Hanyo no Yashahime: Ni no Shou - Episode 3 discussion

* Funny how they went out of their way to say Rin was over 18 when she had her kids * Interesting that Zero took the name of Otsuyu (from a tale of a youkai zombie woman and her living lover) long before Rin started dying * "If I let those half demons roam free disaster will befall my younger brother" yeah like thats the real reason * Interesting how Jaken's demon metality works around caring: * He grew to care for Rin after knowing her some time but since he hadn't gotten to know the twins he didn't care as much * To him it was probably logical since she could always create more children * He thought everything was alright as long as one of the children survived, much like a real reptile would with hatchlings * And yet he ultimately put more effort into raising the children than Sesshomaru ever did 🙄 * Why wouldn't Rin had had the chance to hold her kids yet? * So Riku wants to save Towa yet he is giving Zero the pearls knowing he wants to kill her; even for demon standards his mentality is pretty alien * Its confirmed he hopes Zero kills Sesshomaru which he revealed because as stated before by both interviews and Zero herself, Riku won't or maybe can't tell a lie * Meaning Riku genuinely didn't know Kirinmaru could see everything he did but he probably didn't found out about his actions because he was still fuzzy from waking up * Zero didn't deny she was powerful enough to kill Sesshomaru (who'd probably defend his daughters just as Riku plans) * So Ryon is trapped in the cave of a mountain that ressembles the womb of a woman (whose silhouette reminds me of Midoriko) * I guess the Kirinmaru fears it line all but confirms Ryon is a half demon * I'm thinking Ryon was born from Midoriko and Kirinmaru and after her death he used the spirit of the priestess inside the pearl to create Riku from the horn, whose future version Osamu gave him the prophecy of his and Toga's eventual deaths * Her dreams create spirits which in turn created the dream butterfly * "I cannot hide anything from you sister" having sister myself I can attest to that lol * Arbol ahuevao * "Those who are loved are destined to die beautifully", "those who are loved died in an instant", "those who are hated are meant to live for eternity" * This words reflect the series themes on love and hate and their consequence

> Funny how they went out of their way to say Rin was over 18 when she had her kids Nah, she was 18 the night of the fire. > Why wouldn't Rin had had the chance to hold her kids yet? Remember that we were shown Sesshomaru taking them away as soon as they were born, to protect them. Rin not meeting the girls at all after that is probably because of Sesshomaru's quality (/s) parenting.

lnombredelarosa

>Nah, she was 18 the night of the fire. We also know it wasn't too long after her giving birth since Kagome was preggers when the comet came >Remember that we were shown Sesshomaru taking them away as soon as they were born, to protect them. Rin not meeting the girls at all after that is probably because of Sesshomaru's quality (/s) parenting. True enough

AlexUltraviolet

Oh yeah, I forgot about Kagome, I thought the twins were a couple years older than Moroha.

lnombredelarosa

No its just that they have Sesshomaru's tall genes

tony_the_wanderer27

Quality explanation right there

CharizarXYZ

No. The twins and Moroha are all 14.

CharizarXYZ

He clearly said she was 18 when she had the twins. He didn't even mention the fire until later.

tenkensmile

> Funny how they went out of their way to say Rin was over 18 when she had her kids It's sad they needed to say that because some fans are being unreasonable about the age.

wrc-wolf

This show really perfectly captures the feeling of 90s anime even with a modern production, which can be taken to be both good and bad. But the people who never watched the og series, or only did as kids, are always really easy to spot in these threads because of it. Yeah, the plot meanders and the characters don't always act Extremely Analytical and Logical™ when making decisions. That's perfectly in line with the show's pacing and characterization. It's like complaining about rain being wet at this point. Either you like it and you're still here watching, or you're just here to spew about how much you dislike the show. ¯\\_(ツ)_/¯

