Ted Cruz on steroids
Huh. I guess he's never heard of the Establishment Clause.
Isn't it funny how many of these Constitution touting conservatives never bothered to take the time to read the fucking thing?
They seem to just think that the Constitution and the Bill of Rights are "whatever I want them to say right now."
*Peril* just brought up the "Will you shut up, man?" line from the Biden vs. Donnie debates and goddamn: easily one of my favorite moments.
I already liked him but I gained so much more respect for Biden in that moment.
Although one critique I'd give: it's pretty common knowledge Donnie spent a ton of his time watching Fox instead of handling matters of governance.
I'd like it if the book mentioned that a bit. Instead, so far, it's mentioned when he's claimed he had other things to deal with, so he couldn't deal with pressing issues and had to leave; the entire narrative would take on a different tone if it was revealed that those other pressing issues were watching Fox and Friends or Sean Hannity instead of, you know, sticking around for security briefings that included essential information.
>[The Biden-Harris administration has created more jobs in our first eight months than any other administration in American history.](https://twitter.com/kamalaharris/status/1452446060618686464?s=21)
You love to see it. Let’s go, Madam VP!
I beat you to a VP Kamala Harris post for once!
I’ve only commented about her three times today probably a low lol
Probably because I was paying attention to sports all of today lmfao
It *was* Sunday Night Football, I think you get a pass on that one
Is DeSantis secretly ACAB? More first responders have died to covid than gunshots during the pandemic.
Shh, you’ll give accelerationist Twitter ideas. /s
I don't even have words for how much a piece of shit DeSantis is. His actions transcend being political or supporting republicans (though I'm confident he's happy to watch thousands die at the altar of his own vanity). At this point, it just seems like he wants as many people as possible to catch COVID and die. It's like he's a villain in a shit B-movie who just wants to harm as many people as he can.
Like, I might not agree but I can vaguely see some of the COVID skeptic arguments even if I think they're a crock of shit. But DeSantis isn't a skeptic: he's just straight up pro-COVID.
They call him DeathSentence for a reason...
Oh, that's a new one, I usually call him DeathSanta cause he seems insistent on killing as many people as possible before Christmas. Florida has the highest senior citizen population of any state, to my knowledge, and they're vulnerable: he shouldn't be such a fucking asshole and so insistent on hurting them.
I’m so scattered today.
All I'm saying: you can always tell when the conservative trolls come out on a particular political subreddit. 10:30 at night or so, a lot of times, and there's suddenly a proliferation of right-wing sites flooding the new queue. Very natural that NYPost and Fox are suddenly getting spammed...
Is it rrrr politics? I’ve noticed that people post right wing shit there sometimes but it typically gets taken off.
It's usually because they post it without the proper headlines (one of the rules is that it has to match the article's headline), but if you pull up the comments before it's removed, conservative OPs typically love to complain about censorship for not following the rules and having their shit removed.
“Rules for thee but not for me”
-the slogan of all conservatives
Don't forget the classic follow up when they face consequences for not following the rules: "cAnCeL cUlTuRe!"
Ugh we’re not getting to 1,000 comments today 😔😔😔
To be fair, we do seem to kinda slow down when it's not election season or there's not a major political event. We're still a pretty small sub, all things considered
Yeah this is actually a high number of comments for a Sunday lol
I'm so sad the Lakers finally won
Just another day on Reddit it seems. Neolib is dooming as per usual, and PrequelMemes is circlejerking over the Martez sisters again. Like hell people, I'm not the biggest fan of that arc either, but it doesn't actually make me like, angry or shit.
I have taken am appreciation of hermancainaward having shitpost Sunday. Today had too much tik tok, but was still good.
Neolib is one of those subs I just can't quite "get," they seem to be all over the place in their opinions and attitudes whenever I browse/lurk. That's probably why I don't often post over there
It’s like Missouri. Missouri is basically three states: Dixieland in the Southeast, Unionist Republicans in the Southwest, and the Midwest/farm belt in the North. Similarly, Neolib is the Never-Trump Republicans, Communists, and center-left Democrats.
Yeah, considering the post I saw yesterday about how Reagan was a better president than FDR, I can kinda see that.
The shame is that to my knowledge, it was meant to be a center-left sub, but those other two groups crammed themselves into the conversation. But then, that's kinda how they operate. That's also why, for one example, /enlightenedcentrism turned from mocking "both sides are the same" people into "both sides are the same, we need to worship Stalin!"
I'm about done with Neolib.
I apologize for posting a barstool tweet (I don’t follow them. This Detroit affiliate contaminates my tl and twitter thinks the tweet is about Batman)
But holy shit what a save. https://twitter.com/bsmotorcity/status/1452447512334327824?s=21
I would be so pissed if I was the person who shot that lmfao

