Maybe now they think the bear strangled her. Ffs. People baffle me.
Cause of death- strangulation
Automod must be slow today - hmmm...
I think we get clarification on cause of death and time of death today. I also think they close in on Brian today. Obviously I have nothing to go on for that last one, just hope!
Lol they don’t seem to be in a big rush to find him.
A friend of BL speaks out and said he was a chubby social outcast in school, mentions he was interested in guns https://www.the-sun.com/news/3813476/gabby-petito-brian-laundrie-school-outcast-heavy-guns/
There are a lot of chubby social outcasts who go on to do great things that do not include killing their SOs.
I agree. It was just the headline of the article, not my title.
I know, it's just shit like this perpetuates harmful stereotypes and further ostracizes children that look a certain way or have niche interests.
Is antisocial personality disorder a perpetuation or stereotype? Just saying, what you're indicating might hold fast as a general rule but there are trained experts and psychologists who would say that, in some cases, antisocial behavior absolutely has something to do with their overall personality and propensity to do things against society and societal norms. I'm not saying this is indicative of what's going on here, but I found this comment a little off-kilter.
Do we have any evidence that he was suffering from antisocial personality disorder? Antisocial personality disorder doesn't just mean you're chubby with no friends. Antisocial PD includes a blatant disregard for right and wrong, a feeling of superiority, failure to maintain work and personal obligations, blatant disrespect of others, criminal activity, etc. Up to the point where Gabby was murdered we have no indication BL exhibited any of these behaviors and I would be skeptical of diagnosing him via the internet. Only a doctor or psychiatrist can do that.
ETA: if you want to look at antisocial in teenagers, Dylan Klebold is a good one to look at for signs. He did feel superior, hated all of his classmates, had blatant disrespect for them, etc. He was also the weird kid in school but he took it to another level. He had a stockpile of guns, was a recluse at home, and was planning the Columbine massacre well in advance.
Maybe you should reread my comment, I specifically stated that I wasn't indicating that was what was going on here.
However, I'm glad to see you read up on antisocial personality disorder! Learn new things everyday, and it will behoove you to not pretend you know everything.
You're the one who brought up antisocial personality disorder so I'm not sure what you're on about.
I had a dream of BL in hand cuffs doing his Tommy pickles duck walk into the courtroom to have the judge hand him a death penalty sentence
Upvoted for Tommy Pickles reference. What a blast from the past.
Orange jumpsuit dreams, I like it
He’s not getting the death penalty so that definitely was a dream.
You sure? He committed murder in the 1sr degree possibly
This thread has officially lasted longer than my last relationship.
will you just stop, your posts aren't sticking and it's annoying
You are likely placing yourself squarely in ban territory if you keep trying to do that.
Let the mods be the mods.
Did they tell you specifically you can post general discussion threads?
Where? Everything i saw was deleted.
You obviously are not understanding what several people have told you, so, I’m done with this conversation.
Have a good day!
lmfaoooo , who tf asked you to post anything in the first place??? obviously if you thought it was due to ppl downvoting , wouldn't ya get the point that maybe by the 3rd time to stop it? get over yourself man- no one needs you to announce your departure
It says removed. I promise I'm not down voting it
People might be downvoting because if a non-mod makes a discussion thread, itll just get deleted by a mod as soon as they wake up.
Maybe whatever you are putting in the body of your thread might be setting off the automodbot, since certain words are flagged...
Hi, I looked through our ModMail and I don’t see any communication from you. The posts are not automatically hidden due to downvotes, they were removed due to Rule 8 which is “No Backseat Moderation.” Posting in this sub is fine, and you are well within the limits to make posts, but general discussion posts are Mod or AutoMod specific.
**They’re being deleted by Automod**.
Being downvoted makes a thread not float to the top of the subreddit, but doesn’t hide it.
You misinterpreted what the mods said, because that’s simply not how Reddit’s voting systems works.
Hey no dog in this hunt but your post was removed. Downvotes don’t remove posts.
There’s been other posts that have been downvoted to oblivion and not removed, i have a feeling it just needs to be a mod starting a new general discussion post. You tried. Its fine. One of em will wake up eventually.
Yesterday a new discussion thread was posted by automod and a mod deleted it, even though it had comments, and started a new one 20 minutes later.
That’s because the comments were accidentally set to “contest mode”.
Posts get removed by downvotes???
