Floating duck tea infuser
By - dread3ddie
"Rubber ducky, you're the one; You make tea time so much fun..."
"Rubber ducky I am awfully fond of you! Doot doot do be doot"
Oh, that would make me smile!
I have that same one. Found it at Pikes Place in Seattle in a tea and spice store.
Market Spice? God I love that place. I'll walk in just to take a deep breath and enjoy the smells. I want one of these.
Yes! I remember because we would buy the Market Spice tea.
I have one that’s shaped like a shark fin, i love this one even more though
We collect rubber ducks and we drink tea so this was a fantastic find.
Does it make me a bad person that I only like sweet black tea, and cheap teabags are fine? Am I only viewing the world through my own myopic lense if I don't like when my tea tastes like potpourri? Maybe I'm destined for diabetes. Guys, I smoked too much and now tea is making me question my mortality.
Nope, no problem with that. I still drink tea mostly from bags. There's only one loose tea that I love and that is white Jasmin pearl tea from some tea shop in Chinatown in San Francisco. However, I do love cute tea infusers and I will buy them but not really use them.
Ok so i checked. There are some on anazon but it has bad leaking problems and leaks the tea particles as soem people say. And its a gamble when you ordered them because aometimes their good, sometimes their shit.
I don't recommend ordering from Analzon for this purpose 👀
Althazon should really be avoided at all costs for tea and tea related accessories
Yeah Altinkenon is just the absolute worst place for those types of orders, any alternative would be signficantly better.
I hear Arkansas is beautiful this time of year.
I heard Alaska is pretty good too.
It really is, the internet, and Amazon, lags a couple weeks often though.
That's pretty much every item on Amazon no ?
I miss that fuckswithducks guy
What happened to him? First though I had was 'man this would get him going'.
I hope it is not made out of plastic
It could be silicone.
I looked them up and they’re actually made out of arsenic and plutonium
I'll take 2
my grampa died from a bullet specially made of arsenic and plutonium
turns out he was allergic to bullets
This is preventable, just shoot them with smaller calibers to create resistance.
just like my boba tea enema machine
Plutonium is expensive!!! I guess I'd be a fool not to buy it with these crazy savings
It’s hard plastic, and it’s made with a seam. Eventually water gets stuck up inside the duck body and doesn’t completely drain, causing mold. I had a cute one exactly like this except it was a frog. Had to throw it out. The silicone tea infusers shaped like animals are much better.
I had this exact ducky.
Never had an issue with water getting caught inside, but it was a bitch to clean and eventually started looking a little icky from tea deposits in the spots I couldn't really clean (like the narrow spot between the wing and neck).
I also had this ducky, was very cute and cozy for a while but the minute I got lazy with the dishes, it stopped looking like something I'd want to put in tea I'm about to drink... I'd recommend these tea animals only to those who are adamant about cleaning it every day
Just buy them in bulk. If it starts looking dirty just replace it with a new one and put the old one into a river or a lake where other ducks live so it doesn't feel left alone. /s
Looks like it is
I hope it uses *extra* plastic
Plastic poisoning is no joke. I know a family member of mine who has been dealing with the detoxing of plastics for years. 😱
Plastics release some sort of toxins when it comes in contact with heat. Forgot where I read it from. Someone smarter fill us in.
It is. I'm sure it's safe, there are plenty of travel mugs that are plastic.
By what logic? Lol. Heating any type of plastic with boiling liquid is a no go.
Not anymore, if it's made right. I ordered some reheatable soup travel mugs.
>DISHWASHER SAFE AND BPA FREE: It is made from polypropylene and silicone and is BPA and Phthalate Free, Dishwasher Safe, Freezer Safe and Microwave Safe (clips must be unfastened before Microwaving).
As if sellers never lie.
It's one thing to stretch the truth when selling something. It's another to make a claim that, if untrue, could cause serious health effects among their customers and open them up to lawsuits.
You can't fathom the idea that *maybe* plastics have evolved since their initial creation?
No wtf. There are plenty of plastics out there that are heat/food safe.
Just because they make it, and you “can” doesn’t make it safe.
Just because it “can” be bad for you or it “could be” made with unsafe materials doesn’t make it unsafe…
Yes, but in this application it IS bad for you. Boiling water plus plastic is bad…
You know how they chemical make up of these just by looking at them? Very impressive. Do you do any exercise other than jumping to conclusions online?…
Polypropylene. look it up.
Thanks for the advice.
Polypropylene, which is derived from petroleum, is considered by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to be a safer choice than some other types of plastics. It’s not known to cause cancer in humans, and it’s less flammable in fabrics than wool.
It’s important to note, however, that some newer research does point to toxicity in certain polypropylene containers.
The researchers in a 2019 study looked at many kinds of plastic in a wide range of products. They found that the toxicity of a particular plastic varied dramatically from product to product because of each product’s manufacturing process.
In this study, researchers found that some polypropylene products affected androgen hormones and caused a toxic or stress response in cells.
More research is needed, especially since plastics are chemically complex, and each product could have different effects.
Safer possibly, still not using it.
It is plastic. Been using it for about 6 years now. I don't think it's affected me... I hope.
I have one of these. It’s definitely plastic, but the description says it’s BPA free. Is that bad?
That means it’s fine. If it’s also dishwasher safe it’s definitely fine.
