I still love my Playbar 👍
I still play my Lovebar
Feels like I am the only one with Playbase. 🙄🤔
I've got a Playbase, don't worry you're not alone.
I’m using a playbase as well. Love it and not planning to upgrade anytime soon.
I have a Playbase in my bedroom and love it.
Nah I love my playbase
I have a playbar and playbase, no rush for the arc as my tv doesn't even support earc ! And the sound of those beast is just yum
We have a Playbase upstairs and downstairs. I think soundbases are great... wish they got more traction with consumers.
I have a Playbase and it’s great.
I was tempted to get a playbase before!
Not alone. I love my Playbase. Though the “I like new stuff” in me wants to buy an Arc. 😜
Got one here too, chose it because it’s got plenty of power and bass without a sub. My living room wall is shared with my neighbour and I don’t want to be a dick so no sub. Don’t know what I’ll do when the Playbase gives up though, the Beam probably isn’t up to the job on its own and the Arc is way, way too big for my TV. Might be looking at an Amp and getting the Bowers & Wilkins out of storage.
You should lay it down instead
I think it looks bulky. Maybe because mine is laid down and I am used to it :)
I kinda like it standing up instead, more of a statement! And theres not enough room to lay it down with the tv stand too ha
Mount the TV on the wall, then you'll have plenty of room.
And put that PS5 in the vertical position. Looks so much better IMO
Still love mine, no reason to upgrade what so ever.
By the way... not try to be a Dick about your set-up, but your playbar is upside down.
Can confirm OP has it correct.
If he mounted it above the tv, then flip I’d like you said.
I was a Sonos rep years ago.
I think it can go either way? If you google 90% of the pictures are this way!
If wall mounted, you are correct.
I don’t know whether or not it will make much of a difference, but sonos recommendations are to place it like this when not mounted/on a shelve
Ah yeah, I thought you meant with the grey bar at the bottom! Sounds fine anyways, theres not enough space to have it the other way with the tv stand - But I think it fits in nice with the space! It does make it more of a statement that way, especially compared to the new soundbars which are a lot smaller but I kinda like it like it!
Like I said, I don’t want t be a dick about it, just checking if you knew.
Edit: I see that I am being downvoted by people... sorry if I offended anyone without knowing... I was just trying to help.
Upvoted you! Appreciated, I guess it is kinda irregular having it just stood up like that compared to other pictures, still sounds just as good though! I had it the other way in my old house and kept changing it around to see if one way sounded better and couldnt tell any differences
Thanks. Right back at you 😉
I think you were downvoted for accidentally using the wrong description. OPs playbar is not upside down. It is oriented in the correct position. But, the manual does suggest not resting it on a shelf in this orientation. This is the wall mount orientation and for best performance, it should be mounted, not resting.
Ah yeah... I claim second language impairment and stuff😅
Not sure why people feel the urge to downvote you...
Reddit is a bit fickle I guess.
I upvoted you to compensate 😉
Is it supposed to be flat or like that
You can put it either way! When its wall mounted its like this
what’s the rating by bernie?
I was wondering if I was the only person who saw that.
Is he the new Where's Waldo or Elf on the Shelf?
What did you think of tenet? I loved it and have watched a few times. From what I can tell you have it on digital? The 4K UHD Blu-ray is 100% worth it for the imax scenes, which actually make up a substantial proportion of the movie, and boost in audio and visual quality. I got it on sale for $20 and ran it on my PS5. Unfortunately the disc is DTS:X and PS5 wont decode to Dolby Digital, at least not to my knowledge or attempts, but the PCM 5.1 still sounded great.
I loved it! Everyone was saying it was going to be difficult to understand, loads that probably went over my head but you can definitely enjoy it still. The action scenes in it were really good too! I rented it from Chilli, think it might be my tv app but it only played at dolby digital 2.0 which was a bit of a let down as Nolan usually does great stuff with sound in his films!
Yeahh I love it
I still love my playbar. A playbar is for life, not just for Christmas.
Absolutely. Have a couple and they aren’t going anywhere.
That sound okay stood up like a wall mount but not mounted? Or is it just standing up for the picture?
Just the best way for it to fit on the cabinet, I tried it both ways and always thought this way sounded better to be honest but now Im questioning it with all the comments ha!
I still love mine. I have it that way round stuck on the wall (: one of my best purchases ever.
Just watched Tenet last night! Sounded great on my Sonos 5.1 (no playbar at though)
Did you like it? I thought it was pretty good, not his best but I was pretty gripped with it still, didnt look at my phone once for 2 and a half hours which is always a good sign for a film!
