jenovalife1

oh mannn how are you liking it so far

Thegameguy12

Loving it of course, for right nowmmm I think I need a break.. my wrist is killing me

jenovalife1

those Collector's editions are bigger than they seem!

Thegameguy12

Well it's 3 volume stuck together. So it is weighs a lot more

screamingmonkey2

God you are in for a treat now, how are you liking it all so far?

Thegameguy12

So far Im remembering a lot of thing for the first two gens story and why I love them, but I never actually read any further than that. So, gen 3 and 4 are only mangas I haven't touched

screamingmonkey2

I'm proud of you to do this

Thegameguy12

Thanks Dad!! (Haha! Jk! XD) I thought this will be perfect opportunity to finally do so

screamingmonkey2

(Comedy gold) hope you love these arcs!

I’ve never read a second of the Pokémon manga… I see the collectors edition is on Amazon for $16. Is this a good deal, and are these worth reading? I’m a longtime Pokémon game player and have dabbled in the anime a few times.

Thegameguy12

Oh yeah. It's a good deal if you want to experience the manga storys and variety of characters that so different from each other. Each character have their own goal that is not just becoming a champion. Black from the black and white manga is the only character that have that goal from the start

RealScriptyy

You forgot Sun. He wanted to make 100 milion yen from the start of the story. It even gives him an intro on why. So it's Black and Sun.

JoJosapiens

Sun didn't want to become the champion.

RealScriptyy

Oh you said the goal of becoming the champion. I can't read lol.

Aromantic_Benzene

If you've always wanted more worldbuilding in pokemon, the manga is the best place for that. And if not, I'd say go for it if you're willing to read farther than the first 3 volumes whether you enjoyed the first 3. The first 3 are iconic, but from a longtime reader's perspective, they're mostly a fun, episodic adventure with some neat deviations from the games. After that, you'll see continuity between volumes that rewards the reader for noticing references and makes for fun rereads. Storylines are more unique in later arcs and have more depth too. Later volumes are my favorite, but it may be hard to fully enjoy them without reading everything that came before it. If you're on the fence about spending money, there is the [jb2448.info](https://jb2448.info) archive that has translations of most volumes. Volume 1 doesn't appear in the list, but there is a wonky translation of it under Scanlations > PocketMonsters.

JagGentlemann

As someone who thinks that the story in the games is dumb and underdeveloped and in the anime is just dumb (except for the Team Rocket, I love those guys, but they are used for some bad practices that people forgive because they are just that entertaining), the manga is amazing. It gives actual character to everyone. Characters that literally do nothing in the games except maybe looking cool, in the manga have something to say and something to do. Battles are also dangerous, it isn't "Oh well, I'm the bad guy, let's have a friendly pokemon battle".

Fourteenthangel

I highly recommend the Pokemon Special for any time of Pokemon fan. Though especially those who grew up playing the games.

thechocolatefrog37

it's not jojo pokemon

leopfldoozsbshs

What a horrible description

da__owl

im almost done rereading RS, it is well worth reading

Thegameguy12

Hope they continue the collector volume up to Black and White. I keep hearing people saying there's going to be 10 volume and that's it (hopefully not tho)

RyanAus95

Those editions look really nice and I do want them but I already own all the individual volumes.

saiksylar

I recently ordered them too. hopefully they arrive sooner. I also wish they continue the collector edition with DPPt onwards.

Thegameguy12

Same there. They could make it into like a different collector edition than the one we're having right now. Hopefully that would be the case

XBladeSora

My first experience with re-reading them all (Up to DP) was that they seemed a lot more rushed then when I first read them as a kid wish I could go back to that time.

Thegameguy12

They do seem rush at some parts of the manga, but I don't think they could really cover everything that happened unless making every single generation over 100 volume and counting. For the most part, I feel like it's pretty even on the pacing. Unless you want fuller in your manga

Thegameguy12

Update! I'm just finished reading vol 7 and 100% will pick up vol 8 next week
