Draining Glyphosate into a container looks like a glitch in the matrix with video
By - Thund3rbolt
This confuses me the more I look at it
It reminds me of ReBoot
Never go into a game alone.
I lost the game!
It’s been years man. Years. I was doing so well. There are no winners in this game.
I had a whole ass 3 year streak goddamn it
You fucker now I lost the game too
Son of a bitch
^I ^hope ^you’re ^happy…
I am no longer megabyte.
To mend and defend!
I used to hate ReBoot so much and it was always on before BeastWars on YTV. (god tier show TBH) Near the end of my childhood TV-binging days I started to like ReBoot a bit, but it was too late...
They actually rebooted reboot, 3 years ago!
IMAGINE: what they can do to a 27 year old computer animated show with modern technology!!!!!
WELL. they decided to have the show feature 5 real life children doing live action and then it was cancelled.
At least they referenced how Megabyte isn't so big these days.. only redeeming thing of that whole rebooted Reboot
It's also super clever that Megabyte can only become Gigabyte by the power of Hexidecimal (A reference to the utter lunacyof the Hexidecimal System)
Still can't believe some of the things they got away with on that show.
But the hexadecimal system is in place for a reason :( it’s not lunacy it’s an important part of every part of a computer
Though it’s not the most intuitive system
If we had 4 or 8 fingers on each hand we wouldn't find it complicated. We only use decimal because we invented ten symbols for our ten digits which is what everyone used. A race of spider people would find base 10 stupid. It's can only be broken down into 5s and 2s easily. Base 12 would have been better, twice as many clean denominators 2 3 4 6
Was it the aztec that used base 12? Can count to 60 on your hands doing it that way.
Ugh. The Guardian Code was such trash. I’m sad they bungled it so bad they had to cancel it.
It’s never too late, you can always ReBoot
They rebooted reboot but then they gave it the boot.
How much boot could a reboot boot, if a reboot could reboot?
How? also /r/ReBoot welcomes new citizens.
That's really what this is all about
Oh yeah, when it went all silver? I see it.
It was a cool show
It should get a reboot.
No, not that shitty real life one they did. a real one
I was _so_ mad when I realized the ReBoot reboot was that shitty live action thing. What the fucking fuck.
Enzo... *Matrix*... Yes.
(soothing female voice breaks the silence of the day) "INCOMING GAME"
Insane that yours is the first comment I saw on this thread because I am literally ripping all of the episodes of ReBoot from a DVD box set right now using HandBrake on Manjaro. God this world is fucking weird.
~~Turbulent flow of an extremely viscous fluid. Theres a ton of weight on top of that output that pushes the fluid out like you just woke up from a beer bong hangover vs your normal steady stream of pee. The fluid is just so much thicker it doesnt splatter. At least thats what i make of this~~
~~edit: it could also have surfactant to help it flow and that could be evaporating causing that wavy effect~~
edit2: completely wrong!
Further down has the correct answer:
"The natural oscillation frequency of the not-water is almost the same as the shutter speed of the camera. Hence, it looks trippy. Same thing as those videos of helicopters taking off with the rotors "not moving"."
Awww. You spoiled it!
I was sure it was the Matrix.
I was thinking it'd "mushroom" out a bit due to sticking a bit to the pipe or due to pushing down on the slowing flow below it, while the inner part is still pushing out. After enough comes out, the mushroomed part follows the flow, then the cycle repeats
It looks slow mo but it isn't. I think it is very... **edit** ~~non-~~viscous? Or partially liquid and partially heavy gas? Or I have no idea what I'm talking about. Yeah that last one.
My thought was the framerate on the camera just makes it look like it is going slow.
This is correct. Viscosity doesn't change gravity.
It doesn't change gravity, but things like tar and maple syrup still won't act like water.
But yeah, this isn't going as slow as it looks.
I think this is the correct answer
It looks like a poor CGI simulation of water flowing.
Yeah I definitely thought I was on r/simulated for a second
Did not know about that sub. Joined. Ty
OR every “bad” water simulation in video games is actually a good simulation of glyphosate
So it turns out instead of aging like wine it always has been fine wine.
I'm just a doof!
Maybe all wine has progressively gotten worse over time, so an older bottle will always taste better.
Makes you think. 🤔™
Yeah I feel like if they ever simulated this they'd end up making it less realistic to have it look more realistic.
Reminds me of Borderlands 2 liquid with Physx turned on.
Now we know they got it right all along
Scientists of Reddit,
For too long, scientists and liquidologists have looked at flow as a binary problem: [laminar](https://youtu.be/Y8OrsH2bwLk?t=21), and turbulent flow.
But now, for the first time, thanks to Monsanto, we have:
#*TURBULENT LAMINAR FLOW*.
Together at last. Somehow.
“Hey! You got some of your laminar flow in my turbulent flow!”
“No! You got some of *your* turbulent flow in *my* laminar flow!”
#Turbinar Flow: It’s consistently inconsistent!

