He was a 40 point player for the first couple years of his contract? Has he fallen off that much or have things just not clicked the past two years?

preeeeemakov

He was known as inconsistent before he played an NHL game, and that never changed.

STG_Resnov

He used to be a good 2nd liner with us. He hasn’t been the same since Kadri knocked him out a few years ago. Dude just wouldn’t go into the dirty areas anymore, which is where he was best. Last year, he started playing like his rookie year self but then contracted Covid. He got hit hard with that. His conditioning was just not there after coming back. Starting off the season this year, he was pretty good. He wasn’t scoring a whole lot, but he looked like his rookie self going into the dirty areas and taking somewhat decent shots. He’s struggled without a good passer like Krejci.

SomeGuy0910

My guess would be the concussions he has gotten.

lechuck333

He's had one concussion, then the following season he scored 19 goals before Covid cut the season short.

lechuck333

Coach has been dicking him around the last two years. It started when the Bruins acquired Ritchie and Kase from the Ducks. The plan was for the second line to be DeBrusk-Krejci-Kase, and for the couple of games they were together, it was a really really good line. But Kase was made of glass, and missed basically all of last season. The Bruins not being amazingly deep at right wing were in trouble. So Cassidy figured he'd move Ritchie up to play with Krejci and DeBrusk. The problem with that is that Nick Ritchie is hot garbage. The only reason he did so well last season was because he was carried by the powerplay and David Krejci (in fact, he seemed to only score on the PP when Krejci was on for the PP as well, which is extra odd when the Bruins have Bergeron, Marchand, and Pastrnak on the PP without Krejci). So the Bruins couldn't force Ritchie to play outside of his normal left wing role, meaning that DeBrusk had to play on his off wing. Issue there is that DeBrusk is also not good on his off ice. But Ritchie was so bad on his off wing, that DeBrusk was the lesser of two evils there. In fact, if you look at last season, DeBrusk only had like 15-20 games where he started on his normal wing after Kase's injury. In those 15ish games, Ritchie was on his off wing but was immediately moved back by the second period, or DeBrusk played with AHLers and grinders. But somehow in those 15ish games, DeBrusk was playing at 0.5PPG (which is respectable for a middle six player). Plus Covid really fucked things up for him. He's gone on record saying he felt isolated during last season, and he's got a reputation of being a social butterfly. Not a good combo. Plus the Bruins had a small outbreak last season and he got it right when he started going on a little point streak. Major confidence killer. This year, DeBrusk is playing better, mainly due to being in his normal position. But now the issue is that Haula's his center who has incredibly inconsistent offense, a rotating right wing due to injuries to Smith and Foligno. But the real big thing with Cassidy dicking him around is the healthy scratches. This has been a really normal thing with Cassidy. Cassidy loves to sit out young guys regularly. He did it a lot with Anders Bjork. He did it every other game with Danton Heinen. And he does it with DeBrusk. But the issue with doing that is at some point a young guy will say "Fuck this guy. I just don't fucking care anymore". And that's what's happening with DeBrusk. DeBrusk has actually been playing fairly fine (even getting some PK time this year, and doing fairly well), and Cassidy sat him out last night. I'm guessing that's the point where DeBrusk has said he's had enough.

spacegrab

> The problem with that is that Nick Ritchie is hot garbage. Dude I've been saying that for years before we traded him. The missus knows him as Mr.Potato head for all the times he got thrown in the box when we were at games. I could see Debrusk ending up on our team since our coastal teams like to swap pieces for some reason.

TheVargTrain

I was crying laughing when the Leafs went and signed him. Un fucking believable he got $2.5M.

nulspace

To be fair he's actually been playing pretty well for us. Saved a sure goal last night against the Ducks, and has so many invisible assists from just parking right in front of the goalie

PNGhost

>from just parking right in front of the goalie Which works when your O-zone possession numbers are as high as Toronto's right now. He grabbed like 15 goals for us, many on the powerplay, but we never had sustained time for him to get set in front, IMO.

nulspace

very true!

