Is there anything a good artist could do with this tattoo?

ADD A G IN THE FRONT
With an arrow towards the hand as well
You made me lol
Take it easy O.J.
ADD A C IN THE FRONT AND A S AT THE END!!!
Add a B in the front and turn the o into an a. Then you can correct all those dread pirates seeking true love.
Which we all know means “to bluff,” which means he was playing cards and he CHEATED
He probably owes you money or something
What? It's a word?
Watch the Princess Bride. Need movie reference.
Funny you should say that I was literally just talking to a friend about that movie yesterday
Why is this being downvoted?
Ten people vetoed my cloves idea...😒😔🤣🤣🤣
I thought it was funny! 👍🏻
C at the front and a rs at the end and then add a 4 leaf clover under :D
I said Brr! It’s cold in here! There must be some Clovers in the atmosphere!
O E O E O ice ice ice *break it down
And then make it a SpongeBob tattoo for gloveworld
Artists pull off some impressive cover ups so I'm sure it can be worked with. Wrist is such a small area and cover ups need to be larger than the original making this one tricky. Personally I'd take it as a sign that I should turn it into a sleeve. 😅 I'm pretty good at justifying in my own head why I should start a new tattoo; here's a perfect excuse to go all in!
Lol I have scars all up the arm and while I know some artists will tattoo over them, I doubt it would look good on me.
Will it be perfect? Nope. Is that necessarily a bad thing? Definitely not. Scars are reminders of our resilience and amazing ability to heal and end up stronger. I have some covered scars that turned out well. I have a crappy tattoo that I've grown fond of. There's something liberating about embracing your imperfections. I've never had an artist refuse to cover scars provided you have realistic expectations & understand the limitations. Best wishes on whatever you choose!
I have sh scars all over my entire arms that have a lot of texture. I have a sleeve and it covers them really well.
Depending on where you live you may find artists who specialize in scars, or are at least competent and experienced with scars. For example, in Boston there is a whole studio that specializes in mastectomy scar coverups for breast cancer survivors. It seems they also do other kinds of coverups for survivors of self-harm, accidents, and other traumas.
It’s definitely a growing area of expertise!
What’s your feeling on blackwork? You could start with a band that fades as it goes up your arm, or even fades into some cool geometric dot work, mandala…anything really
> I have scars all up the arm
look into medical tattooing, the artists use skin tone pigments to blend the scars and surrounding skin to make it look natural with no overt tattoo type work
Thanks but I have no interest in covering the scars.
I have scars and the tattoos over them look beautiful! You can just barely see the scars ❤
I’m glad 🙂 but I don’t want to cover my scars
Understandable! They are a part of who you are!
Some artists can do crazy things with scars. You don't have to be so worried about them
I’m not worried about the scars, and I don’t want anything done with them. I just want to clean up the tattoo or cover it if that’s not possible.
Yeah I read you saying that to other people after I already sent the comment. Well, I hope you can get something that satisfies you c:
Get it lightened with lazer then you can get any cover up !!
How much laser tattoo removal costs nowadays?
I’m getting mine in Sweden and here they’re around 30-60€ per session (though it could get cheaper or more expensive depending on the area). Usually u need between 3-5 sessions for a small tattoo and up to 12 for big ones. It also varies depending on the color of the tattoo (colored ones take longer to laser)
Get one thick band with a smaller thinner band underneath it
That’s actually an interesting idea…
If you don’t have a tattoo on the other wrist then you could get the “love” thinner on that one.
I have several tattoos that I got when I was younger. Im glad I kept them because they document on my skin the various phases of life that I have gone through. I'm old now and some of my most special tattoos look like shit now but I know the story and the time. I have a cross that I did myself when I was about 10. It looks like shit but it's part of who I am. I recommend keeping as many of your tattoos that you can. They remind you of who used to be and who you are now. How you got there. Like a time capsule, they are an honest documentation of you to yourself. A note you send yourself from the past.
I like the concept but I feel like it looks shitty now. I had it touched up once which really just made it thicker and worse.
I like it but I’d be open to considering a cover up or really anything that makes it look not like it was done with a sharpie.
(don’t mind the scars)
Find a artist that specializes in cover ups
Just wanted to say I have almost the same exact tattoo, just in a different font.
Feel welcome to disagree with me here but I think this looks really nice. The age gives it charm. Covering it up would just leave you with a big ugly blotch on your wrist, in my opinion.
Good luck and I hope you feel better!
If you put "Love" in a delicate print on your other wrist, you would have love through thick or thin. With not wanting to cover your scars, a pair of reminders may appeal to you?
How do you feel about dove chocolate?
It’s not as good as their soap
Why? Do you not love it anymore?
I know, I know, I will show myself out.
I always appreciate the humor ;)
But I do love it actually! I just wish I could get it redone nice and delicate and not all chunky.
Have you considered complete removal and a new tattoo once it's healed?
I would think its hard when it's that bold, but im not sure, someone might have a creative idea that could help it out.
You could always have it removed and try again!
Yes a good artist who specializes in cover ups can do something with that
I would def just do a wrist band to blast over it. make sure you find a decent artist, they’re harder than they look.
The letters are pretty thick so they'd be hard to cover, but a good artist could work them into leaves and vines for a black and Grey floral piece or maybe something nautical
I would find out if laser removal would leave it as a white scar of the word love…might be cool? Anyone w experience in this?
