A demo of the COTRE CO01D a 20$ DMR Radio

Interesting article about the chip inside. https://jhart99.com/auctus-a6/
I (and some friends) picked these up. I had to make a programming cable from a USB uart I had as my ancient baofeng cable didn't work. The funny thing is the progmming software.... It's actually really good.
This thing is nice. Small. Lightweight. Feels solid and well built. Battery life is nice, charges from USB-c. I'm getting good audio reports from analog repeaters and have spent quote a bit of time on dmr. My own dashboard shows no packet loss or other issues and reports from others are great.
If it goes on sale again for $20 I'm going to buy 10 of them....
Yes. This is the blog I used to figure out how to program it.
Some really good work.
The chip inside is capable of 100 - 1000 mhz tx..
Where do i buy these? Only seem to be available from Amazon in the US not UK
Amazon currently has it for $39.99.
When I ordered it, it was selling for 20 USD.
The only place I could find is Amazon US. I guess that if this becomes more popular, it will be available in more than place.
Not bad for a $20 radio. Still sounds like mics from 2006 Call of Duty XD

Has anyone tested the private call confirm feature?
Hmm that voice sounds familiar
How so? Are you from VA2 land ?
Does anyone know how to program this radio I keep getting a “Communication Error” and stops at 2/100 when trying to read. I’m using a CH340 cable.
I only had success with an FTID cable myself.