Rikplaysbass

Who would be on the block for the ducks?

palesnowrider1

Ducks are competing so I wonder if they break anything up. They could sneak into the playoffs

reddy-or-not

Any guess as to who the Anaheim counterpart would be?

ellivretaw1

If you watch this guy you’ll realize a good 95% of his shots miss the fucking net by a lot. He couldn’t score on an empty net. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen a DeBrusk breakaway that ends with his shot hitting the glass because he’s trying to pick a corner. Dude doesn’t even come close to making good shot attempts.

bernardsunders

He’s content with his game. If you’re a bruins fan you can predict what he’s going to do with the puck. Same couple of moves not to mention a pussy along the boards.

cote112

He doesn't hustle sums it up pretty well.

Rikplaysbass

He hustles. He just doesn’t do much with the body once he’s there.

grabnerbythepussy

He also doesn’t battle against the boards. I’ve never seen a player who’s guaranteed to not come away with the puck ever when battling.

FroyoComprehensive54

In his rookie/sophomore years he was great along the boards, worked hard, got pucks. Totally changed after the concussion, then COVID, etc. There have been glimpses of him getting back in the grove, but also coasting at times. There's a good chance he turns it around on another team. Bruins are probably selling low, but not much they can do about it. It is still a gamble for whichever team picks him up, but could be a cheap gamble.

8slider

Disagree, the one thing I’ve noticed about him this year is his motor. Unfortunately it’s about the only thing I’ve noticed

cote112

[Cam Neely agrees with me](https://bostonhockeynow.com/2021/11/30/jake-debrusk-neely-bruins-fans-rip-debrusk-teammates-get-his-back/#:~:text=Jake%E2%80%99s%20asset%2C%20his%20biggest%20asset%20is%20speed%2C%20and%20when%20he%E2%80%99s%20not%20skating%20he%E2%80%99s%20not%20really%20helping%20himself%20or%20helping%20us.%20He%20doesn%E2%80%99t%20get%20there%3B%20the%20compete%20for%20those%2050/50%20battles%20aren%E2%80%99t%20there%20because%20he%E2%80%99s%20not%20using%20his%20feet%20to%20get%20there)

8slider

Hey I’m certainly no scout. Might just be because he was playing to get his value up but I noticed him flying around the ice in some games I watched this season

enterthedragonpunch

Oh no. A reclamation project, underperforming and overhyped, making nearly 4m a year, from a successful team? He's even a former 1st round pick? BAH GAWD THAT'S JIM BENNING'S MUSIC

awayfromcanuck

What'll happen is there will be leaks tying the Canucks to DeBrusk and then they will instead trade for Kane to be like "we saved 1M".

afbcom

Incoming Louie DeBrusk in shambles

cote112

We need a center, what ya got?

No_Angle_8106

Well you guys wanted Dvorak, so how about schmaltz

Maxpowr9

We rather splurge on Hertl.

8slider

Oh great a Charlie coyle clone

cote112

That contract sorta sucks

No_Angle_8106

Yes, yes it does. I was hoping he would have a better year so we could unload him at the top of his value like Dvorak

palesnowrider1

Him and Keller are contract anchored to Arizona

palesnowrider1

No thank you on Schmaltz

enterthedragonpunch

1 long covid Brandon Sutter

APigthatflys

We hear Garland is being under appreciated by Green. Or maybe that's just me, either way, I'd bite at a one for one :p

enterthedragonpunch

Great! Just let me drive into a cement wall at 120mph

luckybruinscap

Fucking choking on my szaloncukor over here.

blaze87b

Gesundheit

NathanGa

> szaloncukor hey its me ur báty

luckybruinscap

Of course it's the fuckin Ohio flair

MiamiVicePurple

I’m pretty sure Garland is one of their few bright spots. If that trade happened the Canucks fanbase might collectively jump off a cliff.

kind-of-there

You can pry him from my cold dead hands.

palesnowrider1

Garland would be grand larceny especially with that contract. March could teach him ways of the rat

DaveFoSrs

We actually do need more South Shore boys

AmeriCanadian98

Wow I must be spoiled, but when I hear traded former first rounder to the Wings I think of Vrana and Fabbri. Yzerman makes me very happy

seattIekraken

Listen we'll do 1 for 1 for Garland, no? He's too good this year? Okay fine 1 for 1 for a reclamation project named Petterson. We're doing you guys a favor, don't think too long about it.