I’m doing laser right now on a small piece of another tattoo so I can get it touched up, and it’s a much smaller area and lighter, and still it’s wicked expensive and hard to lighten. It doesn’t leave a white scar but I think it would be prohibitively expensive to laser it off because it’s so dark.
You could either do a set of bands or get a sleeve and just color pack in that area over the original tattoo.
Tattoo laser removal, I heard black ink comes out easier? Maybe remove it then cover up with something different. Heck or just remove and leave it. I can’t really see a good way of covering it without a big tattoo unless you do a band or blackout.
Just curious, but how old is this tattoo? Did it bleed right away or over time?
It’s about 13 years old. I got it touched up about three years after I got it but I think that actually made it worse because it made it thicker.
I know it’s blurry but if it were me I’d probably keep it as is
I had a word on my wrist that had blown out and was pretty indecipherable, so had another artist tattoo a crow over it. I’d search for someone who advertises that they do coverups because they’d have the creativity and familiarity from always doing it so they’d be able to see options when they looked at what you have to start with.
I just asked about a cover up for a tattoo I have that is also solid black. They recommend some tattoo removal sessions first to help lighten the area. I found an awesome Groupon for a highly recommended place. Doing 3 sessions and going from there. If you want it reworked, that's easier. Covered I'd recommend lightening it up with laser removal.
Look up someone who specializes in cover up work, I have seen some real shite turned in beautiful art 🎨
You can totally turn it into a cool hippy style bright colored tiedye tat!... make it look trippy if you know what I meanv
I love this idea ❤️
Maybe add to it? Like a rose or something?
that’s hard dark ink it might be fucked you could do a bigger piece with the top being dark shading and the bottom being something else other than that not too many options
You can do a wristband with in a forest theme. On your "Love" will be a beginning with good black and from this black can grown trees. And in the future you can make a sleave from it. Trees will looks good even with scars. I know I have very similar scars my self
Galaxy sleeve !
Maybe a half sleeve with an tree line of a night sky with stars?
A good artist could probably cut your hand off
That’s a tough location. I g go ave some lines and color there, and it will always look a little worse than most other places. It’s just because of the location. Mostly. You could add a background, etc., but I think it looks great for where it is. Probably hurt like hell.
Add A in the front and RA in the back
Maybe some kind of celtic knot band?
You could do a black band over then get a blast over piece!!
You could do a solid black band with little negative stars or whatever.
Keep us posted. I have my wife's name and it was done in script about 40 years ago and I would like it covered and then redone elsewhere.
I could see some nice thick flowers like roses done over this trailing down maybe.
Maybe add watercolor? My wrist tattoo (the lettering), was applied poorly, so I had watercolor added. Hurt like a MO-FO, but outcome was good.
Ooooooh I’m liking this
Half sleeve cover up.
Whole arm blackout.
I think it could be reworked of you still like the original piece. Like I think the font looks very 80s so what if you put some cartoony hearts around and made it like an 80s album cover or what if you made it into Lovecraft and you could turn it into a cool arm piece with monsters and stuff. Obviously just some ideas but I thought it might be fun.
Well I have the very same situation, but different words. I’m using this thread to give myself some ideas, and some are pretty nice. I’m planning on doing a triskett in the middle (covering up O and V if it were your tattoo) and for L and E I’m looking for watercolor, it was really a great idea.
A good Dr with a laser could do wonders
No g No
Get "it's what makes a Subaru a Subaru"
Snake. Panther. Heart. Rose. Anything with a big center that can be black.
You could start using a big watch...
Yeah easy cover up multiple possibilities!
Maybe some sort of geometric design like a bracelet or arm wrap. I'm thinking something with the layout of a Polynesian traditional tattoo. The cover up part could be a darker or even a blacked out band.
Give it some…love🤷♂️
you could always try working with an artist who’s good at working with white ink. they might be able to add something to the design
That’s an interesting idea too! I’ll definitely add it to the possibilities.
Rose tatt using foliage to cover
GROOVE is in the heart
Just add an r at the end LOVER
Better yet make each letter stand for something or someone so you will have four words going up your arm.
Just an example
Dont you love it anymore hahahah
Several sessions of laser will open up your options by a lot. A good artist will work with you on how much lightening they will need to get it to a place they can do a good cover up piece.
Change the L to a D and express your love for Dove ice cream bars
I would add "your tattoo" and go on with my day
Add a 'G' at the beginning.
Lesson to learn, never tattoo yourself for someone, it’ll only be as if the person is still there, and that’s shit.
As to your problem, I’d say cover it and use it as a blank dark spot
I didn’t tattoo myself for anyone but myself…
It was sarcasm mate, I hope you’ll find a solution
Maybe have a partial blackout that turns into something as it goes up the arm like fire or trees. Maybe turn the prose into rocks and have an eagle on it. Orrrrrrr you could make it rocks that are under water to make it part of aquatic them.
I got the black writing on my left wrist removed in 3 sessions for 500$ us dollar!!!! But it was for professional reasons cause the words were pretty nasty.
I have a cover up on my leg that's looks amazing . He did a gray scale sugar skull over the top of writing and you can't even see it !!!!
Yeah torch it!!😂😂😂
Wow asshole much?
Cant fix stupid…
That’s too bad for you then
Why worry about it ? Looks good !
Try and somehow change it to evolve lol
I LOVE it