Demolosse001

I am less than impressed by the writing in this series. They always seem to make things up as they go. After everything they had been through, why couldn't Seshomaru explain the situation to Inuyasha so they could come up with a countermeasure instead? Together they could have defeated Kirinmaru and sealed/imprisoned Zero until they found a cure to Rin's curse. But nope, better team up with Kirinmaru and Zero to corner Inuyasha and Kagome (just to "save them" at the last minute). By the way, are Miroku, Sango or Koga fine with what happened ? What is Seshomaru's genius plan now? He hardly does anything and is just wandering around mysteriously. Also everything about the rainbow jewels is just ridiculous, and seems to only exist in order to make a reference to the original series. So now we learn that Kirinmaru sees everything through Riku but somehow did nothing when the latter was helping Towa behind the scenes (and killing his subordinates). Ok...

GalaxyShinigami

I want to know how the heck did The Dog General have Tenseiga and Tesseiga when (Inuyasha manga/anime) stated those swords were created to protect his wife. He clearly has them hundreds of years before he even met her. And the rule for Tenseiga resurrecting someone within an hour. If that was true then Sesshomaru wouldn’t have been able to save Kanta’s dad who was dead for three days.

Leaves_Swype_Typos

>And the rule for Tenseiga resurrecting someone within an hour. If that was true then Sesshomaru wouldn’t have been able to save Kanta’s dad who was dead for three days. According to the wiki on Kanta, it's said in that episode that yokai can live a lot longer than humans with their head cut off. We've seen plenty of demons by now who've made it clear that demon/yokai souls can stick around a long time, sometimes indefinitely, after being 'killed'.

GalaxyShinigami

But Setsuna isn’t a human, she’s half-demon.

Leaves_Swype_Typos

>After everything they had been through, why couldn't Seshomaru explain the situation to Inuyasha so they could come up with a countermeasure instead? Together they could have defeated Kirinmaru and sealed/imprisoned Zero until they found a cure to Rin's curse. For one thing, I think it's likely *he did*, and that they knew this was what was going to happen, because why else would Kagome have basically said goodbye to Moroha the way she did. If he didn't, I think that's still well enough in line with his character. Could you really imagine Sesshomaru asking for Inuyasha's help to save Rin? He's protective of her and immensely prideful, so if he could do things his own way without needing to trust anyone else, it sounds like something he'd do. But also, what else could be done when Kirinmaru was intent on killing Inuyasha and Kagome? Fighting him is an option, but a more risky one than what Sesshomaru did, and almost certain to result in either Inuyasha/Kagome dying or Kirinmaru (and by extension Zero and Rin) dying. >What is Seshomaru's genius plan now? Weren't you paying attention? The blood blade he bestowed to Setsuna (which she's still working to master) is made to sever all things up to and including fate, and he seems keenly aware of that as though he'd either known her potential or done something to imbue it in her before. Perhaps years drawing power from that particular rainbow jewel influenced her ability. Few things seem to have been coincidence.

tenkensmile

> why couldn't Seshomaru explain the situation to Inuyasha so they could come up with a countermeasure instead? Failure of communication makes for plot convenience - happens in a lot of anime.

AlexUltraviolet

[oh hey I kinda called Riku being part of Kirinmaru](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/ltl1mu/hanyo_no_yashahime_episode_21_discussion/gp0msoe/) The flashbacks were dumb and Moroha buttering up the tree was the highlight of the episode.

hiddentheory

Moroha yet again saves this miserable anime.

Aerodynamic41

Are you kidding me?! So the reason Sesshomaru sealed away Inuyasha and Kagome was so they wouldn't go after Kirinmaru? Why not just explain the situation to them? They're not that unreasonable and more than willing to help. Oh yeah, he indirectly made Moroha's life miserable too because she grew up without her parents. Come on, they deserve better than this shitty writing! Also, is it just me or is the animation getting worse with each episode? I feel like Sunrise put more effort into even *Scarlet Nexus* than this.

AlexUltraviolet

Sesshomaru has also made no effort to tell Towa that finding the butterfly would be a bad thing.