HothHanSolo

Add in "I need to make a panic trade to maybe save my job."

sovietmcdavid

[Jim Benning reading this post...](https://c.tenor.com/2KLAWkqU7LQAAAAM/vince-mcmahon.gif)

Yop_BombNA

I’d take the chance in him if it’s just a cap dump, we have Johnny boy chuck on the books just to reach the cap floor. If I was Vancouver would be a no thank from me though.

Zoidberg22

Ken Holland on line one

money_pit_

I think Louie would be petitioning just as hard as anyone on this.

Wolverwings

Way too young

PaperMoonShine

Could Louie even be the Oilers color guy with such a conflict of interest?

eins-zwei-drai-saitl

I mean, he's already 100% homer. I guess we would hear what 110% homer would sound like. Edit: All jokes aside. Louie is a good pro. He did the B's game this season where Jake totally missed an assignment that led to a goal. Louie called him out on it on air and I'm sure they talked about it afterwards too.

Alleluia_Cone

I believe Ray Ferraro did colour for* at least one game his son Landon played in.

Maxpowr9

[It was an endearing interview](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-uq9x69jyTg)

Alleluia_Cone

Couple of great Canadian accents there. Nice that they let Ray do that interview because usually it's the host not the colour guy doing those.

Maxpowr9

Reminds me of the Bruins matinee on Friday when Rangers fans were pissed that two Massholes were announcing the game (Sean McDonough and AJ Mleczko) with Ray Ferraro.

Alleluia_Cone

Rangers fans pissed and heavy hockey accents? I completely approve.

780to702

That was awesome. Never seen it before

ZeppFo

Plus he has never played for Detroit

Primal_Directive

Who would oil send out though?

[deleted]

Well, who do you guys have for LHD? No we don’t want over the hill Duncan Keith.

trenthowell

No one available. We're short LD with injuries, and the uninjured guys don't have as much depth as we'd like. Lagesson is the closest to "available" left D, but he's not worth DeBrusk

[deleted]

Well maybe a three team trade then? What’s Arizona up to? I’d like to get a Nick Schmaltz for a middle 6 forward or even a Ghostbear (can’t believe I’m saying this) for defensemen if they want to tank.

Blenchers

How’s Broberg been?

PaulHannonJr

Broberg is an untouchable. and hes been very solid since hes been called up

trenthowell

Top notch. Absolutely untouchable. First few games scream top 4 defender. Not later, already. He's the depth guy though since he doesn't need waivers, and Kenny likes to overdevelop prospects.

Bluetomorrow83

Good for a rookie but needs more seasoning in AHL. He is making some errors like most young players. Oilers won’t be moving him for DeBrusk as he is showing potential to be top 4 D sooner rather then later. Samorukov would be the LD prospect they would move currently.

3irhead

He's drawing comparisons to a young Ryan Suter.

Rikplaysbass

Any of the injured guys decent? Lol

trenthowell

Nurse and Keith. The first is untouchable, the latter you won't touch.

EnigmaCA

Nope. Your choices are Kassian, Turris, or Koskinen.

Rikplaysbass

I’d rather a pick. Lol

EnigmaCA

We don't have a 2nd this year, and I don't think Jake is worth a 1st. But what do I know?

shotmeorishotyou

No, you're right that he's not worth a first at this point (Boston fan). But if we're not getting a roster player, I also don't see them selling for less than a second - so maybe the fit isn't there. I do love Debrusk though (as a person - he's left lots to be desired as a player, mostly because he has shown high potential), so I would love to see him go home to Edmonton.

EnigmaCA

You can absolutely get a roster player, just one you don't want. 😁 I, too, would love to see him come home, but I'm not sure he is a fit on our current roster, and we have nothing appropriate to offer that makes sense for both sides.

3irhead

We didn't want to give you Keith anyways. And we're not trading LDs rn with all 3 starters currently injured.

whitelightning91

Its a good thing Zboril and Senyshyn turned out to be the Bonifide Beasts of Beantown, otherwise r/hockey folks would never let that shit go

Boston-Nolan

Zboril’s legit. Senyshyn is big stinky Doo Doo

whitelightning91

Idk. We’ll see. I concede he could even get better; although 25ish is a pretty good indicator of “they are who we thought they were” Rip D Green

lechuck333

I know you're being sarcastic, but Zboril has played surprisingly well for the Bruins as of late. No, he's not Chabot, but he's showing that he might end up actually being a top 4 defenseman (which I'll give him credit, I wrote him off a couple years ago).

