Cactus

BlueChequeredShirt

Overwatered.

moxie_girl1999

Curious why you say that? And how you can tell. Please educate me. Edit: corrected typo

otroguero

Ummm, that thing is fantastically healthy. I think that from a picture like this, mold or fungus would be your only clue. I mean, unless it was visibly rotting at the base, and this one isn't. Root rot looks dark purple usually as it comes up the stem

Apprehensive-Ad-5291

Thank you.

moxie_girl1999

Thanks so much!!

BlueChequeredShirt

You can have something overwatered but not rotting. It looks too fat, the ridges too indistinct and its visibly bulging in the middle. Lastly, as I've said in the other comment, garden centres often sell them this way to make them more attractive for sale. I'm not criticising OP.

BlueChequeredShirt

Look at the weird swelling in the middle, and the fact that the ridges are kind of...stretched out? I don't think it should be round. Other commenters seem to disagree, but I would withhold water for a long time if I had a cactus like that. They can burst and split. Also, cacti and succulents nearly always come in inappropriate medium. I'm not criticising OP, it's a fact if life that 90% of garden centres sell "plumped up" plants to make them more attractive for sale.

moneytreegrowsupply

Well said, thank you.

moxie_girl1999

Thanks so very much!!!
