The beautiful current river
By - chickenwild
One of the jewels of the Ozarks.
I love the blue azure of the far bank in that shot. Nice job!
Agree! Take great picture
Two rivers? Jerk tail?
Pulltite to round spring
Nice! It looked too wide for the upper! Such a great float.
Good float. Love where sinking creek enters in.
How long is that float? Time wise
4-6 hours it's 9 miles
9 miles is the length of exactly 142204.14 'Standard Diatonic Key of C, Blues Silver grey Harmonicas' lined up next to each other.
Thank you. Did you use an outfitter or your own gear?

Love the clear and cold current! Meramec river boy here though
It's nice there are still a few great rivers left that are protected. Other streams in southwest mo are a shell of what they were even just 20 years ago.
Wow. Why is that, Caleb?
Agricultural runoff I think is biggest problem. Nobody wants planning and zoning in the rural counties. The James river is one that I've seen the most impact on. The spring floods that seem to get worse and worse fill in the eddys and deep holes. The gravel bottom is covered in algae, little to no crawdads and not near the fish population.
Oh, gross. What the hell is wrong with people??? The USA is utterly poisoned by agricultural products.
You can hear the sound of the a canoe hit the shallows with this image that perfect depths that you hear the bottom but keep slowly moving forward...💦💦Beautiful beautiful memories, thank you for sharing. 💯
I've been living in FL for quite some time now. I grew up in MO though. I recognize those type of rivers there in the Midwest. Loved to fish and swim in them. Yes, we did the float trips too. Good times.
What river might this be?
Current, it's in the title, spring feed, shallow and cold like free ac in the summer.
Current is a funny word. I read it like , electric current, and didn't think of it like the name of the river.
Looks like a great place!
It IS amazing. Just gorgeous.
One of the best rivers in the country imo! (But I prefer the Jack’s Fork- little warmer! Or even better- float two days and do both rivers!)
We do the current on the 1st day and raft the jacks the next! My favorite place to be
I did a 2-day float trip with my daughter on the current and I have to say while beautiful it is perhaps one of the slowest rivers around.
I've never been in a hurry when floating. It's nice to slow down.
To an extent I agree, however we had never done an over-night float trip, never floated this area, and the water was moving slow enough we were slightly worried about making it far enough the first day.
Aha, fair enough.
second best float in MO
Pretty, cold and swift.
Very cold, that section is a easy float
Any fish in the current river? I've never been but looks pretty cool!
I have seen some, ppl always fishing
Before my kids were born, I used to canoe the current for a couple of days every year. It's a great river, but I remember the horse flies being terrible!
Yes, tell the tourists *all* about the Current River.