That's when real turbulent juice ist coming, and you got to take care of it. Turbulent juice
But wait there's more, just when you thought the juice couldn't get any more turbulent, we go and crank it up...five notches...that's right, it's new turbulent, upgraded, extra five juice. Only for a limited time.
It's what humans crave
I was sure I would find this
Bayer's legal team would like you to know that Monsanto no longer exists. They were subsumed by the Bayer megalith. Soon all things will be a part of the Amazon-Bayer conglomo-government. Would you like to know more? Take this pill and all will become known to you.
The life-destroying power of Roundup™, now with the great taste of Heroin®!

This. Also trigger discipline, Occam's Razor, Steve Buscemi was a fire fighter and helped at 9/11, and my axe.
He did the monster math
Came here to say this
My guess is the natural oscillation frequency of the not-water is almost the same as the shutter speed of the camera. Hence, it looks trippy. Same thing as those videos of helicopters taking off with the rotors "not moving".
Homie asked for scientists and instead he got guessitists.
I don't think it's that, this flow is turbulent and chaotic so I don't expect it to repeat in a periodic way and give a shutter effect like a rotor for exemple.
My take is that it has to do with evaporation. IfI'm not mistaken, its vapor pressure is very low, which means that it's basically not really volatile. The vapor pressure of a liquid (it's tendancy to evaporate) increase with temperature. I suspect that in the case of glyphosate, the volatility(vapor pressure) increase a lot with temperature. So when you leave it in the sun, some of it will eventually evaporate. When you change container, it might cool a bit, and some amount will become liquid again and form droplets as heavy puffy clouds. If those are heavier than air and have different refraction index, it gives this kind of effect.
That would make sense if the substance in the video was an oil of some kind. However, glyphosate in a pure state is a solid with a high melting point. Therefore, this is almost certainly a solution in water. I'm not convinced water could behave like this
This video is of recycling old herbicide. The glyphosate is mixed at a low concentration with adjuvants and water, and when it breaks down in the tank the oily surfactant separates out.
We did it Reddit!
We did? I still have no idea what I'm looking at...

The old reddit samerroo...
Amazing, thank you! How did you find that clip so easily?
It's slow water and that is what I am going to take away from all of this.
Glad I could help
The vapor pressure plot might not be as abrupt. Also, maybe the difference in refraction index is not a high. I don't have the numbers to be fair
Herbicides are often mixed with oils to get through the waxy coating on leaves.
this has nothing to do with vapor pressure, and what are you trying to say, there is some kind of vapor in the fluid leaving the nozzle?
>this flow is turbulent and chaotic so I don't expect it to repeat in a periodic way
You can literally see that it's repeating in a perfectly periodic way. Idk why this is such a popular response.
Agreed. Turbulence is literally defined in terms of it's scale and periodicity, though statistically over time.
As the classic poem goes.
"Big whorls have little whorls, Which feed on their velocity. And little whorls have lesser whorls, And so on to viscosity"
Any turbulent flow system does produce a predictable size distribution of "whorls" and they always repeat on some scale if boundary conditions are steady. They keep decomposing into smaller structures until the viscosity of the fluid stops them.
Most people are familiar with these periodic turbulent (sort of) structures with one highly dominant oscilation mode.
people just upvote anything, it says right there in the title "with video" because oc was right
The title specifies that it looks like this in a video. It'd stand to reason this has to do with shutter speed.
>this flow is turbulent and chaotic so I don't expect it to repeat in a periodic way
Sort of, but it's still doing the "glug glug glug" thing that we all know about from pouring things out of containers. This regular periodic oscillation explains what we're seeing in the video.
The vapor pressure hypothesis is nonsense.
Yeah, I’d buy that.
I’d buy that for a dollar!