BoSocks91

Im told to get over that draft. Then I see this and old feelings come flaring up. I just want to forget that draft happened. Although Zboril has been looking decent as of late. Hindsight, or not, the players that BOS could’ve had makes me weep.

reddy-or-not

And the thing is its not just lost opportunity in the abstract. We got those picks because we moved Lucic and Hamilton who were both important pieces. You can’t just get nothing for both those guys without eventually seeing a steep decline in your franchise. I wonder, had Hamilton never wigged out and signed a new deal with us how different things turn out. Do we trade Krug? What do we get in return, etc

tcblack

What does it take for Oilers to get it done? Let's goooo

cote112

A center with a future

ISurvivedCOVID19

One gently used Kyle Turris come on down.

ZeppFo

Probably 4 milly going out and an asset

tcblack

Do they want Kassian and a pick because we can do that

MetalStoofs

Does Kassian qualify as a middle to bottom 6 veteran forward that plays with grit? Because we will take it!

tcblack

Does a bear shit in the woods???

shotmeorishotyou

We'll take it and we'll hate it!

kitsilanokyle

I feel like Warren Foegele is our Jake Debrusk. Don't see a fit here.

ehr1c

A time machine to go back and not trade for Griffin Reinhart

tcblack

We fired Chia leave us alone :(

22edudrccs

McDavid-DeBrusk 1 for 1. I think that’s a really fair trade

dukeshockey11

We can throw in a 3rd to sweeten it up

shotmeorishotyou

This is the new Hall-Lottery Magic

bobbybuildsbombs

Would love to see Jake on the te, would be so cool for Louie... I just don't see it happening unless Arizona eats salary as a middle man.

Remoock

not much to be honest

CptFosma

Bruins are god awful at drafting and developing players.

ejh1993

It’s gotta be a systemic issue man. We have drafted only two dudes in the past 10 drafts that have been true impact players (ie cornerstone top 6 or top pair players)

shotmeorishotyou

To be faaaaaaiir - Carlo was a legit great pick in the second.

CptFosma

I’d argue it goes to the past 20 years. I think I can count on one hand how many talented players we have drafted and developed.

chiddie

Pasta, Marchand, Bergeron, McAvoy, Hamilton, Krejci, Lucic, plus solid mid-lineup guys like Carlo, Grzelyck and Mark Stuart. It's not amazing, but it's better than you're presenting it.

Rikplaysbass

You’re talking to a fanbase that 50% of hates Rask. Don’t expect talent recognition to be great with us. Lol

db0nk

Marchand, Bergeron and Krejci were all drafted 15+ years ago. The fact those guys were still 3/4 of our entire offense right up until Krejci left really proves this team sucks at drafting. We’ve only really hit on McAvoy and Pasta in the last 10 years and Pasta was a Chia pick. Besides the automatic picks from the Leafs and Kessel at #5 you can really start looking at it being almost 20 years since this team drafted effectively

reddy-or-not

Seguin too but he was kind of a gimme. And Heinen was more than fine for a 4th rounder. Donato did not quite work but got us Coyle

ejh1993

After the 2006 draft is where it gets super dry

reddy-or-not

We coulda had Logan Couture who was taken one pick after Zach Hamill. The Bruins should never draft another player named “Zach”

reddy-or-not

Well, silly, did you forget Jordan Caron and Shaone Morrison? Or Malcolm Subban? Or Evgeni Ryabchikov?(going back a ways). Mark Stuart, Zach Hammill, Ryan Spooner, etc etc ad infinitum

BearBruin

Should have fired Cam and Sweeney already, TBH.