Oh I see i, oh I see it on the plant
i have a playbar, i will probably never have the living room where atmos makes much sense. i test drove a arc with my set up (with 1 gen1 sub and ones as rears). arc sounded, to my ears, slightly better for movies and such. playbar was slightly better for my music
I have the sub and play 1s too, although the sub isnt positioned very well now. On the advert it looked great how the arc worked for movies!
Still love mine as it powers my kids theater room for PS5 etc. For me I required a true hifi set up to achieve dynamic atmos sound tho for the main viewing has room. Still use the arc for the bedroom tho. Sound bars are great for space saving just can’t comprar with set speakers
Yea I still love my playbar. I haven't even pushed it to its limits to be honest . Living room is like 12x17 so it's plenty loud, clear and has enough bass to piss off your neighbors. This paired with a 4k t.v spectrum cable ps4 ps5 and it sounds the clearest out of all the speakers I've bought in the past .
I have a playbar upstairs and an arc downstairs. I wish I could say I hear a big difference between the two, but I really don’t. The playbar is still great.
Thst puts me off spending 700 pounds for an upgrade
I really wanted to be able to say there’s a huge difference, but if there is, I can’t hear it.
The Arc LOOKS awesome, but sounds pretty much the same for me.
You’re right that the sound is similar and that’s their goal with all their speakers aside from the 5s, but much wider stereo image and atmos is nice when content is mixed well. Took a few tunings to get it dialed in.
I’ve got it set up with some rear surrounds, but no sub yet. I’m sure I’ll be fired up when I get the sub. To be clear, I’m not saying the arc isn’t a great product. Really, I’m just saying the playbar is a great product.
Doesn't Arc wider soundstage make a more enveloping sound while watching movies?
Maybe for an audiophile, but I really can’t hear much of a difference. It’s incremental for me, and I actually think the bass (without a sub) might sound cleaner on the playbar.
By way of update here, I added the sub and surrounds and it’s like they freed up the arc to do its thing. The sub, in particular, made such a huge difference. I went from indifferent to wow in about 2 minutes.
I’ve got 2 and I love them both so much
I’m in no rush for an arc but I feel an Arc would look better in your setup
I'm tempted to be honest as the white one would be great, I just don't have any other rooms to put the playbar in so id need to sell it which would be a pain as it would be hard to deliver I bet
That would have to be a local, offer-up, mercari local or Craigslist type sale so someone can pick it up from you. That would be the easiest way if you don’t have the box. If you do you could ship with those services or even eBay.
I like the bigger drivers of the playbar. I have all speakers set at +10 for both bass and treble. The sub is only set to +5, still plenty of bass. Wife doesn't like it when I turn our house into a nightclub. Baby shark is surprisingly bass heavy for a kids song 😂😂
You well cultured human, +10 bass and treble all the way, makes the experience like 10 times better, i change the sub from -5 to + 15 depending on the music/movie and what time of day it is (+15 at night obviously...)
I'm always switching my surround settings, some songs feel like nothing is coming out the back and the others its like its all out the back and if I'm too close to them it's too much!
Do you have them ambient for music? Or full volume? I normally have my play 3 surrounds on +7 for movies but they're ambient (they aren't in proper surround places, they're like 5 or 6 meters behind me) i sit halfway between the surrounds and the playbar so for music its equalled out
6 meters is 6.56 yards
I've got the loudness turned on as I think its much better for music. Problen is they are right beside the sofa so depending where you are sitting it can be okay or too much. Fine when I'm in the middle just need to adjust it if I'm in the corner
Just got a Playbar + Pair of Ones at Christmas and completely love mine! The Beam is insufficient and the Arc $$$ is hard to justify and my irregular ceiling will not work with Atmos whatsoever. Just using it as a Soundbar and with the Apple TV for music streaming so not worried about the future Sonos app support loss everyone whines about since I never use the Sonos app other than adjusting settings. The sound is simply amazing!
I had the playbar but decided to upgrade to the Arc and it sounds incredible, especially with my PS5!
That cord violation would drive me crazy
The controller wires? My nvidia shield bluetooth controller broke and I have to use a wired xbox one for it now! :'( So frustrating, I barely use it to be fair just have it for the basketball! And the ps5 one needed charging! I was tempted to take a proper photo with it all clean and everything in place but just had that one from last night!
The white cord, on the left. But that's me 🤷♂️
Your Nvidia Shield should have received an update recently to allow for it to be paired with PS5 and new Xbox controllers, regardless it should always be able to use your TV remote via HDMI-CEC.
You should really invest in charging docks that you put out of the way though, would make the whole thing a lot cleaner.