I am going to guess here, but it has to do with the viscosity and turbulent flow of this fluid.
It’s because of all the cancer.

Yup that’s enough internet for the day
I worked in the pesticide business when Roundup (glyphosate) first hit the market in the mid 80's, it was $400 a gallon, that's $992 in today's dollars.
Wow! The price has drop dramatically since then
The patent was lost somewhere around 20ish years ago, opening up the door for generic brands.
I worked at Lowe's Hardware and occasionally we would have off-brand glysophosphate for half the price of Roundup. Trying to explain to people chemical percentages, how to mix things, and just basic life skills was the bane of my existence there.
Sometimes folks would come in, see the price, and decide that they were getting a gallon of gas instead. Pissed me off every time.
And that's what competition does to pure and good Capitalism... tsk tsk
Competition is a vital component of good capitalism
Deflated like Tom Brady's balls.
Bayer, as of last week, is now considering removing it from the market after their latest court ruling (I guess the risk of a $13bn settlement is a concern). Their revenue in the US on it is only ~$365m a year or than than 2% of their crop Sci division so not a big hit for them.

Glyphosate is a toxic herbicide used to kill weeds
Unfortunately it doesn't only kill weeds
[We do know that habitat loss, disease, invasive species, climate, and many other factors have detrimental effects on not only bees, but most wild animals, whereas glyphosate is an important method in the toolkit to counteract many environmentally harmful effects of farming. As weed ecology professor Andrew Kniss writes, if farmers would be forced to forgo glyphosate, on top of consequences like increased soil erosion and fuel use, we could well see a return to less diverse rotations.](https://thoughtscapism.com/2018/06/11/no-glyphosate-is-not-a-threat-to-bees/)
While it IS a Class 2-A carcinogen, so are most other things such as campfire smoke, red meat, and even 8 hour work shifts. I stumbled across all of this while trying to find more vids of this, which i didn't.
To animals and humans, the detergents in glyphosate sprays are more dangerous than the herbicide. It inhibits an enzyme plants have that mammals don't. You could drink a small glass of it and be fine. If you drank enough to have symptoms, it would first be from the surfactants you drank causing throat and stomach irritation.
It also breaks down almost completely into simple organic compounds in less than a month. We don't have to like glyphosate, but it is essentially the least potentially toxic herbicide you can imagine. If any other herbicide is used instead, it's going to be worse. If I had to choose between jumping into a bathtub of Roundup or being covered in clove oil or copper sulfate that some organic farmers use, it's no choice at all.
I mean, the alternative is rotenone.
It's a natural herbicide that organic farmers use and it caused Parkinson's disease in mammals, as well as wipes out fish populations.
Really nasty, nasty shit.
Edit: Holy shit, i just checked and rotenone was **finally** banned for organic farmers less than two weeks ago.
Yup but it's ok because *organic*!
It’s also an incredibly vital tool in the conservation world. Lots of invasive species would grow out of control without the use of glyphosate to selectively target their stumps.
Not to mention sun exposure and breathing in diesel fumes while you hang out of a truck bed spraying it.
Of all the things that might give me cancer later on from spraying Roundup, the Roundup is pretty far down the list.
I wonder how much of what we are seeing is possibly a product of camera frame-rate?
All of it
I'm almost positive it is. Usually glyphosate in concentrated form is slightly thicker than water.
Yeah I was confused, that almost looks like glycerin - nothing like roundup.
its like natural slo-mo pour
Looks like a simulation on r/Simulated
Oh, so this is what cancer looks like. Neat.