Wtf is this
8 year HHS Secretary.
Yeah but why would you want an endorsement from someone who lost a district in 2018 that Biden was able to win ( when he did terribly in that area)
Yea you're right.

[You're barely even a real doctor, Rand Paul, shut the fuck up](https://twitter.com/axios/status/1452400059941892101) and listen to the epidemiologist who has spent his entire life studying infectious diseases and working to contain them.
Like, shit, between Paul pulling this shit, republicans in general opposing masks and vaccines, DeSantis giving financial incentive to cops who refuse vaccines (while governing the state with the highest number of senior [read: vulnerable] citizens), and all of the other antivax shit the GQP is spewing: do they really want to just kill innocent citizens or what? They've crossed the line into just straight up jeopardizing lives and being assholes to spite Democrats. It doesn't make one iota of sense.
At the rate they're going, the republicans are basically putting China and Russia out of a job when it comes to "hating the USA."
Republicans went to Russia on July fucking Fourth. They utterly despise this country.
Fuck Rand Paul
Ok, so I'm thinking about seeing Dune. Is it any good? (No spoilers please btw).
If you like Lord of The Rings movies then you will probably like Dune.
Those are some of my favorites actually! I'm definitely seeing it then!
It’s awesome, but I’m also a fan of the books.
I've meant to read the books for a while now, I just need to find the time...
Yes, it is amazing. I love political drama is like Game of Thrones meets Star Wars. There's a lot of world-building, but it feels natural and friendly to newcomers who never read the books.
The costume and set pieces are fantastic to make it feel like the world is real.
I saw it in IMAX but the music and sound immerse you more in the world. I love the sound of the worms of thumb. The music gets tone scenes so right as Paul's dream feels like prophet music.
The cinemaphotography is beautiful and the desert scenes remind me of Lawrence of Arabia.
I highly recommend watching Dune in IMAX if you can because it deserves watch in theaters, not at home.
Well it sound right up my alley (especially the part about being newcomer friendly)!! Thanks!
I'd almost count that as one tbh, last time that shit happened there was an entire team that wasn't even in the league yet
> Carmelo Climbs to 9th
Oh yeah, Melo used to be really good at basketball for like 12 years, always forget he's this historical—wonder what megastar he passed?
> With this basket, Carmelo Anthony passed Moses Malone for 9th place on NBA all-time scoring list
Betcha didn't know there's an actual discussion over who the best Malone in NBA history. 2 of them in the scoring top 10. There was also Jeff Malone who played for the Jazz with Karl for a few seasons and was an All-Star. The All-Malone team is probably the best in history.
Moses Malone has 3 MVPs and outplayed Kareem in a finals. Was the best player on a 76ers team that went 12-1 in the playoffs to win the championship that swept Kareem and Magic's Lakers. Is arguably the greatest rebounder ever.
Man was a walking 30-30
Also was a great NBA mentor/teacher
Golden era of basketball
Honestly didn't know he had 3, I knew he had at least one but damn, impressive. Center really is the deepest all-time talent position by a longshot. Also, the hell is with Malones and being good at basketball? Moses, Karl... *checks "Malone" on BBall Ref*
Hell, even Jeff Malone was a 2× All-Star who averaged 19ppg in his career.
I see you already looked up Jeff Malone. All 3 of them were unrelated and they briefly all played in the league at the same time. Karl and Jeff even played together
They traded him for Hornacek because Hornacek had the three point shooting while Jeff Malone did not.
Yeah Hornacek was a modern wing shooter while Jeff Malone was the old fashioned wing slasher and midrange guy. Hornacek would have been better in today's game. Jeff Malone was also basically done by the time they made that trade.
I was fully expecting Jeff to be some scrub to ruin my "wow, Malones are really good" thing. Gotta love the Jazz collecting Malones like they're Pokemon cards!
I definitely see the debate between Moses and Karl for best Malone, they're evenly comparable players I'd say
Moses won 3 MVPs and a title, but Karl had more longevity and had an almost LeBron length prime. He also won 2 MVPs and would have won a chip and probably a third MVP if Jordan had been good at baseball. On ESPNs list of the greatest of all time they put Karl exactly one spot ahead of Moses (highest spot for a ringless player)
