I'm a huge fan of AdMech, but my father has shown more interest in AoS as he's not a big fan of guns and all that, so I looked at some cool kits... I absolutely love the Skaven Doomwheel and am planning to start a Skaven army.

Googs67

What drives you towards it so much?

Strict_Palpitation71

Big Fucking Wheel

Armando_Jones

DOOOOOOOOM

Googs67

I see no failed logic in this 😁😁

RandomTsar

Agreed I say Josh from MWG bring out his new synth wave rats and fell in love with the doom wheel!

Dem1c

Chaos lord in terminator armor. Great set lots of bits. Abaddon set just really cool and detailed..

Googs67

Completely agree with this 😁

Kingjester88

Personally I think Mortarion, Be'lakor, and Mozrog for recent kits. Old school kits has to be the Ultramarines Honour Guard squad.

Googs67

Interesting, why do you like these so much?

Kingjester88

Mortarion has a shitload of detail and it all looks great. Be'lakor is a powerful character in universe and deserves a huge ass, beautiful model. Mozrog(more so the Gigantic Sqighog) looks fucking gorgeous. I dont have my hands on the model but you can see the metal engine parts on the side INSIDE the mouth. The detail is sick. The Honour Guard is the first super detailed kit GW came out with after 3rd Edition iirc. The winged helmets, capes, and shield/honorifics are sooo flavorful.

Googs67

Very good reasons

laminatedbookodreams

Tyranid Warriors. There's just something about that kit (especially since the digital resculpt) that keeps me coming back. I have built and painted so many over the years, and will co tinue to do so. Now let's hope that this edition is the one where they're actually viable in game...

Googs67

Then people will be in trouble at your local

Azure_Leo

I built three from the deathstorm box and actually really enjoyed making them. The Carnifex was a nightmare in comparison.

laminatedbookodreams

The carnifex is a much older kit. The Tyranid release before Deathstorm they took the master of the 3rd edition era Tyranid Warriors kit, and digitally scanned it which allowed them to make things fit better. The pegs on the original kit legs were a massive pain. That also allowed them to add the extra options for Lashwhip and bosword and twin bonesword options, as well as the Tyranid Prime. I really wish they'd do this for the Carnifex kit, as visually there's nothing wrong with it, just needs to be made with the modern plastic casting technology

Azure_Leo

That would be a good idea. I actually really like the Carnifex lore and would like to build another as a full on screamer killer, all talons and bio plasma. But my experience with the kit as it is means I'll not be doing that until we get a refresh.

ShakinBacon24

Thorek Ironbrow on his Anvil of Doom is pretty kickass. Great centerpiece in my throng.

Googs67

What drew you to that kit?

ShakinBacon24

Big into the WHFB lore, have been since the late 90s, so the Anvil of Doom being this super powerful ancient relic that only a handful of rune lords can master appealed to me. For the model itself, it’s practically a diorama on its own, with applications on the tabletop too. I just love Thorek’s pose, really wailing on this rune in the middle of the battlefield

Googs67

Very nice!!!

fistfulloffacts

Oldhammer my favourite kit was the Black Coach. F*cking loved that thing.

Googs67

Great choice

InquisitorEngel

I see you didn’t try and assemble the metal one…

fistfulloffacts

Oh that's the one I had.

InquisitorEngel

Sadist

Boot_Bandss

The Mk III marines are pretty cool. Also love the space marine command box (Captain, Banner, Doc, Champion, 2x Vets). The MkIII look sexy and the helmet crest looks pretty cool, as does the pointing lightning claw. Great for command presence. The command box has a cool-looking Captain, banners are fun to paint because of all the space to fill, and the Doc, Vets, and Champion give room for some sick conversions and personalization according to your lore. How about you?

Googs67

Really solid reasons for the choices there. I'm rather simple, I really enjoy the land raider. Love the full design of the thing, I think it screams death and love how much you can make it your own

Boot_Bandss

That’s the thing about older kits. KISS, Keep It Simple, Stupid. No crazy things with them and you could do a lot with them because of how versatile they were.

