 25 after that performance, I will throw a fit.
Especially if Miss St stays ranked
Absolutely. We have a better resume, same record, and beat them head to head.
Everyone knows the committee will put MSU one spot ahead of you because they have the higher quality loss.
Ah yes. Memphis.
Clemson ought to pop up, so one of those two should be falling out consequently.
Y'all being ranked will help Bama more than MSST at this point, so let's hope the methodically illogical committee keeps their logic in holding you in there
You were basically an inch away from beating ole miss. You are way better than your record.
You should rise. You looked vicious on both sides of the ball!
Pour one out for Treylon Burks
Mans was hurt and still killing. First round for sure.
Man is a beast. Even hurt, he destroyed our secondary.
Well boys, the bottle of whiskey I laid down ten years ago until we beat Bama will get another year older. I guess that's a silver lining? Great game though!
You should probably know that whiskey doesn’t age in the bottle. Might be better off buying a good cab from 2006 and drinking that.
Damn, dude took two L's today.
Maybe it's an oak bottle?
a b... barrel.
Yeah Georgia’s gonna clap us
Edit: I retract my statement
Nice reverse jinx attempt
Alabama for the (upset) victory.
They aren't a shitty team, but they aren't who they usually are. If Georgia is ever gonna get over the Alabama hump, it's gonna be this year.
Paul Tyson going in at halftime?
They are gonna Reverse Uno card us with JT Daniels. Kirby has spent the whole season setting it up.
Yeah, we’re gonna blow another 4th quarter and lose to y’all as is tradition.
Legend says Arkansas is still calling unnecessary run plays even until this day
The Kendal Briles (Breyers) Way
Briles pisses me off quite often.
3rd down Draw plays. If i never see one again id be good.
Obviously I wanted the win. But where we were just a short time ago, I can't help but be proud as hell of this team.
Maybe if we were in Fayetteville this could have been a W. Our guys played their souls and guts out. Let’s roll into next week and crush Mizzou.
E: since smoked ribs are no longer undefeated I have to destroy my smoker and never smoke again. This is the law
You'll have to build a pit for next week.
Bro I don’t think my arteries could handle that plus Arkansas football
Every one gets some bad calls…
But can we talk about the refs putting the ball from the Arkansas touchdown at the one yard line not once, but twice, making us watch an inevitable score for five unnecessary minutes?
[Gary's favorite movie.](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/gGlJgU9x8tM/mqdefault.jpg)
I believe (no bias for Pitt Boss, at all, I swear) that Arkansas will start to be serious contenders in the next few years.
And that makes me happy
paintball with no tball amirite
From week 5 when we played, y'all have grown a lot under Pittman. Glad to see he has y'all in the right direction. Woo Pig!
So if we can mess around and beat Mizzou, something totally within our capabilities, we'll have 8 wins for the first time in forever. We'll get a decent bowl game. The turnaround for Coach Pittman is totally legit.
Please stop calling us “Arky”, it’s all we ask.
GGs Bama, hope it’s even closer next year
I legitimately didn't know you guys hated that. My B
Just say Hogs! It’s the same length and it’s not a weird abbreviation! Haha
We don't air the grievance often, so no harm done. But yeah, most of us hate Arky lol
I see this come up a lot so I’ll explain. Arky like Okie are old dust bowl terms to deride the poor people from those states during their diaspora. Oklahoma has sort of “reclaimed it” but Arkansas has not. So to some people especially the older crowd it’s still a *light slur.* It’s not a big deal to me personally but it isn’t just that we don’t like it.
A bigger pet peeve than Kendal Briles honestly
Kendal ~~Briles~~ Briers
My husband use to play baseball for Arkansas and I just found out tonight when it was pointed out in a comment.
He's just let me go around his family looking like a doofus for 6 years.
That and stop making unoriginal bacon or pulled pork jokes. Arky is a higher priority tho
Never been so proud of my hogs. Woo Pig for life 🐷
We can all agree the refs were absolutely atrocious
I hate how many postgame threads have had this exact comment this season. It has become a serious problem.
How do we fix it? Genuine question.
Full-time referees held to a standard by a central officiating organization would be my answer.
This. They have to face real consequences for poor performances or game blowing calls.
This is certainly the first step. Referees are human, and will never be perfect, but there is no reason not to have full time officials in major college football. There is too much money going around.
> you move into profession - your skillset progresses so rapidly
A big reason for that is you're actively doing it, nearly every day. They'd have to treat them like coaches treat QBs (heavy amount of film study and review during the weak) and have real after-action reviews. I don't see them bothering until it actually affects the viewership. Having watched MLB ump performance, with the league's billions in revenue, leads me to pessimism.
Hell of a ball game, Arkansas is quickly becoming scary
We’ll probly dip down again next season but damn this loss smarts, especially after how close it was
Of everything I thought would happen this season, losing to Bama being a heartbreaker was not one of them. So proud of this team. Hope Burks is ok after that hit.