Disgustingly enough, I probably agree with ESPN...that felt awful to type. But definitely agreed. What Karl lacked in accolades, he made up for in stats and having almost 37k points. Also a ton more All-NBA, but that isn't really massively important. Overall they're really parallel guys tbh
Just think, if Jordan kept playing baseball, Malone wins the 97 MVP and title, probably repeats both in 98 and then probably still wins his 99 MVP but likely still loses to the Spurs like in our timeline. With 2 rings, he doesn't go to LA in 04 and instead sticks with his original plan: stay with the Jazz for one more year after Stockton retired and just go all out and break the scoring record. He probably would have too. Like he might have even been considered the GOAT if not for MJ. At the very least top 5 all time.
Malone's off-court...incidents...are everything holding him back and making him, for my money, the most underrated player in NBA history. So much happens if the 13th best basketball player of all time just keeps playing baseball, it's so crazy to think about
You know the worst part? If Malone was the consensus GOAT people would make excuses for it. You know they would. You've seen it happen.
LeBron would also probably be considered the GOAT by now, he would have surpassed Malone in most people's eyes
I think Moses Malone is the 2nd best Rocket ever...not Harden. That's my not hot take.
Agree. 3 MVPs, rebound leader 6 times, 10th in points(gee thanks Melo). Also, I hate the "rings" argument, but Malone won a championship with the Rockets, Harden got pissy that he couldn't and jumped ship to join a superteam. Case closed imo
You mean Malone made the NBA finals with the Rockets while Harden didn't, I assume? Because Malone won his championship with the 76ers in 1983. But in 1981, he made the NBA finals with the Rockets.
But yeah I agree with you on Harden qutting. That was kind of pathetic.
Shit, yeah😅I read his wiki wrong, got Rockets and Sixers mixed up
Yeah. That FO gave him everything he asked for and he still couldn't get it done. That's on him, not the organization
The 1/6 bombshells that came out tonight can only mean one thing: Hunter Biden is going to be trending again any minute now
I must've missed a couple headlines, mind throwing out a brief summary?
Also the Rolling Stones story.
Oh, I did see that one, it was just in the early morning hours so I for some reason thought it was yesterday
I just can't understand how all these people are so delusional they'd go to these lengths for Donald Trump of all people. I might as well dig the next shit I take out of my toilet and pledge it my undying loyalty. I'm diving into Woodward/Costa's *Peril* at the moment and holy shit: there've been a lot of stories that came out of that administration about Donald and how unhinged he was, but he really cranked it up in the final months.
I just found [this.](https://www.rollingstone.com/politics/politics-news/exclusive-jan-6-organizers-met-congress-white-house-1245289/amp/?__twitter_impression=true)
>Along with Greene, the conspiratorial pro-Trump Republican from Georgia who took office earlier this year, the pair both say the members who participated in these conversations or had top staffers join in included Rep. Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.), Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.), Rep. Mo Brooks (R-Ala.), Rep. Madison Cawthorn (R-N.C.), Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.), and Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas). ...
Well, this I don't find surprising.
>And Gosar, who has been one of the most prominent defenders of the Jan. 6 rioters, allegedly took things a step further. Both sources say he dangled the possibility of a “blanket pardon” in an unrelated ongoing investigation to encourage them to plan the protests.
But yeah, holy shit, this is a pretty big bombshell. I **really** hope these fuckers face some consequences for this. They should be rotting in prison for the rest of their lives for planning a terrorist attack on the Capitol.
Definitely helps to explain why so many of these republican scumbags have been scrambling to try and cover up the evidence and attack the Committee investigating 1/6.
And ~~Greene~~ Boebert live-tweeting Pelosi's location makes even more sense.
I think that was Boebert? But it's bugged the shit out of me from the moment it happened. If the GQP was actually a functioning party instead of a conglomeration of domestic terrorists, conspiracists, and obstructionists, that'd have been it. She should've been expelled as soon as Congress reconvened in a unanimous vote.
Can you imagine if some dirtbag had tweeted out Bush's location on 9/11?
That was Boebart, if I remember correctly