Warpspeednyancat

EVERY ORK KITS YA GITZ!! ALSO EVERY KIT IZ AN ORK KIT HAR HAR HAR !!!

Googs67

10/10 orky resourcefulness

Warpspeednyancat

gotta loot dat

Archmagos-Helvik

Redemptor Dreadnought. It has a lot of options for posing and conversions.

Googs67

Seems legit

randomdudeyeye

I like the deathwing box with the 5 guys, in terminator armor... they are so epic and grimdark, really fitting the 40k universe. I really enjoy some nurgle kits, AoS/40k. So many options, tentacles and bubonic upgrades, with the gretchins giving the minis much personnalité. I would also pick the ork warboss, AoS, with the axe and the skull on his shoulder. It's a middle ground between a small mini and somzthing big... I also love some big kits, like the big undead...Nagash?... and many more. I also dislike some :D

Googs67

Nice one!! Some great kits there

randomdudeyeye

What about you :) ?

Googs67

I'm a bit simple, I really love the land raider 😁 I just think it screams death and really love the full design of the thing

Archon_Vrex

The Talos. 6 different head options, all weapons look hella awesome and at least the CC ones are super easy to exchange/magnetize. It also comes with enough extra bits for 5 Grotesques if you get a kit like Ogor Gluttons with it. And special mention has to go to my favorite model in this game: the Ravager. Extra bits for days but the model is just so gorgeous. Not that much fun to build though to be honest. I also like the 4th ed Ork kits that were (are) all completely interchangeable with each other. Makes kitbashing an absolute joy. (So classic Boyz, Burnaz/Lootaz, Warbikers). The Nob kit (I believe it came some time in 5th after I stopped playing until mid 8th) is also great but less compatible since the bodies are bigger due to being Nobz.

Googs67

These are great choices

ShadowseerEcho

Probably the humble kabalites, it is such a well designed kit that almost 10 years after it was released still looks way better than 99% of models we get now, specially the bland and uninspired primaris releases.

Googs67

Interesting, would you say you're more into the older kits then?

ShadowseerEcho

Not really, but I think the drukhari 2013 update still has the most beautiful models outside the HQ'S. About new models, the new lelith hesperax was extremely disappointing, looking a gorilla on steroids.

Impressive_Local8857

I don't know why but all the Bladeguard units from the Indomitus box set are my favorite.

CthulhuChild

Saintly relics, in our world, are usually a small token like a fingerbone or lock of hair. Space marines? Nah, fuck that, take the ENTIRE CORPSE, stick it on my combat shield, the FRONT of the combat shield, and wade into battle. Glorious. So 40k it hurts.

Googs67

Solid reasoning. I like it.

CthulhuChild

I really loved painting up my Knight Despoiler. Easy to assemble, inviting detail for painting, magnetizing was simple, and it's a big model full of character without being so particular to the lore that I can't make it "mine". Morty/Silent King have been fun: more detail, visually impressive, etc, but it didn't feel like "my" model in the same way.

Googs67

Yeah I get that. These seem like great reasons.

EthanW97

I love the new Kragnos model, but my favorite would have to be the Saurus Oldblood on Carnosaur.

Googs67

Because dinos go Rawr?

Lythronax82

The Imperial Knight. Huge and imposing mini, loads of details to paint and plenty of flat surfaces to try freehand, transfers or whatever you like. Which is also a key strength of the kit - the lore actively encourages you to personalise it, to create your own heraldry and make it your own. I fell in love with it back when grainy images were first leaked, pre-ordered one and I've never looked back! I've painted a load of other stuff since then, but I keep coming back to Knights! Oh, and the big flat base is just an invitation to go wild with building an elaborate mini-diorama to really give your towering war machine a sense of place, of belonging, in the setting.

