I don't know the MID cards well and opened a pack. Seems awfully vanilla for a rare.

I don't know the MID cards well and opened a pack. Seems awfully vanilla for a rare.

Color shifted hurloon minotaur? Sign me up!

No minotaur creature type, though. Unplayable.

They had no choice. No minotaurs on innistrad.

No minotaurs?! This place sucks! More like shittistrad.

Innistrad? More like Innisnotrad.

Here's an actual vanilla rare: [[Vizzerdrix]]

You don't cast this for the creature, you cast it to read the flavor text.

Well, maybe some people cast it because their 7ED foil is pushing $200 🤪

Had one when I was like 6 or 7, traded it for a foil Gengar from Fossil Edition. Not my best decision.

Also useful for bunny tribal.

well, it is a beast in blue, that's pretty rare the very first magic product I bought had this and [[Trained Orgg]]. Unfortunately even then no one wanted to trade them for [[Goblin Lackey]].

I swear as I kid that was one of the few rares I had (my older brother gave it to me, he he) and I thought it was powerful AF, I mean, it was a 6/6!!!

[Trained Orgg](https://c1.scryfall.com/file/scryfall-cards/normal/front/1/4/14a83031-8b57-41d2-b586-bb4dcf16136a.jpg?1562233268) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Trained%20Orgg) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/7ed/224/trained-orgg?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/14a83031-8b57-41d2-b586-bb4dcf16136a?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) [Goblin Lackey](https://c1.scryfall.com/file/scryfall-cards/normal/front/3/0/30104836-1e9d-4533-98f8-d5c4e6484b52.jpg?1562904811) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Goblin%20Lackey) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/vma/167/goblin-lackey?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/30104836-1e9d-4533-98f8-d5c4e6484b52?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call

Haha I have some of these somewhere. It wasn’t the only one in that set either. It came in the 9th started pack as well. Total junk rare.

As a kid I absolutely traded other rares for my full playset of Vizzerdrix. I'm not sure what I traded away, but there is no universe where I got a good deal. It's one of the things I look back on from my childhood gaming and question fairly regularly. The others being the fate of my OG dual land (I know I had one, I know I traded it, but I have no idea what for, and again, it was not worth it... I just pray it was not a Vizzerdrix), and the foil Charizard that is gouged up beyond belief due to being traded around the playground, each time people "testing" it was real by scratching it with a penny. Kids are fucking dumb.

I collect them, and I can tell you that I would pay 80 bucks cash for a foil Russian one. Could never find one sadly.

This is the first rare I got when getting started with MTG. And it's 7th edition.

This was also printed in 8th edition. That's when I got started and I've got like 3 of the fuckers.

[Vizzerdrix](https://c1.scryfall.com/file/scryfall-cards/normal/front/9/a/9a82ffff-e02a-4ecb-a92d-8ed571beac46.jpg?1562739088) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Vizzerdrix) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/9ed/S7/vizzerdrix?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/9a82ffff-e02a-4ecb-a92d-8ed571beac46?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call

I love that since all the text is italicized, they write a word normally to show emphasis.

Isamuru needs a reprint.

At least six of those are actually playable.

Best of the lot is probably Wooly Thoctar but yeah a few of them have been tournament playable in the past

Heh, I thought of [[Infinity Elemental]] myself...

[Infinity Elemental](https://c1.scryfall.com/file/scryfall-cards/normal/front/f/9/f9330f67-0f79-4374-804c-5ca30841b8bb.jpg?1612394295) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Infinity%20Elemental) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/und/54/infinity-elemental?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/f9330f67-0f79-4374-804c-5ca30841b8bb?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call

It's actually a bomb in limited, since it can block 2/2 decayed zombies all day long.

I wouldn't risk a bladebrand or midnight ambush with this card. It's such a bomb.

Trade a 2/3 for their hard-earned token and a card? Take those deals all day!

> hard-earned token Decayed zombies? Those things are basically free. They're everywhere.

Not when the token is going to die at the end of combat anyway.

Never block with this card unless you have to

I blocked cause I had two in play.

Never block with this creature unless you have two*

It was a fun 3-0 draft. UG slamming those and my 16 other creatures. Every turn was a blizzard of value.

First people complained that the previous sets were too strong, now they're complaining about the power down not being strong enough. Smh.

Its as if people forgot about what happened last time they powered down mtg. *looks sadly at Kamigawa*

Still my favorite set by far - nothing goes over kamigawa spirit jank

I love kamigawa! 5 color zubera/honden decks were crazy good!

Kamigawa didn't have to be so got dang weak tho, it was surrounded by wayu better sets which were also more interesting in its mechanics.

Are we forgetting Sensei's Divining Top and Umezawa's Jitte? The latter was banned shortly after release and the first was in all top 8 decks until the eventually banned it as well. - So sad. Loved those two cards... The jitte even came in the rat deck you could buy so it sold out as soon as it hit shelves. The card alone was worth more than what you paid msrp for that deck.

