I'm definitely not here for the memes. For a bunch of people who are supposed to be masters of them... well, I don't want to hurt any feelings, but... oh, never mind.
I'm mostly here because there just aren't many of us out in the wild, and it's fun to see my weird personality reflected in other people. There's also something comforting in seeing the trials and tribulations of people who are as young as I once was; it makes me feel like maybe I wasn't screwed up as much as I thought.
Also, social interaction without leaving home and being among people? Hell yeah, sign me up.
To talk to people.
But mostly to slack off from boring work.
To get a dose of sanity from this insane world.
The world isn't insane. It's the people that are the problem.
Yes. "The World" is supposed to mean them.
what's the difference between people and the world?
World can exist without people. But people cannot exist without a world (unless you're from Wall E's planet. But even in that movie, they longed for a world, aka a physical planet)
Unless of course this entire plane of existence is dependent on high level consciousness in order to exist. Then you actually can’t have a world without people.
How big would a space ship have to be before its considered a world? What about a really small planet? Or a moon?
That's no moon... That's a space station.
I'm here to meet like minded people. That can include any content. I don't know it just feels nice to feel like you belong somewhere.
Procrastinating mostly, this time i supposed to have my civil exam in 2 and half hours.
All the Best !
how did it go
Not sure, i think i bombed it, but i ranked quite high for my area, gotta wait for the national ranking tho.
As an INTP, I like analyzing everybody’s personalities here and comparing them to mine
I’m lonely and looking for any type of connection even fake internet ones
I’m here for all the relatable content
To read while I'm at the bathroom
I read ur comment in the bathroom
to think i'm not so different from the others :(
I’m here to feel that I’m normal.
I’m here because you’re here.
Cuz for every universally relatable meme that gets posted here as if it's a uniquely INTP thing, there's the odd post where it's so specifically relatable that I'm like WTF
I guess to feel normal for a change. To meet like minded people. To learn from integrated intps. To blame my faults on my personality instead of fixing them
Joined to confirm if I finally found my people.
Stayed because I did in fact find my people.
dont order me.
this grp is forming around the way of thinking, rather than a specific topic, which i like.
Kindred spirits 😌
Here cos im bored ig, doesnt need to be much deeper than that right?
bc im intp n i saw a subreddit 4 sum i particip8 in
da fuck does that mean?
I just like it here.
To see how other people like me think i guess
Because there were interesting INTP communities in the past which were full of discussions about theories and ideas and I thought the same would happen here
Once the INTPopen died on Yahoo Groups, interesting INTP communities full of discussions and theories about ideas never really came back. The internet of 2021 is not the internet of the early 2000s.
It would be interesting to find out why. There were successful forums, IRC channels, yahoo groups etc.
So, what's the major factor? The medium? Other ways for contacting similar people? Difference in schooling? Too many normo's and commercialisation infesting the internet? Too much stimuli compared to before?
Barrier to entry. 22 years ago the barrier to entry was high. You had to have a computer, a dial up connection, take the time to find, sign up for, and join to post. Also, generation X was cool as hell. Morons, idiots, jerks, rednecks, feebs, turds - none of them had interest or ability to fuck things up for us.
As someone who has been here through it all, I can tell you exactly the progression - it started with Wikipedia, followed by the rise of social media. Wikipedia and social media has destroyed what we had from about 1998-2004.
Now any shitstain with a phone can shit up the internet willy nilly. And some percentage of millennials are fucking narcissistic and ideological disasters. Let's also not forget almost no one under the age of 35 even knows how to communicate like an adult.
That's a lot of cynicism...
Is that why you are here, to release those types of thoughts on to the world?
Facts are neither cynical nor optimistic. Someone who grew up with the internet would have no idea how much things have changed in both the internet and the world at large with the lowering barrier to entry and the rise of social media in the past 15 years.
Not necessarily, analysing stuff, unveiling the truth of things, uncomfortable or not *is* what INTPs are suppose to do and like.
Right or wrong, he is being a "good" INTP.
Define a "good" INTP.
I would say, one that searches for truth (scientific or other) using logic. It is sufficiently broad, but the search for truth should usually be above other concerns, for example if it is an uncomfortable truth.
Right. I go with right.
To see how other Intp's think
I'm bored and lonely
Because despite the toxicity of Reddit, the INTP group on quora it's somehow more toxic. Sometimes I like to share my general insight into things and don't worry about if people like it or not because I just post it and forget the next day. And sometimes seeing what other itp's have to say is interesting. If I'm going to be on the internet 24/7, might as well diversify my time between YouTube for entertainment, YouTube for learning, computer games, D & D on the weekends, other video games, talking with friends, and using the internet for learning or work.