And for everyone about to leap on me for “manufacturers lie”: 1) that’s illegal and the fine plus the bad press is decidedly not cheap and 2) it would be instantly obvious the first time the ducky was used/washed, since non-heat safe plastics *tend to react to heat*. So assuming the ducky has been exposed to hot water/tea and doesn’t look like frankenducky, it’s fine.
Thanks! Yes, the little duckie has been ruthlessly tossed into boiling water repeatedly and has not reacted at all. Good to know it isn’t going to get revenge on me via poisoning.
The duck shat in the water
Where else is a duck gonna do it?
Oh! So THAT'S the function of a rubber duck!
You're never alone with a rubber duck.
Mr Weasley will be so happy!
Oh, let me pour boiling hot water over this "Made in China" mystery plastic, and hope it doesn't poison me.
Mmmm, chemical leeching.
I HAVE THIS ONE! My parents bought me this because I wanted a souvenir from our trip to US in 2012. It's pretty good quality actually, but I've used it probably 5 times in total since then
I have the same one and I’ve used it probably 1,000 times.
Too much plastic... in my cup
i just love to have some plastic in my tea.
This is cute, but if you look on Amazon for infusers you can find the one and only Teazus infuser. It is a "Jesus" infuser giving you two thumbs up and, as promised, he turns water into Tea! Probably makes wine if you use holy water??? Is it sacrilege or a good way to start your day with Teazus?
Will smell like rubber from that heat. Hope it's silicon.
I saw on Amazon they're bpa free but feel like a normal rubber duck.
Micro plastic hss joined the server
Always been here
I have this. It's decent. The mesh screen basket is fine enough to contain the tea without a ton of crap ending up in your cup. However, it isn't the most skookum connection to the ducky, so you have to be mindful not to damage the duck or the basket when connecting them together.
Plastic in hot water? There come the estrogens.
Get that nice authentic plastic tea taste.
Ducks go in cups!
This person gets it!
Sorry my bad, I just go. Ball.
Now with extra BPA
Wow, not a single fuckswithducks comment here. Am I old now?
I popped in to laugh at all the comments like the good ole days but obviously we're on our way to pepperidge farm
I hope the material the duck is made up of is safe for use at elevated temperatures. You don't want to infuse harmful carcinogens in your tea.
Yaaay! Plastic in my hot water tea! :)
I have one like this but it’s a frog!
I have a flamingo one, and a unicorn one. I love them!
Doesn’t look like it works that well… see the leakage at the bottom of the mug?
I hope there’s mushrooms in there.
Mmm yes but make sure to add lemon juice and let them sit for 10 minutes, then into the water and tea mmm yes sir
Lol why you being downvoted
I love my tea duckie!
Things you get as a gift that you use twice and put in a drawer until spring cleaning when you consider throwing it away but remember who gave it to you a decide you will use it now! Repeat.
plastic in hot water you will be drinking is sort of a bad idea
This sub is like 80% garbage
Mmm Chinese plastic in your tea. Enjoy your cancer.
I have that one! I haven't used it in a long time. But I know where it is!
Dammit now I want one too.
My wife bought that for me about 6 years ago. Still use it every now and then.
Where could i find one. My family drinks tea relogiously and i need it. This is a serious qurstion, where could i find one?
If you Google them they're on Amazon and other stores.
Scrolled too fast and saw "Floating dick"...
I have this exact one! I wish the mesh compartment clipped into the duck a bit better, but it's so cute so I continue to use it!
I have a frog on a lily pad version!
Pfft I just saw a duck do the same
I'm definitely ordering one of these for my sister for Christmas. Looks like they're BPA free so they seem ok.
I like that
I'm not sure what I expected, but I did expect more.
Magic in the Mirror vibes
Feels sort of savage pouring boiling water on the nice duck. I don't like it.
Just tea, thank you OP
I have that electric kettle. It is awesome.
That thing can go places..
It's cute but metal tea infusers are a pain in the ass to clean. Just get yourself a pack of empty teabags for your loose leaf.
I have one of those for my pool.
I need that
Duck poops in water
and yet my normal rubber ducky floats sideways all the time, what gives?
Nobody nobody no body nobody no
Nothing like that hot plastic flavor
"We need to talk about the ducks."
Just the one duck, actually
Looks like a cup of phthalates to me!
Nono I don’t want swimming pool vibe on my tea mug
The awkward kiss the duck every time you try to dip your tea
Curious if the ducky alters the flavor of the brew.
So this makes tea = duck pee?
I've been using it to put chlorine in my pool
Where is space for milk in that mug? Too much water
Green tea doesn't need milk
edit: i'm fumking stoopid
I want this and I want it now
Mine has never floated straight up and down wtf
I would burn myself a lot if the tea bounced off the infuser
You don't because it's too big and stupid
If cute TAKE MY MONEY
Now there’s a redditor who wants to stick his dick in your tea.
Would it work with coffee?
I have a mana-tea one from Florida. So cute!
Duck is pooping lol
I have two!!! They are great
plastic and hot water is not good for consumption
Got any grapes?
Finally someone understands that ducks go in cups!
That just sounds like something else to clean and an extra step
Well, that's just ducky.
Bro this would go great with my rubber duck collection
Nice! I have a submarine for my tea 😁
It should feel like drinking tea out of the bath tub
it's cute, but you lose any medicinal benefit of herbal tea when not covering and keeping the steam in!
Mind If I get a cup oh coffee mate?