LPercepts

Seems like par for the course, for Sesshoumaru, that is.

nnooaa_lev

The animation for ep 1 and 2 was great, but yeah seems like we getting into low budget episodes, next ep preview animation looks bad. The storyline just doesn't make sense

GalaxyShinigami

That’s one thing I won’t criticize, the animation looks a million times better than last season.

CharizarXYZ

The animation looks fine to me. I'm not sure what people are complaining about

random_edgelord

I think it's not out of character for sesshomaru to seal away inuyasha instead of talking to him.

hiverstone

>re you kidding me?! So the reason Sesshomaru sealed away Inuyasha and Kagome was so they wouldn't go after Kirinmaru? No, Kirinmaru and Zero were actively going after them. But he can't let Inuyasha and Kagome to fight back and kill them, because then Rin would die. Kirinmaru is around as strong as Toga and Zero has magic spells that none of them can undo, so it would be ridiculously hard for Inuyasha and Kagome to defend themselves while protecting Moroha without hurting Zero.

Aerodynamic41

>No, Kirinmaru and Zero were actively going after them They are after his daughters too but he's totally fine with that. He even lets Kirinmaru kick their asses in their last battle but letting them go after Inuyasha is too much? Bullshit!

CharizarXYZ

Rin dies if they kill Zero not Kirinmaru. If Kirinmaru dies nothing happens to Rin

Atario

Well, Zero more than Kirinmaru. And when has Sesshoumaru ever "lowered himself" to let anyone help him? Or even just talked things out? It's just take-silent-action-alone like 99% of the time with him.

unhampered_by_pants

Sango was going to kill Rin to save Miroku in The Final Act, it stands to reason that he wouldn't trust Inuyasha and Kagome to prioritize Rin's life if Moroha's safety was on the line

CharizarXYZ

So your just going to ignore that Zero and Kirinmaru want to commit genocide against half demon's. And that Inuyasha is a half demon that they were actively trying to kill too. What do you expect him to say to Inuyasha. "Hey, Inuyasha. My brother that I have been on good terms with and didn't repeatedly try to murder multiple times. Could you please let Zero murder you and your wife and daughter for the sake of my benefit.". And Inuyasha would definitely respond with. "Sure I'm definitely going to let Zero murder me and my family for your sake. My brother that I definitely have a good relationship with and don't hate."

helsaabiart

Finally, the backstory... but man, I don't think I can forgive Sesshoumaru for taking away Moroha's parents from her.

theangryeditor

This is some peak sesshomaru fangirl fixfic bullshit

InternalParadox

Yup! Rin was *18*! Totally legal! And Sesshomaru couldn’t do anything against Zero because Rin would die! And he couldn’t tell Inuyasha and Kagome about these conditions because he’s the strong, silent type! He had no other choice but to lock them up in a magic pearl and leave their daughter parent-less...

Hunter19877

For real. You cant just say that she was 18 and all of the sudden it's true. She wasn't. Period. Yes that's my. Biggest gripe. Asside from the fact that it seems like a bunch of children are writing the script. I mean, I'm watching it xbut it's definitely nothing exciting at all. Nothing like the original used to make me feel. This show is complete trash compared to Inuyasha.. Inuyasha forever has a place in my heart, this show is almost tarnishing that. I probably won't watch the rest of it.....

theangryeditor

Honestly it's probably best to drop it and bury it in the back of your mind. It's just bullshit after bullshit with this show

Atario

[Hm, that thread](https://i.imgur.com/xap00Ns.jpeg) looks eminently severable by some demon weapon which severs that which cannot be severed… [Oho~](#saikikek) [Damn, that's](https://i.imgur.com/gPQvh2m.jpeg) a [nice trick](https://i.imgur.com/3SUok9D.jpeg) [Well-versed in the human skill of buttering-up](https://i.imgur.com/0hhsK1P.jpeg) [More like Mt.
