I know Jackie may not have been the most beloved person for many of us in this sub, but please do remember that several people lost their lives and several families will be missing someone. Please keep comments respectful and appropriate.

KaysoNcheese

My music teacher from elementary school was her husband. Although I’m not a fan of her from a political standpoint; Mr. Swihart is such a great guy. Such a great guy I remember him from elementary school! I would never wish for him or his wife to go through this. I hope he’s taking the grief okay

Dry_Dimension_4707

Did he teach at Washington High School at one time by chance? That name is so familiar.

imcrowning

I agree, Mr. Swihart is a great music teacher.

gitsgrl

I hated her but would not have wished this on anyone. So sad for all involved.

admlshake

My feelings exactly. I wanted her out of office in some form shame, either through a massive defeat or some scandal. But man, I never would have wished for this.

shhlurkingforscience

Yeah my feelings too. Very sad. Sad for the young people killed as well.

AltruisticPrice8628

I was never a fan of her. I wanted her out of office, but not like this.

yodera1

Sums up my feelings.....

tomjoadsghost80

I guess we will never get that town hall in South Bend.

calalilllie

I think we have a better chance of her being at that town hall now then ever before.

MaroneyOnAWindyDay

Holy shit.

xenokilla

What the fuck

TheBirdBytheWindow

Holy shit. Zachary Potts caused the accident.

Fernao

""I've never wished a man dead, but I have read some obituaries with great pleasure." - Clarence Darrow

MysticalAroma

Please get help. Celebrating the deaths of your political opponents isn’t normal.

TheBirdBytheWindow

This needs pinned to the top.

Spiffster13

Last time I remember her coming to south bend was to join the anti choicers at the clinic in town. Unless it was a fundraiser or a red friendly event she would avoid us. I’m sorry but I Can’t force myself to be sad for someone who wanted so many of my friends and family to suffer.

SterilePlatypus

Where she claimed to be hit by a car after running in the street in front of it. Ding dong…

aint_no_scrub

Preach 👏👏👏 Thank you for putting this so succinctly. Treat others how you'd line to be treated. I will care about her passing only as much as she cared about women's reproductive rights, LGBTQ people, and minorities: not at all.

MagnusEsDomine

Just a note: "treat others how you'd like to be treated" is exactly the opposite of "they didn't treat me well, so I won't treat them well." It's meant to undermine this very reaction to those whom we do not like and asks to be better than them.

[deleted]

MagnusEsDomine

I'm confused how a maxim that says "treat people well irrespective of how they treat you" is selfish. Can you unpack that?

Conker1985

Fucking thank you. The "high-road" pearl clutching every time someone awful dies is just nauseating sometimes. She was a terrible person/politician who did nothing to benefit the lives of the people in her district.

thedrakeequator

Exactly, the tone would be different if she was killed in an act of violence. I would be the first person to condemn that.

I’ll say it. It was deserved. Karma beats thoughts and prayers.

Nobody in the US has ever died due to lack of healthcare.

My bad, I’m just very testy as of late… I mean (gestures around)

Minifig81

I didn't care for her politics or political views but I do wonder what caused this and feel sympathy for her family.

According-Ease

Lady crossed center line and hit them

BlakeSteak88

They were on SR 19 in Elkhart county when a car crossed the center line and hit them head on.

Kaizenno

Other driver probably on her phone. She had another crash at 19/119 at the roundabout in October based on her Facebook page.

WhatsAMaWhoosIt

I live in a Elkhart. The lady that hit them was my roommate’s mom’s former boss and she she had been pretty sick (cancer I think) for a while.

Kaizenno

Exhaustion could be a factor then, especially for long term illnesses.

[deleted]

BlakeSteak88

To my knowledge, neither… the story said the OTHER car crossed center and hit them.

SleepIsForChumps

She stood for fascism. I feel bad her poor staffers lost their lives so young. Hopefully, this means we will get a Dem back in that seat.

Adventurous_Menu_683

What is the process for replacing her office?

jasonbanicki

Has to be a special election per the constitution

thedrakeequator

Are you sure? I thought the governor appointed someone to act for the remainder of the term.

jasonbanicki

Yes it’s Article 1, Section 2, Clause 4 now the governor can just leave the seat empty since there are less then 6 months left in her term

thedrakeequator

Cool I understand.

roseknuckle1712

They were enablers and supporters of her garbage. Better to prune the tree early.