Edit: someone answered my question. I didn't think so.
Reddit automatically hides severely downvoted posts, but they are not removed. People can just click on the post & it will unroll and it can be read. We have nothing to do with downvoted posts eventually being hidden (just the user name will show on the app with the # of downvotes. If a user taps it, they can read. Nothing is actually deleted or removed.
Thank you for clarifying!
They do not.
I know you are trying to be helpful but I think there is a “no backseat moderation” rule against acting like a mod if you aren’t one.
I think we can continue here without any problem.
I think only automod can post them.
Mary Queen of Squats - awesome user name 👏😆❤️
> i am allowed to post.
Clearly not. No ones downvoting your post, automod is automatically deleting it.
It’s hot being hidden because of downvotes. It literally says “removed” which means *IT WAS REMOVED*, probably by Automod.
That means you made two posts with the word “**removed**” as the body of the post.
That’s not how Reddit works. It says removed. Others downvoting a thread doesn’t cause it to be removed, only a mod can do that. So a mod is removing the post after a couple minutes each time because they only want the automod to post the general discussion threads.
We told you it had nothing to do with downvotes.
Automod or an actual mod should post the GD.
apple - let it go.
New one also removed.
Did I get my dates mixed up?
Happy Columbus Day Everyone!
Oh no, can you say that? So much hate towards him. Lol
Thanks you too! (Wasn't that yesterday though?)
We're still on the October 11th thread...but looks like a mod finally woke up.
Any Mods here? Where is the new discussion thread for today?
Fine with staying here. No issue.
They're currently taking down the memorial in Florida 😕 🦋
I know they're moving it to a more permanent location. It's still sad.
They are giving it to Gabby’s family because some things are getting damaged. They are already working on something permanent. So, It’s not a bad thing.
Things were getting damaged from the elements, so the city of North Port is removing them and giving the things to her parents and will be making a more permanent memorial.
Where is the 10/12 morning thread??????
Maybe they’re gearing up for today’s super thread
I missed the whole mod drama - are there different mods now than when this thing started? So confused.
Idk about different mods but I know some mods are gone now. But the whole situation just seems like it was handled by high schoolers and was needlessly dramatic.
I thought it was automatic lol
Automod just adapting to its surroundings
Needs more melon rinds
October 11th again? Is this our new Groundhog Day?
Hoping the press conference today brings us a step closer to finding BL and a step closer for Gabby's family to gaining closure.
Don’t get your hopes up.
I feel at best we would get a we found his dna under her finger nails and possibly a she died by such and such manner.
That’s probably about it
That's still a development. I'm not expecting an "it was Brian in the Van with a Candlestick" kind of press conference.
Your original comment said hopes it brings us closer to finding Brian. I was just saying i don’t think it will. It’ll probably just cement some info we already know.
I completely agree with you
Why is this thread 25 hours old?! New vibes needed!
Not enough posts to make a new one yet
No. The last GD thread had 1k less than this one. But idk how it works. Mods hands tied or something? Does not matter much, I’m just lazy.
AutoMod must still be asleep
Wakey Wakey - time to find Brian.
It is now October 12th....
Thought the same thing!!!!
good morning to everyone except for the trolls in this thread and BL. justice for gabby 🦋
Now that’s a good morning I can get onboard with.
Good Morning, this is for the attorneys... I keep seeing attorneys talk on TV talking about 180 days. From what I remember they said if they put out a warrant for his arrest for murder they have 180 days due to the speedy trial laws to prosecute him or it goes away. I might have the wording wrong but from what I understand they have 180 days after they issue a warrant that's why they weren't quick to issue the warrant for murder. Is that correct or did I misunderstand?
It would start after his arraignment, which is formally charging him from a judge. If it was 180 days after a warrant was issued everyone would just hide out for six months and never go to trial.
That's what I thought and why I was so confused.
Sometimes attorneys (and doctors, scientists, etc.) don't have good communication skills with laymen so it comes out jumbled. You ever had someone tell you something really complicated that makes complete sense to them but you're just sitting there like 'uhhh, uh huh'?
SPEEDY TRIAL RIGHTS IN FLORIDA
In Florida, the Sixth Amendment right to a ‘Speedy Trial’ is outlined in Rule 3.191, Florida Rule of Criminal Procedure, which provides:
[E]very person charged with a crime shall be brought to trial within 90 days of arrest if the crime charged is a misdemeanor, or within 175 days of arrest if the crime charged is a felony.