I used to be able to control it with my remote and then all of a sudden it stopped working! Need to google how to get it to work again sometime as the old xbox controller isnt ideal, got the stadia controller as well thinking it would work which it does with the stadia app but not on the menus unless its plugged in!
We absolutely love ours
Love mine! Rocking the playbar, 2 play 3s as rears and the sub. Sounds amazing!
Same! The sound really is amazing, especially the bass with the 3's instead of the ones, and the volume too, if you haven't already turn up the bass and treble up to +10 its makes it 10 times better, more warmth and depth. Thats only the system in our kitchen tho... In our lounge we have a 10 year old Panasonic 5.1 blu ray player system, i was thinking about making a beefy 5.2.2 system for it with like 18 drivers for the l/c/r. (Double the playbar) The sonos system is still a beast tho, amazing for any movies or music
My playbar and sub are still perfect for now. Mount and lay it down though, like others have mentioned if you can.
Honestly I always thought it sounded better this way when I tried it out, why are people saying it would sound worse? Works that way if wall mounted! And keeps the cats off it too ha
Haha, I mean if it keeps the cats away, then fair, leave it.
Love my PlayBar. Have it for a few years now and we use it everyday. It’s part of the 3.1 surround set on our main TV.
Need the surrounds dude, it transforms the whole system (by some cheep play 3's on ebay or whatever you can find them on they have way better bass than the ones)
We have one in the office and hardly used it. After covid started last year very few of us are in the office and never use it. Probably over a year it has been turned on!
Ask the boss to take it home if it aint used? Itll transform your movie experience
What’s that TV board called?
It was a a toronto tv cabinet and panel, I kept wanting similar ones from barker and stonehouse that were like 2k. This was much cheaper and pretty good quality! Comes in two different sizes, mine was the bigger one
It’s out of stock in Germany and Even if I don’t have the money as I just bought a TV. Just curious
I am, but not like that
Still sounds great, but it's getting hard to find TVs with IR remotes to control it
Most tvs made within the last like 5 years will work with it
I got one for Christmas to replace a Gen 1 Play 5, that's paired with a Gen 1 sub. They finally twisted my arm with the S2 system and the previous owner discount. It definitely sounds better when watching TV vs the previous setup of plain TV speakers, but that only matters when I can wrest the TV remote away from the crumbsnatchers. I miss my old Play 5 when it comes to playing music, though. The bar truly ain't as good for music.
It has only gotten better in the 7+ years I’ve had mine - Spotify and other app integrations, voice control with Alexa, etc.
Absolutely love my PlayBars still. The Beam is great for small bedrooms, and I have 2 of them. but for large rooms, the Arc is overpriced and does not impress me enough that warrants an "upgrade" (debatable) over the mighty PlayBar.
Got the playbar, playbase and beam
Love them all and agree with the previous posts that the playbase has a little more bass than the others
cannot live without it anymore.....🕶👑
Your play bar is upside down!
**Upside down, your play bar is.**
Wow the playbar looks chonky now that you barely see it anymore :D
Yeah! I keep seeing the new ones and they look so thin!
Where is that tv stand from?
Its this one... Cant remember what shop I bought it from but loads of places online sell it;
A white arc would look slick with that setup.
I was going to try and get some insight to Beam vs Playbar. I’ve seen a lot of people still very pleased with the Playbar where the Beam is the “if ya can’t Atmos” option
Ive got the beam in the other room but cant really compare very well as the playbar has the sub and surrounds on it. The beam does sound great though, probably better than the playbar by itself I think as it lacked bass from what I remember before getting the sub
How many of you are actually getting a digital signal to the playbar. The first bit of kit of Sonos that I ever obtained was a playbar. I had purchased it from a high end retailer. I never did business with them ever again as I believed it was their responsibility to inform me that not all flat panels will pass a digital signal to the playbar. Another $300 for a HDMI splitter that was capable of passing a digital signal to the playbar via optical. Do I miss the playbar, not for a heartbeat, arc is hands down the best of the best that Sonos has to offer, for soundbars. Playbar is now part of a home theatre in our master bedroom.
Their responsibility to do your due diligence for you? Unless you bought the TV at the same time from them, then that’s on you.
Due diligence or just poor product knowledge and customer service ???
Or non-knowledgeable consumer who doesn’t want to take personal responsibility for their choice???
I’m all about accountability, however when I visit and rely on the product knowledge of a retailer, I don’t suspect to not be informed. Sure go to best buy and you will most likely have better product knowledge than the person helping you. After this experience I’ve done exactly as you prescribed, anything after this playbar experience I’ve relied solely on my own due diligence.
Again, if you purchased the TV from them then yes, if not you’re expecting them to know specific details of something they probably never sold.