Wowtcg12

Have the bruins changed their scouting system at all since 2012?

arkady48

Wonder if they'd be interested in a return of Nick Ritchie? /s

Boston-Nolan

After all the playoff victories, Rask for Raycroft, Kessel for Hamilton and Seguin, the dirtiest thing the Bruins have ever done to the Leafs was to let them sign Nick Ritchie. We should have kicked down Dubas’ door. Stage a fucking riot, anything. I’m sorry, we’ve failed you.

slabby

Steve Yzerman pops out of a dark alley to say, "Psst. Hey, you. Yeah, you. You need some cap space? I got just what you need. We can take your guy. 4 mil? No problem. But it'll cost ya."

lidsy5

Where do you think he'd slot into the lineup? Maybe 3rd line if Namestnikov is traded?

slabby

Either Zadina's spot or Namestnikov's spot, depending on who they move. Feels like these change of scenery trades are usually about moving one guy who needs a change for another guy who needs a change. I could see DeBrusk for Zadina. Wings fans won't like it, but these guys have pretty similar production. DeBrusk is actually a little ahead this year, and obviously has proven a little more as an offensive player at the NHL level with that 27 goal year.

reddy-or-not

I would accept that trade and see what happens

Juicebochts

No way Yzerman does that. Zadina literally just turned 22 3 days ago, they aren't giving up on him and any wings fan that thinks they'd trade him for anything less than a ridiculous overpayment probably doesn't know what they're talking about.

Juicebochts

Wings fans won't like it because it's flat out stupid. Absolutely no chance Yzerman trades zadina for debrusk. They're similar offensively while zadina is miles better defensively, not to mention zadinas chemistry with vrana last year and his possession stats this year are amazing, and zadina just turned 22 literally 3 days ago. His shooting% is ridiculously low, it will go up, giving up on him for anything less than an obvious overpayment would be idiotic, even in a "change of scenery" move.

JBR409

Barzal, Chabot, Connor

RuchW

I'm surprised this is so far down haha

ansamech

The sens org would lose the tiny scrap of legitimacy they have left if they traded chabot away

CharlieMcAvoy7337

Barzal may be in a similar position in a few years….

Kalculator

delusional

brainlightning

The talent is there but it’s just not working out for him in Boston. Sucks to see because he is beloved by the team, and his flashes of greatness are tempting to keep him around for, but it’s time he moves elsewhere.

JeffreySwaggins

Thinking about 2015 for some reason

preeeeemakov

You're not wrong. That has to be the most incompetent three 1st rounders in history.

SomeGuy0910

Zboril was taken where he was projected so I don't blame that pick even though in hindsight it was bad. The other two though, yes, awful. They would've been better off basing their draft off of what happened in EA NHL.

Nomahs_Bettah

yeah, the Zboril and even to some extent DeBrusk picks are a little bit revisionist history. Zboril was predicted to be one of the best defensemen in the draft – save Hanifin, Werenski, and Provorov. all of them went top-10 picks, and for good reason. he'd just dominated the Q, and for a first round defenseman, he was a good choice. DeBrusk was predicted to go first round (2nd in goals/4th in points for his position in the WHL, 40 goal season, plus scored 7 points in the last two games to make the playoffs). he was chosen a little high, but initially it looked like he was going to work out really well for us. two 40+ point seasons 2017-19, then 19-20 he was on pace to match or exceed that before the bubble. with the benefit of hindsight, it's easy to say who should have been drafted over either of them, but there is, crucially, a *logic* you can follow regarding the selection of both of those players. and in the context of other whiffs on players predicted to go early made by teams that first round (Pavel Zacha going 6th overall; Timo Meier going 9th overall; Lawson Crouse going 10th, IIRC – one could even argue about drafting Strome 3rd, although he was certainly predicted high) I would be willing to understand not firing them. I think most of those front offices would take players lower in the draft over those players, too. not going for Barzal, Connor, Chabot, Boeser, Konency...god that was moronic. but u/ThewsTML is correct in that it was specifically going for Senyshyn, a guy not even predicted to go in the second round, let alone the first...that was the breaking point. there were players I would love to go back and choose over DeBrusk or Zboril right now, yes. but two of them weren't crazy talk. Senyshyn was insanity. however, it's that the drafts after that don't seem to have fixed that draft's issues. one terrible draft – even one with three straight first round picks, two of which you can at least see the reasoning for – does not inherently break a team, especially not one with a strong core. setback, yes; break, now. but the pattern stayed, draft after draft. should we really have taken Frederic in the first when DeBrincat was still on the board? Lindgren over Fox? I just don't really understand what our FO is aiming for sometimes in terms of success in the league (for the long term) or going "all in" on this season (our signings don't necessarily line up with that), and it's weird. yes, McAvoy was an excellent draft and I'm thrilled we got him, but half the other picks I can't seem to reason about. why would you draft a guy that was always predicted to be a grinder, bottom six depth piece – and you do need those for championships, don't get me wrong – in the first round?