[from Hussein and Webber](https://www.husseinandwebber.com/case-work/criminal-defense-articles/speedy-trial-in-florida/)
With it being a federal warrant, would this still apply here?
So does that mean the 180 days would start after they arrested him? Hmm. Also if it's a federal law does that supersede the state's laws?
No; it depends on where charges are filed. If the feds file the murder charge then federal law applies, which will be more likely in this case. Florida law clearly indicates it starts based on the charge.
I believe the feds base on the [speedy trial act](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speedy_Trial_Act)
. The information or indictment must be filed within 30 days from the date of arrest or service of the summons. 18 U.S.C. § 3161(b). Trial must commence within 70 days from the date the information or indictment was filed, or from the date the defendant appears before an officer of the court in which the charge is pending, whichever is later. 18 U.S.C. § 3161(c)(1).
So basically that is saying it's from the moment he is summons or arrested those time frames go into effect? Sorry I'm still drinking coffee this morning my brain is so slow
No- he’d have to appear before the court before the time limit kicked in for that; however if he appears before the court for the credit card theft, the feds could then a month later indict him on the murder charge then the 175 days for the murder charge would start from that later date.
That makes way more sense, thank you so much for clearing that up for me
Not a problem!
No attorney here but - Misdemeanor warrants may be treated differently, with a 180 day or one year expiration date established when it was issued.
I think it depends on the charge, and I believe they can be reissued as well.
See what this attorney alluded to was that after the 180 days it was gone forever They couldn't recharge him. But I might have completely misunderstood that.
An arrest warrant won't expire for homicide. They can't try someone twice for the same crime. Maybe that's what he was referring to?
Hmmmm I am also confused about that statement. I was reviewing some Wyoming laws this morning and came across that snippet I commented. Otherwise I think it would be weird if a serious charge can expire.
Murder has no statute of limitations. Speedy trial would be from date of arrest.
Thank you for the clarity, annie.
That's what I thought. Hmm.
I have to say, my interest in the case is slowing a bit. We don't have a lot to go off of, and I think BL is dead so I'm losing hope of seeing him convicted of his crimes.
The problem is, we need people to stay interested to increase the chances of finding BL. People ridicule true crime entertainment and its fans, but having Madeleine McCann and Kristin Smart's faces plastered all over tv and phone poles for 20 years is what motivated LE to continue the search and finally arrest the perpetrators. I don't want the world to forget about BL and let him live on the AT or in some remote FL town for years and years.
Just some morning thoughts. Not sure what to do
Same. Almost a grinding halt last week. Lack of development, waning interest, media cannot sustain the coverage like they have been...wind came out of the sails over the course of the weekend.
There's intrigue, there's mystery in this case but nothing new to it to keep fresh ideas or voices going.
Lets see what todays news conference brings. I'm sure it'll bring some attention even if it doesn't offer much in terms of progress and if it lacks progress, I'm with you, not sure what to do.
Yeah and his parents being tight lipped keeps the news slow too
Oddly Gabby being found seemed to slow the intrigue
I say let’s see what the autopsy report says later today, it could change everything
Hmm not much activity in this sub this morning
The search was never open to volunteers and the fbi won't be swayed by reddit users
Is this sarcasm?
Its not even 8am on the east coast yet
True lol east coast here, I just woke up 30 min ago and am in bed. Sometimes there’s some conversation in the morning
Enjoy some coffee first!
I think it’s going to be slow until the autopsy conference
*Wet & Wild theory
Yeah, it's possible he's anywhere. He might have snuck in Jeff Bezos' ship and be on the moon.
My wild theory of the day:
\- Once the autopsy is released, BL gets his charges upped to manslaughter or murder, probably along with a couple of more related to fleeing.
\- The FBI has been narrowing in on BL over the last few days quietly, and once the charges change, will get many more resources.
\-BL is snagged by the end of the week, anywhere but Florida.
Well someone's theory has to stick so let's hope its this one!
I dont think there will be anything in an autopsy report showing he killed her. It will prolly just confirm the prelimin result of homocide. It wont tell them who killed her. Just more of how.
No his dna there wont help. It should be there. they lived in a van together. Of course his dna and or hair or fibers from his clothing or whateever will be there.
Some in this sub should brace themselfs for the toxicology results. We all got secrets.
