I tried it with my cat.
He actually pushed away with his hind legs...
That cat’s name?
... a little. He just opened the f*cling door to get himself into the hallway ..
That moment when your house has been settling for 70 years so none of the doors latch easily so your cat just bulldozes them open as he pleases.
Source: story of my life.
The bathroom door in my house has trouble latching, my cat is strong and needy. It's not a good combination.
My people tell the same story.
We put a door up in our trailer hallway to cut on energy costs and our cat has made it his mission to discover what's behind door #1.
The rest of the house, buddy. The rest of the house.
But next time it might be different!
We know that. He hasn't gotten the memo lol or hasn't read it yet.
I did with our three cats, one of them pushed away with hind legs, the other used front legs, and the last one used his paws after his nose touched the wall.
pelope trusted you
I laughed so hard at all of these! 😂
With cats it is really hard to distinguish between unintelligent and just not giving a F.
Cos they’ll all plot their revenge anyway when it suits them - like 2am or when you’re not home…
Maybe Penelope just trusts her humans not to slam her face first into a wall for no reason?
I think you're right, but I still can't stop laughing at Penelope just passively letting herself get smushed into the wall.
"Human, i trust you with my life."
*And they became best friends*
But didn't she give the other two cats a much better opportunity to actually stop themselves? The other two cats had their paws out straighter, and she almost placed them paws-first because she was holding them closer under the armpits. Penelope had her arms down because she was being held differeht, and also was given far less time to react.
She literally rearranges the cats to place their paws on there. She pushes them up then lays their paws on there. Penelope she literally angled her face into the wall. I just watched it again.
I saw that, too. Penelope’s trust is definitely misplaced…
*earlier that day*
I don't care for Penelope
I love all my cats
I love all [not you] my cats
Penelope was not prepared for this betrayal.
Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal
Yes this is what I came to say!
It’s this. I tried this with my two cats. The trusting one didn’t stop himself, but the other one managed to get all four paws on the wall to stop him from hitting it.
I tried this with my two cats and I really think it's not so much an intelligence but a trust thing.
Neither kitty tried to fight the wall, they just let me gently smoosh them. Both acted like I betrayed them utterly. I give them kisses and hugs as apologies
[Squish that cat](https://youtu.be/5jKZ9KGtee0)
i watched that video for the first time a few years ago, and last year i had to give one of my cats ear drops and had to give the other one pills, both times i referenced that video and squished them, and it actually made it so much easier
What does squishing do? Calm them?
Yes, in my experience if a cat doesn't feel like it can get away it just gives up on life.
I wonder if it feels nice to be squished
I dunno I haven't been hugged in years
A legit game changer for me in terms of claw clipping
I don’t even know how to feel about what I just watched
JUST SQUISH THE CAT BRO
You should feel the need to squish that cat.
Naw... if they don’t they’re just really trusting.
Penelope is my spirit animal while I drive.
Just get an oovoo javer man.
Penelope has too much trust!
I love that the cats are all named like Dickensian urchins
either fancy names or food
like my cat, Mayonaise
I named my cat Reuben
Both a fancy name and a food. Bonus
my cat was named Concrete
I like inanimate object names. Like my boy, Shotgun
add penny to that, Shotgun Penny is a dank ass name for a cat lol
Um? Shouldn't that be "Dank-ass name?" Asking for a friend.
So like [Alphonse Winterbottom?](https://imgur.com/gallery/9iVQcQv)
I think this could be a vision issue too. I know my kitty doesn’t see things in front of her very well, unless they’re moving.
Exactly! I’m kinda disappointed I had to scroll down so far to see this comment. One of the ways vets like to assess vision impairments in cats (at least in my country) is picking them up and slowly moving them closer to a table top. The idea is if the cat reaches for the table surface with their front paws, they can see it. If not, they likely have a vision impairment and need further analysis.
Yes, came here hoping someone would point that out. Poor Penelope might just have awful eyesight. Cats can go blind and their owners not notice until they rearrange the furniture. The owners, not the cats.
Your cat has never tried to rearrange your furniture? Lucky.
That’s more the dog’s hobby
They've tried rearrange the shape of most 9f my glasses, but not the furniture
Penelope is trying okay?
Sigh. My wife tried with our…special boy
Lmao. I literally just watched that loop for a solid minute and a half laughing. Thanks!
What's wrong with your human
I give my cat a 5, took a few tries before he stopped himself
I tried 5 times and just gave up. My poor empty headed boy.
Now I'm laughing that people are picking up their cats and smushing them into walls.
We tried and all three of ours smushed their faces. I think it has more to do with trust than intelligence.
I’ve watched this 10 times and I still can’t get enough 😂😂😂
I have a Penelope too...
Penelope trusted you the most
My cats name is penelope and I suddenly feel offended on her behalf
I’m laughing so hard and thinking about which of my cats would also be Penelope
Ngl, I am totally doing this to my cats tonight. I suspect I have a Pip and a Penelope.
Too funny. I kinda want to try it too lol
Penelope's like a crash test dummy in slo-mo XD
She trusted you not to hurt her???
Ember is my name! :D
Were your parents Danny phantom fans?
No lol, I picked it myself bc I thought i liked it :)
Oh I see. Good choice!
It's actually about trust but sure, shove your cats face into a wall.
Did it work?
Hahahha poor Penelope
Penelope is like “I swear she’s gonna ram my face into the wall” 🥴🥰
Just tried it! She pushed away with all 4 legs....and growled after
Peen-alope. You are a yemnyst?
I've been completely unable to pronounce Penelope any other way since that damned movie came out.
[I understood that reference!](https://i.kym-cdn.com/entries/icons/facebook/000/017/204/CaptainAmerica1_zps8c295f96.jpg)
Very under-rated movie!
We’re all gonna dieeeee
Yu and Hank are fucking dead.
Are you threatening me? Cause if you are you little hairless lapdog …
Fucking praying mantis woman!
Can you give a link to the original TikTok I want to see more of these cats!!
I tried it with two of my three cats. One is just like Penelope...
What does it mean if your cat tears your ass up?
I've never related this hard to a cat before
Tested this with my cats. Leo got it pretty much right away and then got mad at me for trying this. Ginger didn’t really get it and wouldn’t straighten out her paws. At least she’s not as dumb as Penelope.
Bella = 9
Penelope is my favourite 😂🥰
Same Penelope same
This is less /r/WhatsWrongWithYourCat and more /r/WhatsWrongWithMyHuman
I needed this today, thank you!
Just tested this with my two cats. Can confirm that they are as smart as slugs eating salt.
It's funny because my cats name is Penelope.
That was funny. You should cross post to r/unexpected. I definitely didn’t see that coming.
I held my dog up to a wall and she squiggled around and put her back to the wall
I need to try it with Xander
I just tried this with my cats Tim Tams, squiggles and Oreo none of them pushed back
The last cat made me laugh way too loud for 1:00am lol
Just tried on my cat she is definitely a Penelope with a lot more perplexed look 😹
More like a test to see how much your cat does not trust you.
I had a not so smart cat. But she made up for it by being pretty 🥰
Did this with my cat he used the backs of his paws
M. is a 9/10, W. is a 3.5/10
My year old Maine coon already has trust issues. I fear losing an eye if I try this.
Um, no one is going to mention that the human held the first 2 cats in a way that their paws were straight in front of them, and when they held Penelope, she was hunched over so her paws weren’t straight in front of her?
