Do you want roommates if you can't afford a one bedroom? What's a non-negotiable? Do you have the budget for a one bedroom?

What’s your budget?

going through a broker usually involves a fee equal to one month's rent. to avoid fees, search on craiglist and select the no-fee option. it's not as nice as the fancier websites, but is really does seem to be the most commonly used in this dang town. check out east Cambridge or Inman Square for a good bikeable options that might run slightly cheaper. Lower Allston could also work well for you!

Landlords have been pretty flexible with broker fees since the pandemic came to town. At one point, almost 75% of listings were being advertised as no broker fee or partial broker fee. That number has come down since most students have returned to Boston, but I'm still seeing over 600 [no fee Boston apartments](https://bostonpads.com/no-fee-apartments-boston/) available now, with dozens of apartments in Cambridge and Brookline.