ThewsTML

I think the Senyshyn one in particular was shocking to many

Curious-Ad7295

Zboril has taken a HUGE leap this year. Not to the point where I’d say it made sense taking him over Chabot or Barzal, but if he keeps this up I’m not sure I’d call him a bust although I’m certainly biased.

JeffreySwaggins

It’s crazy how that one draft could have set up the Bruins to continue their dominance for years to come, instead it’s looking like their window is closing soon. Hell, they probably win in 2019 if they hit with at least 2 of those picks

preeeeemakov

A bit late, everyone knows what Jake is at this point. Tons of talent, tries about half the time (and even then only on offense).

blaze87b

God damnit. He gets his mojo back, starts looking great again, then he gets scratched. After Bradley? Fuck everything about today

Maxpowr9

This "project" has gone on too long. He's at best a middle 6 forward.

preeeeemakov

Yep. Contract was too big the moment it was signed.

popkornking

Only in fucking Boston is $4M for a middle six forward considered too big.

preeeeemakov

You haven't seen him play.

Pikachu_smokes_darts

Hard to say, I think there is still a chance he could play on a top line or 2nd line. But not with Boston. Our top line is elite level, and debrusk has spent most his career bouncing around every other line with a new cast every other game. He has had a weird development into the league. Let’s hope we can trade him for a D-man and he finds success elsewhere.

preeeeemakov

Should trade him while he's hot, to hopefully snare some fool GM into thinking he's turned a corner.

respaaaaaj

Cassidy spent last year trying to force him into his offside all season in order to put Nick fucking Ritchie on the second line, then this year they put him on his natural side, and then pair him with the corpses of Huala and Foligno. He's the only reason the third line has done anything at all, so of course Cassidy scapegoats him. This is going to look real fucking bad for the Bruins in hindsight.

Weslg96

Copying from my comment on the bruins sub. With the exceptions of Carlo and McAvoy the Sweeney Era for the bruins has been a nightmare for developing young players. If you are going to put young players in the lineup you have to accept there will be growing pains, but the bruins bench these players after 1 bad game or play them like 9 minutes a night and act shocked when they don't do much in that very limited time. It's inexcusable that DeBrusks development has stalled this badly and nothing was done for years about it, and now his value is at its lowest. In 6 years of drafting the Bruins still had to spend pretty big in free agency to replace holes in the lineup that prospects should have filled. If this team really did want to contend then said prospects should have been traded 2-4 years ago. I really hope that when this core's window is fully closed and the Bruins are looking at a rebuild they clean house, I don't trust the current drafting and development of this management group at all. Not to mention numerous other issues I've had with Sweeney and Neely.

ejh1993

I think this is more on Neely tbf - this has been an issue that stems all the way back to 2007… since then we have really only drafted and retained two cornerstone players and drafted and parted with two others… it’s absolutely crazy the lack of risk this organization takes when it comes to developing youth

Weslg96

I forgot to mention Neely but I agree he's the bigger issue, if/when Sweeney goes I hope Neely goes too, there's too many frustrating trends with this teams development record

ejh1993

It’d be interesting to see who’d replace him

BCEagle13

This is a lot of words without a lot of actual substance. Jake DeBrusk was a second line winger getting solid minutes for multiple years. Playing through many stretches of bad games, like many other Boston rookies. Debrusk’s stalling seems to have coincided with a concussion that it seems like he played through which with what we know about concussions can have devastating long term effects. There was also Covid thrown in there as well Too early to tell on anyone drafted after 2017. Frederic, Lauzon, Zboril, Vladar, Lindgren, Swayman are/were all developed well. Studnika, Vaakanainen, and Steen still have potential. Also there were young players that weren’t drafted by Sweeney but were developed in that time frame as well: Kuraly, C. Miller, Bjork, Heinen, Vatrano, Clifton And players like Donato that they sold early for maximum value Most of the Bruins free agent pickups have been for depth positions, which is pretty normal for a contender. They have also leveraged high draft picks to try to contend

STG_Resnov

I swear if this shit is going to drag on. Obviously not the same hype as a Laine or Eichel trade, but I also don’t want it to be dragged out as long as either of them. Hopefully we get a deal done this week.

luckybruinscap

Bruins probably just hold out for someone in that Barzal/Conner tier, maybe a draft pick thrown in to make up for Jakes higher draft status.

