Hi I want someone to clarify.

You can still buy 12 month codes from retailers, but there's only 1 and 3 months available on the Xbox store.
Almost $200 a year sounds expensive, but you get better value than actually buying a bunch of games. $200 for hundreds of games, including brand new full price releases, is a good deal.
I buy all of my Gamepass codes on sale half off, I have 3 years of Gamepass Ultimate stocked up for $100 a year. That's a great deal.
My question is if they are removing this subscription from the store will they stop making codes.
It's been removed from the store for a while now, I believe Microsoft has said they will continue to make codes.
But if they are making codes why removing the option?
It's to push Gamepass sales. When you look at your options on the Xbox store, the 1 and 3 months seem expensive and lack value. So you're like, well, I might as well pay just a little bit more per month and get access to a bunch of great games with my subscription. So you choose Gamepass instead. It's like buying a large instead of a small because it's only 50 cents more, it's a much better value for so little extra money.
They have said they will continue to make codes and sell them through retailers.
That makes more sense, now I don’t have to keep thinking if I need to stop playing.
You should absolutely be fine for a while. Though ultimately, I think their main goal is to get rid of gold and just have different Gamepass tiers as the only subscription option. This won't happen for a while, but I think it's what their long term goal is.
Or you load up with 3 years of gold and then pay $1 a month to convert to ultimate.
Those are the only options. I use the Microsoft rewards
Program and literally pay $0 for mine for 2 years straight now.
Microsoft rewards is not available on my location even tho I’m in PR it doesn’t work here for some reason.
It’s worth depends on how much games you play on the service per month/year.
For example, Yakuza Like a Dragon was just announced to be coming to Gamepass soon.
That game is currently priced at $59.99. If you played it and finished it within a month, then it only cost you $14.99.
What if you played more? Let’s say you played all Yakuza games from Zero to Like a Dragon. If you buy them separately, the cost is surely more than $180.00.
Now I am not a loyal Gamepass subscriber. In fact there’s only a handful of games I want on the service.
What I do is to subscribe only when there’s a game I want to play and cancel my subscription / turn off auto renew when I’m done.
I only want to have the option to buy Gold for a year, GPU is good but I’m not rich and is useful to play allot of games from it, but they need to add a clean up or an archived option games such as Banjo Kazooie has been there since the start of GP.
I agree, they need to offer the yearly gold subscription