Gg Bama. F the refs.
Gg Bama had a fun run :D
Also Fuck Chad Morris
Fuck chad Morris
> Fuck Chad Morris
I'm a simple man. I see fuck Chad Morris, I upvote
We are dangerous again.
Couldn't ask for anything beyond that from Sam Pittman. So happy he is seeing success -- you can't help but root for the guy!
KJ has gone toe to toe with every “Better” SEC QB this year… really freaking impressive
And he’s a Redshirt Sophomore. 😈
For fuck's sake
But you won't hear this on ESPN
Burks has definitely been highlighted but everyone’s kinda leaving Jefferson off to the wayside. He’s been extremely impressive this year and I can’t wait to see what he can do next year
Incredibly underrated and overlooked. Most in the sec and possibly the country
Don't let this loss make you forget that Treylon Burks had ZERO TOUCHDOWNS under that incompetent piece of shit Chad Morris.
That is unreal
Them Hogs is hell, ain't they?
Burks was a hero today. Still a loss but I'm so proud of this team.
I know Arkansas is #21, so they’re not bad.
But please dear god don’t rank us #2
I think OSU might jump us this week, and deservedly so
I 100% agree. OSU made a good #7 MSU look like [a 1-8 FCS team scheduled in mid-November](https://www.google.com/search?q=bama+nm+state&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en-us&client=safari)
Good luck against Georgia.
Who’s side are you on here unironically
90% sure that was sarcasm, we actually like you guys. Probably more so than any other SEC team.
Plus our game thread was super chill.
We desperately need it
Well we tried, hope we skull-fuck Mizzou next week.
I like the Sam Pittman hire. Arkansas played tough.
31/40 for 561 yards, 5 touchdowns, 0 picks.
Holy shit Bryce Young
Our secondary is non existent without Catalon
And several of those incompletions were drops
Fun fact: the previous record of 484 yards belongs to Scott Hunter, and goes all the way back to Bear Bryant - a loss in the 1969 Iron Bowl. Tangential fun fact: that was also the last time Auburn has beaten Alabama by more than two scores.
That was the same season that he and Archie Manning of Ole Miss combined for a then-absurd 842 passing yards in an all-time classic of a game, which Bryant called "the worst football game I've ever seen," LOL.
GG Hogs. Pitt Boss rules. Please go beat the hell out of everyone not named Alabama forever. Y'all scary. It looks good on you. And fuck Chad Morris.
FCM all day e’ry day.
I never thought I'd see a post from a Bama fan post game that would make me smile. But anybody who gives out a good ol Fuck you to Chad Morris is alright in my book.
Georgia may drop 70+ on these defense.
Saban is going to kill someone once they get back to the locker room
He'll sacrifice a walk-on to the football gods and they'll win the next two games by 30.
Respect to the Arkansas team. They are solid and overcame a ton of injuries to have a great season. Thankful to win a close one.
HEY DESMOND HOWARD, WAS THAT GAME WORTHY OF A PICK ON YOUR SHOW?
Arkansas, that was an AMAZING performance.
This kind of game shows why you guys were a Top 10 team this year.
I look forward to seeing you guys become regular SEC West competitors.
WOOOOOOOOO, PIG SOOIE!
Burks a god. KJ a god. I’m a happy hog.
Kerns is not a god, but he’s making his catches now!
I take back every negative thing I said about Kern earlier in the season.
Georgia fans thinking about playing this Bama team in Atlanta and trying to keep Hope away. But they don’t realize the [SEC already invited her to the game.](https://twitter.com/sec/status/1461397029599555585?s=21)
For the first time in a long time, I had fun. Gg Bama.
We don't beat Alabama. That's not what we do. But every...(checks notes) seven years we make them wet their pants.
That's Arkansas. Respect that.
Take the over on georgia vs alabama
Odds of winning the iron bowl: 50%
Odds of winning the SEC chip: -10%
Almost 700 yards of offense and Bryce goes for 561 and 5 TDs. And we only win by 7 lmfao fire Pete into the sun
Edit: the cowards changed it to 559 yards.
G fucking Gs arkansas. Played your hearts out and probably knocked alabama to the #3 spot behind OSU, basically guaranteeing that they won't make the playoffs if they lose a close one to Georgia in the CCG.
If we lose to Georgia by 1 point at #2 we will still not make the playoffs unless everyone else self implodes. It's win out or bust for Bama.
You guys are fucking nuts if you really thought we’d make the playoffs with a loss to Georgia. They are hyping up the sec championship but ever since the ATM game our only shot at the playoffs was to win out. Georgia will crush us and we’ll play in the sugar bowl. Take the tinfoil hat off
GG Arkansas, Pittman is gonna take y’all places
Proud of my team. We’ve come so far in two years. Sam Pittman is amazing. The fake field goal was the stuff of legend.