2 very powerful cards doesn't discount the fact that the entire Kamigawa block was one of the, if not THE weakest blocks in MTG.

This doesn't affect the power of the set at all, since it's too weak to make it in any format. All it does is water down the utility of boosters

here you go: > /s

And all *night* long too !

Yeah should’ve been 3/3

Imagine being the guy typing the card texts all day long, just to find out you're getting blamed by the people on Reddit for forgetting it *once*.

I think you're joking, but in case you aren't, that's not how the text appears or doesn't. If it was someone forgetting to add it, that card wouldn't have any text ever.

No, it has to be typed every time.

You mean drawn, right? There is some one quickly drawning the cards as you open packs

With an Etch A Sketch, no less

there are 20 tiny gnomes with paintbrushes inside MTGA's client the reason that mobile has performance issues is because the gnomes don't have enough space the gnomes decided to strike when you opened that pack, cuz they are being enslaved free the gnomes

That explains the lag, if someone is opening a load of packs that's like half the games gnomes out of commission

yeah, not to mention the shuffler is also a bunch of gnomes shuffling your deck, if they hate you, they'll give u a bad hand and dont get me started on the matchmaking

It actually does have real text. It's just not showing. [[Augur of Autumn]]

Holy shit thats a good card

That's a great card. Played it in two drafts with selesnya coven, kinda aggro with focus on cheap creatures. When this thing comes on the board and you have coven, it is the star of the deck. Suddenly you pump your board full of creatures and you grow too fast for the opponent to keep up. It's a bomb.

Even if you don't have Coven it makes mana flood go by twice as fast. It's good

[Augur of Autumn](https://c1.scryfall.com/file/scryfall-cards/normal/front/8/b/8b53f6f5-f31b-4b0f-9b04-a72a96101223.jpg?1632162118) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Augur%20of%20Autumn) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/pmid/168p/augur-of-autumn?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/8b53f6f5-f31b-4b0f-9b04-a72a96101223?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call

Seems like it should have been a legendary, since all the abilities are only useful on one card at a time anyway.

I would assume that in testing they didnt like that when you have another auger on the top of your deck you can play it but legend rule kicks in right away . Makes less frustrating to draw a second copy on the top of your deck without legendary.

That is a good point, I didn't think of that.

Commander RC probably stopped them

Oh shit, good call there. Could you imagine being guaranteed this thing as a three drop?

Still very OP... just need to use [[Azusa, Lost but Seeking]], [[Khalni Garden]], and one of the *many* creature tutors in green (and Regrowths to bring it back) to replicate the [[Vivien, Monsters' Advocate]] + [[Oracle of Mul Daya]] combo !

Pretty good. Especially with [[Ranger Class]]. Just play the top of the deck whether you have a hand or not.

Why do you need to spend all the mana leveling up Ranger Class? This card gets you creatures off the top too if you have Coven.

They probably misread it just like I did lol. Calling creatures "spells" is weird (I get that you are summoning it but still)

I opened a bunch of them so maybe I'll try to make a deck around it. Ideas for what else?

it fits into the current meta agro mono green deck really well

I was thinking it'd be better with druid class. You can play as many lands as show up on top of your deck

Well, just one more, which is going to be enough most turns I guess ?

Why on earth is this comment near the bottom? I just fucking hate that 90% of comments on reddit have to be meme bullshit.

Because the post itself is a meme.

Honestly I fear we're getting to the point where visual-only bugs may *never* be fixed. Small indie company...

Oh for fucks sake, even multi-National conglomerates have a fucking backlog and priority list. Surprised they don’t ask you to prioritize it for them are we?

Surely with that attitude we'll progress as a society and species...

Why do you feel the need to be a white knight for WOTC? You're certainly never going to get any thanks for it. It's easier to just let people express their frustrations at the company like "WOTC bad" than to try and have a logical conversation about it. I know when I get frustrated all I want to say is "WOTC bad" and just have a bunch of my friends nod at me and say "WOTC bad" back.

Yeah Edgeman you're right tell him how it is!

They also have a responsibility to deliver a working product. If their backlog, if any fucking thing they do causes them to be unable to do that, they they shouldn't do those other things.

Oh no, there’s a visual bug when I open a pack. Literally unplayable!

If it was one bug, it would be a funny post. Because it's becoming a pattern where the game *does become literally unplayable*, he's expressing a sincere concern that WotC has chosen to not invest sufficient resources into Arena and a certain amount of bugginess above what most studios would tolerate is probably going to be with us forever.

