Why we don't believe any Covid variant will be able to defeat our jab completely: Creators of the Oxford vaccine SARAH GILBERT and CATH GREEN give a very reassuring answer to the question that haunts us all

Tldr: "because a change in the spike protein – which allows the coronavirus to enter and infect human cells – that is radical enough to make our vaccine completely ineffective would also, almost certainly, be so extreme as to make the virus non-functional."
Hmm, why did they choose the Daily Mail? Not a headline the Guardian was interested in perhaps /s.
Interesting piece though regardless. Quite reassuring.
What, the same Guardian that prominently ran [this piece](https://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/jun/26/the-oxford-vaccine-the-trials-and-tribulations-of-a-world-saving-jab) yesterday? That Guardian?
I was partly joking, hence the /s. I just find it somewhat odd that these Oxford professors chose the Daily Mail, or agreed to the interview from them.
I mean, just look at the comment section, it is a wash with anti-vax sentiment. But then again, perhaps that is why they chose the Daily Mail.
Well, what you seemed to be implying was that the Guardian has some kind of anti-Oxford-vaccine agenda. Which is manifestly untrue. Perhaps you'd like to acknowledge that.
Not anti-Oxford vaccine agenda, more anti-positive news agenda. But I was being sarcastic.
I don't know why you think a /s gets you off the hook. You were insinuating something demonstrably false. You should stop doing it, here and elsewhere.
Relax, there is no hook.
It is a standard running joke that the Guardian tends not to publish positive pieces because they, and their readers, are generally disapproving of the Conservative government. Just in the same way that it is a running joke that the Daily Mail only publishes things which show the government in a good light. I think you are barking up the wrong tree here.
