Green-eyed-Psycho77

Time to make Niagara Falls look like a leaking faucet

samurott1

Congratulations, you broke the game haha.

Lithorex

Doesn't Gyarados learn Waterfall at L21 anyway?

SofaKing5

Huh, apparently it does. Whoops

Lithorex

Also, for DD Gyarados I prefer a +Def/+SpDef nature over a +Atk nature. The slightly higher damage doesn't really matter once sufficiently boosted, while increased bulk often makes it possible to get to said boosts.

TyrannoROARus

True gyarados stans use +Speed

Lithorex

+Speed is great, but it's a lot easier to EV train Speed rather than Defence or especially Special Defence.

Recorder-S

Welp. One level earlier to rip and tear, right? LOL.

SappySoulTaker

You never know when waterfall could save you at lv20 tho. ;)

baat01

XD Just did the same mistakes yesterday

Thegameguy12

I think we need to have a Gyarados appreciation day or month to worship one of the best Pokemon for any Nuzlocke and show off his/her amazing power

Im_regretting_this

Yeah, gen 1 gyrados is a terrifying thing

Raichu76

Available in just about every game. Has one of the best abilities in the game. Gen 4 on is has a great movepool and great sweeping power. It also looks fucking awesome.

iluvchess

Marnie uses Spark Hop uses Thunderbolt (Sad Bernie face)

Lithorex

Another reason why Gyrados is so great. It baits Electric moves hard, allowing you to get in a Ground type for free.

KKXIV

Didnt even think ab that also free intimidate pivot

Lithorex

Yes, and then that Ground type baits a Water type attack, allowing Gyarados a free switchin. Which is another Intimidate.

Ycat137

Damn, these are hard tactics. I’m new to nuzlocking and I’m learning a lot here.

Xx_Noobkin_xX

Oh yeah for sure, pretty sure intimidate is what wins me the most games. Anything that is a big physical attacker becomes infinitely less scary if you get two intimidates off

tapuachyarokmeod

Gotta play around crits though

JCorby17

Krookodile and Gyarados are best friends

iluvchess

Well yeah but you just lost all your Dragon Dances

Lithorex

You don't Dragon Dance randomly.

amidamaru8_8

and then you lose it because of a mistake, I lost like 4 of the fuckers because of mistakes

vamos_pular

To everyone saying that electric types will wreck Gyarados - most of the top tier Nuzlocke Pokémon have 4x weaknesses. Garchomp, Salamence, Gyarados, Swampert, Magnezone etc. If you play carefully, that means that you can easily bait those quad effective moves and get free switch-ins, which are huge if you play set mode.

AscendedViking7

Waterfall is nice, but I personally find that Return is much better.

Maleficent-Audience

Why not both?

AscendedViking7

Because Surf is a much better alternative for Waterfall, at least in Gen 3 where I always Nuzlocke in.

Maleficent-Audience

That's only because in gen 3 there's no physical special split :o Gyarados does better with a physical attack in gen 4 and after

playerNaN

Yeah, gen 3 is probably Gyarados's worst generation. Having such a strong attack without a STAB attacking move sucks.

wassuupp

Greedent also pairs super well in double battles with gyara cause it can take hits with cheek pouch and stockpile

RavenRegime

Don't forget intimidate

Lonely_Repair4494

Any character with an Electric Type: Huh!Now,that's cute!

Skit-Flicks

This is how you sweep in B2, Work up Return Stoutland.

NessDCMC

That's the thing about nuzlocke in newer gen games is that there more easy to do

DuckoGoesQuack

Ultra sun and ultra moon would like to disagree

Supercicci

Yeah seriously. Improved move pools also mean that opponents have more coverage. Physically offensive opponent? Rock Slide/Stone Edge and Earthquake. Everything and their mother has Pursuit, Bite or Crunch depending on progress and slow mons have Payback. Double battles? Take a Toxic/Will o' Wisp and Venoshock/Hex combo. Totem AlolaWak has a Thick Club and uses Detect every other turn. There's so many situations where you have to one-shot or risk losing a mon.

wassuupp

The level curve in gen 2 says otherwise