RadulphusNiger

I loathed her politics. But you sound like a wild-eyed Maoist.

TheBirdBytheWindow

My ex father in law stood right next to Walorski while she screamed at Elkhart County residents calling them sheeple due to mask mandates and vaccines. A week and a half later Covid took him. His grandkids stood graveside in mourning. He believed her. He voted for her every time. I called her office almost daily updating them on what they had done. After all, he was one of them! No warm response or encouraging words from her staff. In fact, the gal answering the phone dryly said "The Lord works in mysterious ways." when I called for the last time and said he'd succumbed to the illness. Not even a "Walorski sends condolences." She voted against him as a vet. He still voted for her. They gave no fucks. Don't ever judge the rest of us for our deep disdain and supreme appreciation for the karmic wheel. You have no idea how much suffering she has caused over the years.

powerandbulk

>\> "The Lord works in mysterious ways." > >The Lord's work yesterday wasn't much of a mystery. I think the messaging was very clear.

Solidlyaveragemother

I am so sorry for your loss. And while not as devastating this was a similar tone to my experiences with her.

TheBirdBytheWindow

I'm sorry you didn't have a good experience either.

RadulphusNiger

I'm so sorry for you and your father-in-law. What a despicable response from her office. Walorski was not only a terrible person. She was an utterly useless politician, who had mastered none of the skills usually needed to succeed politically, including basic concern for her voters. She only stayed in power because of gerrymandering. A rock with an R painted on it could be elected to her seat - and Walorski was not much better than that. Our goal should be to make the world a better place - better than Walorski, with her narrow, hateful worldview could ever imagine. I don't think we move a step closer to that goal by celebrating car crashes as a way to cull young Republicans. That's all.

beets4us

Fuck you! Emma was the most incredible friend to us. The person you would call on your worst of days that would drop anything for you. Smart, wicked sense of humor. Loved hard. Her family will no longer have her at the dinner table during holidays. She'll never have a family of her own. She won't see my kids grow up. Fuck you and your "pruning the tree".

roseknuckle1712

Lots of peoples lives will be fucked up and more people will die because of what she enabled. I’m sure nazi soldiers had great friend and family time too. America was happy to see them die. She reaped what she sowed.

roseknuckle1712

You do realize that the party they were very much a part of is trying to start a civil war, don't you? That they think a civil war where they get a chance to "win" is a desirable outcome. They are happy to disenfranchise woman and people of color everywhere just to light that fire. Hundreds of thousands of families and friends will be shattered a millions die due to these people, their choices and who they choose to align themselves with. My empathy is with the future.

thedrakeequator

0 chance of a dem, our district is gerrymandered to hell.

AmericaToPerth

Yet another vile hateful American.

SleepIsForChumps

Yet another fascism loving toad.

[deleted]

Wait so we’re going to feel sorry for staffers that worked for someone that’s hated among this sub (who I would think most of you would shame in the first place) THEN turn around and all but say “fuck Jackie Walorski” ?????? Am I missing some sort of delusion here?

[deleted]

Master_Beavis

I feel for the families of those killed. Jackie Walorski was not a good person, but good people will be adversely affected by her death and the other casualties of this accident. I am not looking forward to the political spin and inevitable conspiracy bullshit that will come out of this.

MasterClown

Wow….this is the last thing I expected to read today.

cheersfrom_

Don’t forget that Jackie Walorski was an evil woman. My heart goes out to the other two’s families.

AmericaToPerth

Such a heartless savage American.

She will never again hurt another veteran. There's nothing in that to be sad about.

nrb255

Claims to be pro life… fucking dies. Phony

Revolutionary-Cup-31

I guess she wasn't so pro-life after all.

whitewolfdogwalker

She was a nice person, very sad. I certainly did not agree with her most of the time, but she was respectful and you could tell she was trying to do the right thing, not a crook or a sleazy unethical person.

tokeyoh

I got hired by her when she first won ten years ago. Back then, I believed in her too. Until I got to witness the inner circle conversations and learned she was fake and power hungry.

scrabulousbethany

Pretending to be nice while ignoring constituents actual wishes and doing whatever isn’t really nice.

AwfulChief78

A very good person who stood by and fought for her beliefs. Very personable and kind. This is awful. RIP

AwfulChief78

My political beliefs border on ecoterrorist Robin Hood, btw

transkidsrock

Jackie was anti lgbtqpu+ and anti bipoc so I can’t say I am too broken up over this.
