ELI5: If butter is made from milk, then why is it so much more unhealthy than milk?
By - The_Thing_Behind_You
Butter is made just from the fat of the milk. It's like taking just the unhealthy part of milk and eating only that.
It does have a little bit of dairy stuff in it but is absolutely, predominately the fat.
Potential unhealthiness of butter is about the amount of saturated fat consumed as a part of one's overall diet. A little butter isn't unhealthy. Butter is very high in saturated fat, so becomes unhealthy when consumed in large amounts on a regular basis.