Yeah I get it. Bugs are frustrating. I suspect you may be in the software world, as am I. What we see here is software being cranked out in a waterfall fashion. They have a fixed window to get everything done(enough) for the fixed dates, which as we know, is not ideal in software. The solution is obviously put enough resources to have more than enough horsepower to get it done on time. This is obviously not happening, however, I just get sick of seeing all these whiny posts about stupid things. Sure, it’s not perfect. I rarely, and I mean rarely, encounter bugs when I’m playing, like maybe 2 bugs I’ve encountered since launch. I don’t know if it’s a system resource problem these folks have or what, but my experience is far different than these posts hence why I snark back. It’s mostly people that don’t have a clue about software whining when they should e marveling in the achievement of this game honestly.

They're not blaming the individual developers, they're blaming the company. It's true that the developers don't have the resources to fix the bugs. But that is the company's fault, because Hasbro/WOTC *could* give them those resources. They simply choose not to, because they don't care.

It's really a magnitude thing. No one bug makes it a big deal. But there's just so many instances. This last update there were like 4 patches to fix the previous patch, some of which introduced new bugs, and tons of down time, we have visual bugs, we have cards that should be banned in format which they are playable, we have some cards that are just broken and don't function right, we had issues with how matchmaking chooses the same opponent over and over, we had UI issues with things that are unselectable, we had issues with 10 minute plus queue times... The list goes on and these are all issues just from a single patch. As a software engineer myself I can sympathize, like you said they have a hard deadline and clearly a lack of resource. People shouldn't be pointing their complaints at the programmers, but it's not unfair that they have complains. We have competitors that we can compare to. Hearthstone and Legends of Runtera basically never have these types of bugs and the few times they did it was fixed in a day or two. You infrequently see posts complaining about bugs on those sub reddits because it's not a constant user facing trend like it is in MTGA. As you are in software, I don't see where you are coming from when you say we should be marveling at the achievement of this game. The game design is a marvel indeed, but I don't see how the client or the server stands out at all. It's functional, it works most the time, it has an abnormal amount of bugs for the industry, but it's not unplayable. It seems like an average achievement at best in my professional opinion. It's true that people just like to complain and it can get frustrating how frequent the posts that just want to whine are. But WoTC gives the community a lot of ammo and I don't think the complaints are unfounded.

Yeah I hear you. What I I “marvel at” if you will is connected with why we can’t really compare with other platforms like hearthstone. I don’t know how many cycles ahead the sets are, but the fact the digital team has to code all those interactions to keep up with paper is what impresses me. It’s so complex, and I don’t know how their code base is implemented, but the shear magnitude of continually updating interactions and dealing with the stack and all the permutations is insane to me. I find it commendable that the digital team gets the software working like they do in the timeframe. I guess I just choose to focus more on the positive rather than the negative.

True, I will give them that. The number of interactions between mechanics is huge in this game yet that's one thing that almost always works great. I do think the programmers do good work with what they have, complaints should definitely be directed at WoTC directly and never at the software team. I see why people feel the desire to complain but I also agree with you that it's not wrong to try to want to stay positive.

Not even flavor text, geez they're really getting lazy

And it sells for 36 bucks on cardboard? Smh wizards

They could have at least put “Totally lost” as the flavor text.

that's like, 5 points of p/t for 3 mana... incredible rate. And it can survive [[Justice Strike]]. But the real deal is the empty textbox... just put whatever you can fit in there

2/3 for 3 mana is seriously OP Look at [[Gray Ogre]]

What about the elf from last set? I forgot the name, but is 3 Mana, 3/3, 1 ward and you get to venture into dungeon every turn you cast a creature.

It was a sarcastic comment. 2/3 for 3 is a horrifically bad card.

Used to be pretty good for red though, lol...

Powercreep is real omg.

Right? This is a strictly better [[Oracle of Mul Daya]]

Situationally better. That first line on oracle does a lot of work.

Ah, yes. Extra lands. Here I was thinking it'd be a replacement for Oracle, and it's not. Still card advantage.

The point is that you're going to be "blocked" much less by a second land if using it in combination with something like [[Vivien, Monsters' Advocate]] or [[Ranger Class]].

Also, people be sleeping on that vengeful strangler. That card is awesome with the new Gisa or Tergrid. Or both.

This happens with every rare with too much text for that miniature display; you'll see it when you hover over it.

Yeah. That card should definitely have some text on it. LOL

Really like this card together with [[old gnawbone]] in brawl

The actual effect is as follow : "You may look at the top card of your library any time. You may play lands from the top of your library. Coven - As long as you control three or more crearures with different powers, you may cast creature spells from the top of your library." Seems to be a good card actually

I freakin love it in my simic ramp deck and all my monogreen brawl decks

There hasn't been a vanilla creature printed since Strixhaven. WotC only added three vanilla creatures to Standard all year. Magic sets just keep getting more complex.

Finally, someone is hearing out our complaints on the power level of green

Doesn't even have first strike!

That's just an error. This card's actual ability is to look at the top of your deck and play it if it's a land. Then if you have coven, you can also play creatures. MAJOR card advantage for green.