nice to see you….
It’s beeeeeen aaaaaa looooong tiiiiiiiiiime
every time I watch something about the Beatles I want to listen to their albums and I just don't know which one to hit up because they're all great
The ones I listened to the most are Anthology 2, Magical Mystery Tour and Yellow Submarine. I will fight anybody who criticizes the later 2.
The white album
not a bad idea
This Ja Morant guy is pretty good at this basketball thing, eh?
The 49er stadium seems to have a lot of empty seats
Jeez, Bears only put up 3. Aaron Rodgers is the worst owner in the NFL today
Some guy named Wardell just became the 69th player in NBA history with 5,000 assists

Commenting "I can't think of something to comment" means that I've thought of something to comment.
I feel like such a weirdo being a Texan who dislikes bbq. There’s just so much *meat*. And it’s usually pork, which is so gross to me. Fried ocra is the shit though.
Wait, but Texas BBQ is usually primarily beef? Like, there can definitely be pulled pork or pork ribs, but brisket is the main thing. On the other hand, I love BBQ, but don't like the traditional style potato salad or cole slaw that often go with it, hate okra in all forms (that slimy interior), and don't like guacamole (it's the texture, again), so I have my own "weird Texan" things.
Hopefully we can agree that pecan pie, made right, is one of the best pies ever.
No it’s usually pork. Pork ribs & pulled pork. Yeah there is brisket as well, which I will eat sometimes, but regardless it’s too much meat for me lol.
Oh yes we can definitely agree on pecan pie. :)
Ahh, well, I usually order/make brisket when I have BBQ, and I feel like that's usually the centerpiece of Texas-style BBQ (vs. pork seems to dominate other states' BBQ styles), but you're definitely right that it's a *lot* of meat. I usually only eat it a couple times a year as a special occasion kind of thing.
If you say anything negative about Tex-Mex, I’ll file eviction papers.
Haha never. It’s my favorite type of food.
*sees the Lakers score*
I've seen enough. The Lakers are ass.
>[Ed Sullivan] defied pressure to exclude African American entertainers, and to avoid interacting with them when they did appear. "Sullivan had to fend off his hard-won sponsor, Ford's Lincoln dealers, after kissing Pearl Bailey on the cheek and daring to shake Nat King Cole's hand," Nachman wrote. According to biographer Jerry Bowles, "Sullivan once had a Ford executive thrown out of the theatre when he suggested that Sullivan stop booking so many black acts. And a dealer in Cleveland told him 'We realize that you got to have n\*ggers on your show. But do you have to put your arm around Bill 'Bojangles' Robinson at the end of his dance?' Sullivan had to be physically restrained from beating the man to a pulp." Sullivan later raised money to help pay for Robinson's funeral. "As a Catholic, it was inevitable that I would despise intolerance, because Catholics suffered more than their share of it," he told an interviewer. "As I grew up, the causes of minorities were part and parcel of me. Negroes and Jews were the minority causes closest at hand. I need no urging to take a plunge in and help."

Two pet peeves: non-fiction books that have decent length introductions/prologues but count the pages in Roman numerals. Looking at you, *Peril*, by Woodward and Costa. That prologue is longer than most of the book's chapters and messes up my internal page count for the day.
And second: why can I purchase Mrs. Renfro's in store for $3-4 but if I decide to order it online to directly support the company, it's like $8.75-10 a jar? Usually it seems like buying direct from the producer brings down the price, doesn't make it more than double.
Isn’t that following whatever style manual they’re using?
My nonfiction pet peeve is when they put all the pictures together in the middle instead of with the corresponding text
That bugs me too
Unfortunately, in my experience, that is pretty much always the way more recent books are organized. At least in the non-fiction I read
It's a way of saving money, since it's cheaper to print the pictures separately than to use the heavier glossy paper needed for photos throughout.
Interesting, TIL, thanks!
The only thing I don’t like about going to Seahawk games is I don’t get to give commentary here lol
I don't have a horse in this race, but this might be the most interesting game I've watched so far today cause it's pretty competitive.