Yep. If it comes back she was a heavy drug user it will ruin the image many may have of her without never really knwing her.
They're not going to release that kind of info if it was irrelevant to her death.
What people should really brace themselves for is hearing next to nothing besides cause of death being some form of manslaughter or some degree of murder.
>they're not going to release that kind of info if it was irrelevant to her death.
I think you are right. at least not now. If there is a trial it might come out becausee it very much could be part of a defense.
Some defensive moves on her part could have left important dna that could link him… under the nails for instance, could show his dna, and since she hadn’t showered it could link him to violent crimes right
Let me be brians defense attorny for a min.
Of course his dna or bits of skin was under her nails. Here look at this vid from moab and not the mark on his eye and her saying she was hitting him. She hit him in the past so maybe she did the day she died. It doesnt meean he killed her or that it wassnt in self defence.
i dont know just picturing how it would go down a trial
His DNA generally on her won't help because obviously they were together, but putting together some specific causes of death and no other DNA on her could point pretty strongly to BL. Also if they found a weapon, but that's not clear
If she had a huge amount of his skin under her fingernails that could certainly help.
Meh there’s no drug she could do that would make me think she should have been murdered
Not at all what was getting at.
some have painted theemselfs an image of a person they didnt know and that image prolly doesnt include use of some kinds of drugs. It might sting for some.
Why even go there though? It hasn’t been stated yet and may never be the case. Let’s be respectful enough of the deceased not to make unfounded, disparaging guesses. Her grieving friends and family could be on here.
> Once the autopsy is released, BL gets his charges upped to manslaughter or murder, probably along with a couple of more related to fleeing.
He would be charged. They wouldn’t be upping his charge because he hadn’t been charge on that yet. He would also still have his credit card fraud charges.
> The FBI has been narrowing in on BL over the last few days quietly, and once the charges change, will get many more resources.
At least publicly I don’t think the FBI has looked anywhere else. Brian is their main objective and has been from the start.
> BL is snagged by the end of the week, anywhere but Florida.
Don’t hold your breath
I hate to break it to you but this sub isn’t going to find Brian. The activity of this sub has no correlation to his chances of being caught.
The activity in this sub is related to the activity in this case.
Later on today there will be news. Probably see an uptick in the activity. But otherwise the biggest buzz this sub has has in the last week was directed at the sub itself.
Yesterday? The laundry baskets on the Laundrie lawn! Oh and the lawn hasn’t been cut.
The long weekend didn’t help. Slow news, resources less available etc. but there’s no doubt it’s waning.
Even still at the beginning there was so much activity that there would be multiple daily threads. Now there’s one maybe 2 and doesn’t do a whole lot.
Even with the info that will come out today. (Which I doubt will be a lot in all honesty) the activity in the sun isn’t going to hit anywhere near it’s peak.
Either way this sub is not likely to find Brian or impact this case in any significant way.
Most of the news in the past few weeks has been manufactured by the media to keep their 24 hour news cycle a buzz. Primarily by the journalists who are tasked to cover it.
I think we're saying the same thing. There not multiple threads because there's nothing to post. You'd get 3-5 posts very 4-5 hours. Now, its rehashing the same information. I've spent more time being active recently talking with people about micro details or moreso, engaged in dialogue trying to clear up misinformation.
That will probably happen later today but wind down quicker if nothing comes of major significance from it.
And I'm still here in anyway, checking in...
Mostly true IMO except that social media discussion does increase the number of people who become aware of his face which increases the likelihood of spotting him IRL.
Honestly I don’t think that’s happening anymore either. Info on the case has slowed down. So has involvement of many members in this sub. There isn’t an influx of people coming here and the ones that are likely already know about the case.
Yeah I guess you’re right. 😔
That’s called delusion.
This sub isn’t going to do anything together or separate. Doesn’t matter what eagerly this sub has. All this sub is good for is getting the most recent info ( of which now there is little to none) and talking to other people who are interested in this case.
Best case scenario is people learn along the way. Worst case this sub pulls a we did Reddit.(which is the direction you’re heading)
Because it’s an active investigation?
They think he’s in the reserve because that is there only lead. The cops look where the cops have a lead.
And the general public actually has no right to the intel of the case doesn’t matter how many people are interested and they wouldn’t give that intel out because there isn’t anything the public can do with it.
All the public can do is look out for him and call the cops if they see him.
Bro it's 3am--6am in the U.S.
