Britt Reid's felony DWI trial set to start April 18

Britt Reid's felony DWI trial set to start April 18

So far he’s just received a slap on the wrist due to the fault of the legal system. Here’s hoping he gets some significant jail time.

BigPeeOn

Possibly controversial opinion: A slap on the wrist by this point is appropriate from the justice system. You're innocent until proven guilty, so as far as the justice system is concerned he's an innocent man right now, no matter how overwhelming the evidence is against him. He should definitely be going to prison for a while after the trial, though. Anything short of that is a travesty. (Unless you mean a slap on the wrist from his 2007 shit. He got a prison sentence, but I don't know enough about any of it to say if it was light or fair.)

Section225

Yeah, that's what people forget. Everyone has the right to a trial. If anything, it's to ensure you're treated fairly and all procedural laws are followed and were followed by police, but also to ensure the proper crime is used...I might be obviously guilty of manslaughter, for instance, but I don't want to be charged with murder. So if he was released on his own recognizance or posted his bond, he has every right, legally speaking, to be out of prison now. People justifiably so want his head on a platter and for him to never see daylight again, but you don't just do that here, throw someone in jail amd forget about them without due process.

KawZRX

“Fair and speedy” trial. However I’d say those words are both ridiculously subjective. Especially to our court system.

1P221

You also forget the weight of public shame that is on him. The actual justice will come, but you better believe it's eating him up inside until then.

J_EDi

So sorry for his feelings…

1P221

Who said anyone feels sorry for him?

J_EDi

You said I should consider that he’s being “eaten up inside” as part of his punishment. Couldn’t give two shits that he feels bad. Dude still deserves as much jail time as possible.

I wouldn't say he's famous. He has money, but not like a ton. Position coaches make up to like 100k, but it's usually less than that.

bradasskg11

Really has absolutely nothing to do with it other than the fact that he can easily afford an attorney good enough to attempt at pleading down his charges. This process is developing no different than it would for any regular person who finds themselves in legal trouble.

Biggest_Cans

Helps what? Someone's ability to post bail before a trial? I guess... Not exactly the red carpet treatment though, that's just how this shit works.

jethead70

Fuck this dude

JaykerAyker

Oh golly, you're so incredibly righteous. I'm sure he had no regret until you you and everyone here who agreed with the comment let it be known to all of reddit: " fuck this dude" It sucks for everyone. Including this guy.

robertb9876

Britt your a dumbass. Hopefully they throw the book at him. I really hope this situation forces him to get his shit together.

thepersonimgoingtobe

This situation put such a dark cloud over the super bowl. What a fuck-up. I feel bad for Andy.

Max_W_

I feel bad for that girl and her family.

thepersonimgoingtobe

Of course.

Jombafomb

Fuck Britt Reid drunk driving piece of shit. Also fuck every fan over at R/nfl that constantly tries to bring this up as some kind of indictment of our team. Specifically the Patriots fan who said the team is responsible for this, but when asked if that’s true aren’t the pats responsible for Arron Hernandez said “at least AH didn’t kill a child!”

VaggPounder

I still can't understand when some people in here get triggered when I say "Cheatriots" instead of using their real name --- I've dealt with Cheatriot fans for a long time and they are the worst of the worst --- subhuman dreck! Don't show them or Eagles fans any dignity or respect at all --- you'll live to regret it.

Biggest_Cans

This is the reason I think we lost, as callous as that sounds. And we may see a rough patch of coaching from Reid until it's over, which could be a long while from now. Let's just hope that justice is done and that we can all move on, especially Andy.

DrawnbyHigHeisler

this absolutely killed the mojo going into that game.

Jombafomb

I remember thinking there’s no way we could win now. The deck was already stacked against us with the O-line being garbage but when tgat news broke all I could think was “do we even deserve to win?” I know that came from an emotional place and I’ve since become more rational about the situation but still.

DrawnbyHigHeisler

Fuck Britt Reid. He helped us lose that Super Bowl.

campmaybuyer

Damn straight. Will always believe his actions were the #1 reason the Chiefs lost the Super Bowl. Seriously doubt Andy could concentrate on much else after that happening. Certainly a morale killer throughout the entire organization just days before they needed to perform their best. An innocent child is going to suffer a long hard road during their lifetime to recovery. Fuck him!

Jombafomb

I think Andy will be ok. My brother and grandmother died in the same year and my mom said that focusing on work was the only thing that helped her get through it.

Wonderful_Slide_5756

This dude doing time

VivecWasAnInsideJob

That poor girl and her family. What a horrendous thing to happen to them out of someone else's selfishness. On a lesser level, I also feel for Big Red. Addiction destroyed one kid and its destroying another.

Jombafomb

I was glad to read that Ariel is doing better. If you look at her mom’s Facebook page she’s a huge football fan and was a huge chiefs fan before this.

VaggPounder

I donated $50 to her GoFundMe --- I know it's not a lot but I thought anything I could give would help

If you plead guilty, you can’t appeal. Always plead Not Guilty.

kat_fud

You plead not guilty and hope the DA offers you a deal.