This is why I miss the old INTP groups from the late 90s/early 2000s. "Internet Toxicity" didn't really exist yet because the bar to entry was high, so morons, idiots, and feebs would have to jump through multiple hoops to get on the internet, let alone join and post to a forum. Making the internet accessible to everyone is what ruined the internet.
I ask you back, why are you here?
Because I'm here. Roll the bones.
Just to roam around when nights get boring and i can't sleep, i also feel like i can say anything without *someone* i know irl sees it
Who is your young padawan?
Because I'm not somewhere else.
I'm here because places like this is one of the few places where I can actually identify with people.
Also the memes.
I'm here coz it's relatable
I'm here because mbti can be really fun. People are hilarious.
Because it's interesting
I don't need more
Everything here i can relate to, everyone here understand me without any further clarification
I'm here to relate, learn, grow and help others. Memes can be quite fun but also get repetitive at times
Because I took the (official) MBTI test and class at work, got INTP, and I guess I'm just seeking insight but it's also nice to relate to a lot of the posts here. Memes are a plus.
I wanted to see if I relate to some things here.
Very comforting knowing your not the last of a dying breed.
Stress free interaction where I can pick and choose conversations I will interact with.
I'm just here fir the relatable content
Im on reddit in general for information. I joined this sub initially to find out more about INTPs, but ended up staying because of how much I identify with others.
You mean on Earth?
I came here to investigate, so to speak.
im curious about my own kind and find enjoyment observing
Well, I fell like staying among other INTPs help me become a better INTP!
I'm currently in the character creation phase of my novel. I'm looking to obtain a more complete picture of how INTP interact with others. We are illusive, mysterious creatures with a simple spartan surface nature. I want to understand more deeply, the thoughts and motivations that would drive my character.
I seriously hope your INTP character is under age 22, because INTPs over 35 are completely and utterly different than what you find here.
I know this all to well, being nearly 40 myself. As with any information gathered from the internet regarding social sciences. I take it with an appropriate dose of skepticism. Although, I have run across a few people, whom have been helpful with sharing credible sources for information.
Also, my purpose of using MBTI typology to temper my character creation process. Is not in an attempt to make the character exactly, 'accurate.' But relatable, which would be more dependent on self-perception and crowd consensus than actual facts. People relate more to characters that are a super-ego version of themselves. The heroes and villeins at the top of their game. As opposed to the hard truths about their short-comings. My goal is not to pander to our inflated self-image, but to show relatable, likeable characters struggling with their shadows, and becoming the person they wish to be. While maintaining some level of accuracy in order to give a sense of congruity and harmony to the characters.
It's my guess that when we notice something off about a character, it's because the writer make a series of decisions outside of the character's nature. In an attempt to satisfy an inconsistency or weakness in their plot.
Should I be somewhere else?
Doing the dishes?
To get a bit of perspective on differences and similarities with this type. The entj sub is also interesting because it's like a constant reminder of my blindspots.
Looking for relatability (not always there huh), but mostly because reddit keeps sending me notifications for INTP stuff.
P is for proscrarination
Occasionally to advise.
People are interesting, I like studying them.
This sub slightly restores both my sense of sanity and my faith in humanity.
I'll be honest, I am here mainly for the memes but there are a lot of genuinely interesting discussions on here as well.
Figuring out if I really am one or an INFP. I'll admit, it's not helping... Both subs are full of wannabe trolls... This is becoming the INTJ sub 2.0
So take the goddamn MBTI and stop playing the "what am I?" game.
Wtf is wrong with you?
Just giving you a friendly solution to your problem. Your response tells me INFP though.
That's not friendly or a solution... I'm genuinly trying to understand the difference between Ti and Fi dom, I KNOW the difference but cannot tell what I personally use more. Being in the subs and observing people of those types, how they deal with stuff using their functions would be really helpful but if the subs are full of mistyped edgy trolls... It's not really doable.
And no I actually sound more like an NT than you do right now, I actually calmly explain my issue, that I want to be sure before mistyping myself again. You're the one getting butthurt when I said something negative about this sub. You could also take a step back and realize I said the truth or Idk... Not take it personally if you're not a troll yourself?
Huh. Ok. And you don't take the MBTI because....?
I don't take the MBTI? You're really being a troll right now aren't you...
Why haven't you taken the MBTI? You said you are "trying to figure out your type", so why don't you just take the MBTI? That would be the most logical strategy. Is there a language barrier here or something?