I really wish they'd remaster Yellow Submarine again. Despite not having their actual voices, the thing is a work of art and George Martin's score is amazing. I had the 1999 release on VHS but someone borrowed it and I never got it back. I saw a DVD version that's worth a lot of money.

Trump's shit attorney is apparently trying to trademark "truthing," "retruth," "follow the truth," and "post a truth." Sometimes, it really does seem like we're living in a shitty parody.
That stupid asshole wouldn't know the truth if it danced around in a Borat swimsuit and gave him a golden shower.
Folks with ESPN+, is the 30 for 30 episode called the Pony Excess about SMU and the death penalty on there?
Yeah it’s there
EDIT: Also what on earth does the death penalty have to do with SMU???
I'm not seeing "30 For 30" attached to it so maybe there's something else with the same name, but from a quick search, a title called 'Pony Excess' that's one hour and forty-three minutes is listed as an ESPN film and is available, yes
Awesome, you're the MVP. If I had coins I'd give you gold. I'm thinking of subscribing since I've heard that one's good
Thanks, kinda surprised I'm the first one to comment and have it. Dunno if you've already got Hulu, but after the move I decided to pick up Disney+ in addition, and it was the same cost to just get the Disney Bundle which had all three so I figured I might as well. Though I think this is only the second time I've used ESPN+ haha
u/CurryMVP2 do you have ESPN+?
Unfortunately no. Do you?
No, I'm considering getting it just for the documentaries though
Yeah, I have NFL Sunday Ticket and NBA league pass.

I don’t have ESPN+ I was only able to watch the Kraken game bc I have Hulu
My new favorite Reddit hobby is to visit bad NFL team subs and read their post game comments. I’m actually crying from laughter at some of them 😂
I'm rewatching Superstore because it's *fucking hilarious,* and this just really makes me sad that it got cancelled. There's a bit of eyerolling stuff in there(especially in the later seasons IIRC), but it's...a really damn good show.
What do you mean by eye-rolling stuff (*I haven’t watched the show)?
There's a few jokes/scenes, especially in the later seasons, that lean towards a bit of leftist/brocialist whining, but the good is definitely worth dealing with those
Discovered that gem randomly on cable while at my parents’ house one weekend and my dad and I thought it was hysterical. Especially dad because he used to stock groceries at Wal-Mart. We binged watched the whole first season that weekend lol. Bummed it got cancelled

My English professor cancelled class again for tomorrow, had to call in sick. Man this poor soul I swear.
God, I had this awful professor that would cancel class two hours before it was supposed to start. So, I'd be on the train on my way and find out right there.. she did it on Thursday for 3 weeks straight. One time she came back showing us pictures of a little vacation she took that weekend!
She also cancelled class twice when she was supposed to have a review (where a supervisor sits on the class) ..
The real kicker, they terminated her but had her stay on till the end of the semester and she tanked everyone's grades, had a screaming and crying meltdown while we were giving presentations. So everyone went and complained to the counselors and the dean but they wouldn't wipe the grade or let us contest it. I straight up dropped out after that mess. 300 dollars down the drain for that course. I don't qualify for student loans.
I am so glad I don’t have to deal with any of that and that my shit is entirely paid through grants lmao.
Couldn’t he/she call in a sub or something

This is college/university m8.
Not Elementary, Middle, or High School lmao.

As a kid, Miami calling themselves "The U" always confused me because that's what we always call the University of Utah here, and not just the football team.
I already told you how I lived in Utah when the King-Size Homer ep came out and thought Mr. Burns went to BYU?
This is why I prefer UMD or UMCP to UM. To be fair, you only really see UM around campus, so it's never really confusing.
I also got confused when I watched the Karate Kid and he talked about "The Y" (as in the YMCA) because sometimes people call BYU that (although not as often as Utah is called the U)
I thought you were a 49ers fan