STG_Resnov

DeBrusk, a 2nd, and a prospect like Beecher could bring in something potentially nice. If we do make a trade, we need a real 2C or bring in top 4 LHD. I think that trading for a D might be easier, but I’m not exactly sure of that.

luckybruinscap

That's a lot of meh, honestly. I fully expect JDB to be traded for like a 3rd and that's the end of it. I would love if they shored up the D, but who is really out on the left side? We're committed to a lot of good enough dmen and it'd be a pretty bad look to trade Forbort or Reilly less than a year into their deals.

Mamsey902

He’s worth more than a third guy lol

luckybruinscap

Here's hoping, I'm not expecting it though

jakereed16

Reilly has been pretty good. Forbort has been...there.

pinkpalz

What a week.

Sharks77

What would a realistic return look like?

NotARaccoon13

JDB, a pick, and a serviceable prospect/taxi squad guy for a bona fide 2nd line player

[deleted]

We need a LHD

seeldoger47

What would you give for Dahlin?

STG_Resnov

Has he been that bad this year that you’re really contemplating a trade involving him?

seeldoger47

Yes, I would quietly explore the trade market if I were the GM just to get a sense of what his value is.

[deleted]

Taylor Hall? Lol

dukeshockey11

No way. Taylor hall needs these 3 games that Marchand is gone with Bergeron and pasta. He’s gonna be rejuvenated. Book it

[deleted]

I was kidding about Hall but I hope.

dukeshockey11

Eh, you never know.. people are starting to get down on him

seeldoger47

Been there done that

epicface4412

What do you think would be fair for him? Seems like a great option for the D-deprived Bruins, I just don’t want them to throw around first round picks unless we get something spectacular(2022/23 drafts looking real nice)

seeldoger47

Jones and a 1st went for Boqvist, two of Chicago's firsts, and a second so somewhere around there give or take.

Rikplaysbass

Yes but the Hawks are idiots. That Jones contract my god.

prositronmchappy

I'm an Albertan, & only have one eye, but I'll try my best. His father rocks.

breakthebrad

Would you like one slightly used elite first line winger Zach Kassian?

dukeshockey11

I like another first line winger you have named Zach

RiseAbove87

I wonder if Sweeney would be interested in Zucker...

Boston-Nolan

Is zucker bad now? I remember him being a great depth piece like a year and a half ago.

RiseAbove87

He had one outlier year that got him his contract, while being on Minni's PP1 unit. He doesn't get that role here, which hurts him. His career 5v5 P/P60 is 1.74. DeBrusk's is 1.85. Last year he was quite awful. This year his process is better but he's not getting rewarded with points. I could see him doing better with you guys, and I could see DeBrusk regaining his form here. He would be Malkin's LW, and Geno is close to returning. Could be a win-win trade. One thing I'll say about Zuck is that he'll work hard at least. Did produce in the playoffs as well.

boozecooker

How about Dumoulin?

ISurvivedCOVID19

Can I interest Boston in a Zack Kassian?

seeldoger47

Would love him on the Sabres.

Rikplaysbass

Put him and Bjork together for old times sake.

PNGhost

Debrusk on the right lol

reddy-or-not

For Middlestadt?

seeldoger47

tempting. maybe if Debrusk was younger.

jcdevries92

Would petterson and a 2nd rounder be an underpay?

3irhead

Biggest issue with Debrusk, is that although he's still an RFA, he's making 4.8mil this season, and you have to give him that AAV or better on his next contract. So I think any team trading for him will want to put him in a position to succeed and see if he's worth retaining, or let him go to UFA status, as a result paying any more than a rental price is a risk.

FusionClapBomb

Kyle Connor

fodeethal

Not enough #grit. Neely in 2015, probably

Pikachu_smokes_darts

Never heard of em

RipleyR_88

Hmmmm wonder if the Leafs would be in on this somehow. LW pretty weak. If a change of scenery would actually give him a bit of a boost it would be an upgrade on most of their guys on the left.

fudge_u

Koskinen's playing well these days. ;)