Googs67

Fantastic supporting reasons. Makes me want to get one

InquisitorEngel

The base for my [Cerastus Lancer](https://imgur.com/VVSxdsU) cost almost as much as a Questoris Knight… My [other Knight ](https://i.imgur.com/5J2PplK.png)doesn’t have a simple base either. They’re so much fun!

SarcasticBassMonkey

I dig the S2D kits. Something about marauding barbarians takes me back to the days of Thrud the Barbarian in White Dwarf. Favorite kit so far? Sorcerer on manticore

Googs67

Yeah that's a great model

Ashmidai

So many to choose from. I will start with something I have from ye olden days and say Egrimm Von Horstmann on twin headed chaos dragon. It is an old metal model so it doesn't have all the super elaborate detail they do today, but as a teen it was an absolute joy to paint and it looked cool as hell. I also kit bashed an old Azazel with some daemon prince parts to look more like a Juzam Djinn from magic the gathering with the daemon bat wings. For the new stuff I could go on all day, but here are a few: 1. Daemon Prince of Khorne and Herald from Forgeworld. I love the way he came out even if he was a pain in the ass to build. 2. Night Lord Contekar Terminators from Forgeworld for 30k. The moment they posted pics of that squad I knew I had to have them. 3. The old gamesday Chaplain in Terminator armor. I like the new limited release one as well, but the older one with all the skulls down the parchment looks a bit better. 4. The Judiciar was another model that I saw and just said take my cash. I want now. I only paint at this time so all the above were based on how they looked and if I could realistically paint it well. If you want all time best kit out there it isn't gw imo. It's the necromancer dragon from creature caster. That behemoth is greatness.

Googs67

Yeah these are all great. Really like the fact you're taking it from a painting angle that's what I do at the moment too 😁

Dooooom74

I love my orks but my heart lies in fantasy side more. Hope to start a fyre slayer army. Because dwarves!!

Googs67

Yeah fyre slayers are great. Everything about them is very appealing

MushinYojinbo

Tau Commander. Great aesthetic and so much posability.

Googs67

Yeah agree with that

RandomTsar

I really like the deamon prince for the variety and possibilities if what you can turn it into!

Googs67

In your head "how dark can I go with this"

sodium_podium12345

Any Plague marines kit and the venerable dreadnaught kits are so much fun to put together and create a narrative with just detail

Googs67

Yeah I can see that. Great choices

sodium_podium12345

Thank you what are yours?

TheGodsarewatching

40k it would probably be sentinels dont really have a why I just like making those things. Age of sigmar is probably clan rats just cause it let's me use old paints that I don't have any other use for anymore on the clothing. And keeps it lore friendly as whatever scraps they could get together, though I still paint the majority of my skaven with a general color scheme.

Googs67

This seems good, I like that you've found good use for painst otherwise unused

Gaurdsman

Anything cadian really, though I have started a space marine squad as well

Googs67

Nice one, any reasons why?

Gaurdsman

Always been a fan of the Guard

PaintsLikeDoody

Daughters of khaine snek ladies

Googs67

Why?

PaintsLikeDoody

Oh sorry because painting the belly scales is quite fun. Was one of the first minis i did that i didn't hate. I believe the first post I made with this account was a daughter of khaine. Used gloss varnish and made them look slimey

Googs67

That's disgusting and I love it

Azure_Leo

I think for me its the humble tactical squad. There's just something very nostalgic about it for me. Specifically the very first of the modular kits that launched with third edition. The entire firstborn range essentially grew from that basis. Adding alternate legs and arms, then heavy weapons (first as metal upgrades, later the excellent plastic devastator sprue), customisation with chapter specific helmets, pauldrons and chest pieces.

No-Plane2980

I'd say deathwatch vets because of all of the bits that you get in it

Shenloanne

Of the ones I've bought and painted..... Daemon Prince.

throwawayegg9

Meganobs kit is my favourite
